Regards Mike TigerFish 258 Posted September 20, 2012 Hi. Good guide however the grease; is that lithium soap based glycol grease? Regards Mike Yes, it is :) The Swede 2 Posted January 9, 2013 Looks like mine has a problem then as the sliding pns do not slide at the moment. Or at least not when operated by hand. Any tricks to remove the sliding pins from the calipers is seized up? Just penetrating oil? TigerFish 258 Posted July 15, 2013 On the ones on mine that siezed up, a spray of penetrating oil and some hefty thumps directly onto the end of the pin. After that, a socket and ratchet handle on the end would then turn the pin in the bracket. Eventually they would free up enough to work them out the of the bracket and allow the pins and holes to be cleaned out. Cleaning them is easier with the bracket removed from the car. Freeing the pin(s) I found easier with the brackets still on the car (but may work if you have a vice to hold the bracket if you have removed it). my98GS300 0 Posted April 12, 2014 I had a well frozen caliper, front left. Had to take a blow torch to it to free it up. The frozen caliper resulted in excessive play in the brake pedal. Once freed, the brake pedal responded normally.
