Give Peter Gidden a call (he's an MR2 ace but may consider your IS). He's based in Barnsley and fitted my TRD coilovers. Please PM me for his moby No.

Does anyone know of any business to specialise in refurbing coilovers? I got a slightly leaky TRD coilover on the MR2

What are you guys running?? And what car where they listed for?? I've just seen some second hand springs and shocks on Ebay (I won't be buying them) Listed for a soarer/gs300 but said came from a Supra?? Are they all interchangeable?? I wouldn't have thought so due to the different vehicle weights. I'm not going coilovers, but was thinking of some custom springs as want to drop slightly more than 'off the shelf' items, and KYB shocks for GS300 fitment.

What is the difference between shock and spring combination & coilovers as I am not sure what is on my car.

Hi CIJ, Dont worry about how the car looks :D to me its more about how it drives ;) Around £1000 is about right as to the price. Myself id see how the car drives with the coilovers and make your mind up later on about the roll bars. I totally agree with what ad77 is saying about the roll bars but id do one thing at a time and keep your bank balance in the black ;) Chips..

Anti Roll bars are a must.. They are an excellent mod and reall make a huge difference to handling :D MACRS200 (Neil) has fitted coilovers himself and is very clued up about them. Send him a PM if he doesnt read this

Alright there everyone, Ok ive just got the price of the Tein Flex dampers, £998.75 I supose the price you have to pay for your car to look the bizz. Im thinkin bout fitting the Kit myself, has anyone else done this and if so how much of a ba :tsktsk: rd is it? I replaced my front coilovers on my Mk2Golf some time ago and i didnt have any problems with that! If not should i pay for the company to fit them, does anyone know of decent companies up here in the North East? My other question was, is there anythin else i should buy to do with the suspension/handling like anti roll bars or undercar chasis support? I will hopefully be supercharging the car in the future sometime, so i dont know if extra support is needed! Cheers very much Chris

Hey Pimp.....howyadoin'. I thought you'd have got one organised when you were in the 'good ole US of A' :winky: There's a company in Scotland called 'freeflow' who would have custom made one for you for about 120 notes. The owner was trying to buy my Lexus before I stepped in and he got another one. I know he made one up for himself so reckon he'd make a good job of it. What goodies did you bring back then?????? I see you got interior blue lights. I ordered some off fleabay (from Germany) for about a fiver. Dunno what they're like yet. I get home next week though so will soon find out. ATB, Andy I was looking at Injen or Weapon-R intakes over there, but didn't go for them in the end. The Blitz was 50% off, so will go well with my new exhausts. Well, if the Blitz one doesn't fit, I'll get the number off ya for freeflow. I got a weathershield car cover, SS brake lines, Daizen polyurethane anti-roll bar bushes, and TRD silencers. Interior blue lights for just a fiver - that seems very cheap. Are they LEDs? Oh, on my next trip, I'm hoping to get Tein coilovers and EDFC..only 700 quid out there!

I have had problems with him to, holding back parts due to his other problems with payment (not from me) I have a set of coilovers that will not fit my car, as the top mount are not right for the lexus.

Hi, I'm another new owner of a SC430 2002 model and generally very pleased with it. The main disappointment is the ride/handling. I tried a 911 but found that too firm a ride for everyday use and not as luxurious as the Lexus. However, the SC is a strange ride - quite crashy over potholes but very wallowy and understeery the rest of the time. I don't have runflats and I'm investigating poor geometry settings with wheelsinmotion. Is there a good definitive combination of tyres/geometry/coilovers/antirollbars etc that will give a better comfort/sporty balance? Not lowered - just a better version of standard. I don't want a sports car but something that is more "cohesive" to drive - comfortable but still controlled within modest limits. Thanks Rik

Tanabe chassis braces, rear strut bar, and I used to have front strut bar before I install the supercharger. I have Hotchkiss sway bars set to the stiffest, KW coilovers set low and stiff (80% of the max).

Apart from the normal things like coilovers, ARBs, chassis braces.. is something like boxed in rear control arms With alot of power you have to be concerned about flex!

I'm running on HKS HiperMax RS coilovers which have been fitted approx 1,500 miles ago and have been fine up until recently with no knocking or tapping. What I've noticed is a sharp "cracking" noise which appear to originate from the N/S rear and is most apparent when turning a sharp corner at low speed, but it also occurs going over speedbumps and rough surfaces. I was think of the following possibilities: 1) A loose top mount? I'll need to remove the boot liner to check these. 2) A loose ARB drop link. Before Track Attack I removed all the wheels and did a visual inspection of the suspension and couldn't find anything loose. 3) No contact is apparent between the coilover spring and the inner tyre wall. Any ideas / suggestions are most welcome

GS430 just not desirable - it's not a hyped up saloon car. Most saloons depreciate loads. I bought the import Aristo V300 which is same features/bhp as the GS430 for a mere 22K / 6 months old. I've probably lost 50% in 5 years as a result. Aristo V300 has some additional bells and whistles such as 4 wheel steering and F1 shift - but big bonus is the tuneable 2JZ-GTE engine as found in the Supra. Personally, if I wanted to save some bucks, I'd slap a supercharger on your GS430 and get the suspension reworked with TRD and Tein coilovers, maybe drop in a limited slip diff and you'll find it performing very much like the new M5 'cept with comfier seats. :) Remember, M5s depreciate wads too...the safest bet is the M3 for lower depreciation.

Humph! :D TRD Coilovers, sways, clutch and quick shift have done wonders for 'ol Thunderbird2!

Hi Everyone, ive been wondering something. Now thier is no way i can afford coilovers unless someone wants to sell me some at a ridiculsly cheap price, so am resined to the fact that i will pop some lowering springs on and be done. Question is, i was also hoping to stick some ARB on as from what i have heard they seem to make a lot of diffrence. I was hoping to do the ARB first then the Springs later. is it possible to run the TTE ARB (are theses the ones everyone uses) on stock suspention. If so where can i find a price for them.. I had a look on Prolex but cant find them and the TDI confuses me... Cheers

most coilovers are noisy and tend to do this. im running hks hipermax as well and have this problem. another person i know has tein flex and same thing happens, same as trd sus kit. its due to a number of things, dominantly, the coilovers stiffen up the suspension, but your body isnt stiffer, thus it takes the grunt of turns/bumps as your body flexes. swaybars help but itll still be there. if you have bigger rims/smaller profile tyres the noise is louder too

I had the garage fit my coilovers,as soon as it was fitted they took it straight down for the geometry to be done there and then. As Lee says Tonys is the man to see about geometry.

im gettin me an rsm! its the new black1, its comin in wit my tein coilovers an my cusco anti role bar can't wait! it those lap times 2 which is handy for the track!

Hi, I went with the Teins coilovers, like you i looked at all the options. I found there was loads of info on there website and i spoke to alot of people and i never heard a bad word Tein. Ive not got as far as the anti roll bars yet, just the coilovers fitted and what difference it has made to my car. I went for the FLEX version and im surprised how good the ride is.Not to bumpy or harsh. Good Luck with what ever you go for But be sure to have the geometry done on the car as soon as the coilovers are fitted ;) Chips..

Yes mate, they are the Flex, no knocking whatsoever. As far as I know nobody knows exactly what causes it or why it happens on some cars and not others. As for the EDFC it certainly does cause a bit of interest when new people get into the car :D Prolex are also developing a coilover kit that I believe G4CRX has road tested and gave a good review on. Prolex coilovers although review seems to have been removed now. First batch will be here any day now........

TTE coilovers are a pretty decent price compared to the Teins. They're great coilovers. There is also no knocking with them. You cant adjust the damping with them though. Also stick some TTE anti roll bars on also and you're away :winky:
