  1. I would opt for coilovers instead of springs. Depending on whether you want a comfy ride or stiff/racy, there are many types of coilovers you can choose from. 19s are probably a little hard to get in the UK. Try searching the us.lexusownersclub.com. There are a lot of people with 19s or even 20s in the US. Send me a pm if you need more help. Alex
  2. I run 19x8 rims with 235/35 tyres (I don't know the offset), with the eibach springs and Bilstein coilovers, there is no prob for the rear but the front rubs on fenders (wings) on hard cornering or bumps when someone is in the front passenger seat.

  6. Hey whats goin down everyone.... I wanna get things straight here cause I don't wanna be like those kids who want to be racers and pretend to act like them on these types of forums by saying they are older. I'm not...My dad owns a SC430 but I am totally into the import industry and can't stand the ugly looking wheels...., the very highly potent engine (3UZ-FE) that is used in certain JGTC (Japan Grand Touring Cars..?) on the stock SC430.... And by reading some of the forums some people say that SC430's are a very rare sight to see but in the city I live there are about 10 Sc430's or more in a population of about only 70 000. I want my dads to be unique which I am pretty sure most of you understand. But I'm sorry in advance for this long post.... I need some advice on a list of mods that would be in the works.... HRE 540 Performance wheels- 20x8.5 front and 20x9.5 or 20x10 inch rear -would that be too big? I have read some posts that a TEIN suspension solved the problem of the wheel touching the fender wall or wheel well? -the regular 540's also have a standard Tire Pressure Sensor compatability and are identical to the 540R's Bridgestone Potenza's S-03 -is the S-03 a ultra high-performance tire? or just a high peformance tire? -does anyone else have this tire that can comment on tread of wear of these tires? -will this affect the tire sensor with the changing of new wheels? I know the rims are tire pressure combatible ......... TEIN Comfort Spec Cruising Master Type CS Coilovers -will this help the ride quality? make the ride softer or harder? or is it the one with 16 adjustable dampening force -can I use the Electronic Force Dampening Controller with all TEIN coilovers? or just the type HA? Possible Brake Kit from Brembo? -not sure if they make an actual kit for the SC430 but it showed up on NOPI online but did not show on Brembo's official site -make the rims look better! I would love that remote top and remote starter because its right on the stock key which is great so u dont have to have keys dangling around everywhere -where can I get that done in Canada? -do I have to go to Luxury Motorworks in Monrovia, California just to do it? That is it for suspension, rims, tires etc. but I want some engine work done too which I will later post probaly....I just don't want to have a super long post Again so sorry for the extremly long post, and thx in advance for the advice and info
  7. Mark, we will arrive mid afternoon on Thursday, to collect the Monster, will possibly need some blocks to get it on the trailer me thinks, the front bumper was low on Eibach's, whats it like with the coilovers are you and TDI participateing this year at the show

  9. but - as a set of Tein coilovers are over a grand (gold membership will save you over £110 pounds on these babys) - it comes down to how much are you prepared to pay for those extra 15 millimetres?

  13. Wow, sounds like you want to spend a pretty penny on your DAD's car! Heehee, just bust'n your balls. Hey, but if you got it, why not flaunt it!!! Well, The Tein Coilovers will make your ride stiffer, but you'll be able to take turns faster and make the entire car just handle more like a sports car... Bridgestone SO-3 ... UNBELIEVABLE, they stick like no other! and if your rims are too wide, just get some spacers, but that sounds like it'll work :-)

  16. How LOW have you dropped the car, and is just with springs or are you using coilovers? AndyHart was running really low on his IS.. probably around 50 to 60mm i think using coilovers.. :winky: Got any pics by the way?

Hi Didin, I have got the H&R 35mm springs with standard shocks, they are excellent springs, and i cannot complain about them, i havent tried Eibach or Apex, but what i can tell you is that the H&R springs lower the car more then 35mm.. It looks absoloutly perfect, but as my dad drives my car now and then, i have just put an order in for some coilovers, to give me that flexibility of adjusting the height and damping control, (so springs are sold to a LOC Member) <_< check the pic out,it sits n drives nicely. H&R 35mm with 18" Wheels..

  21. Hi Bobski, If you've done 'em before, you shouldn't have any problems on your IS. It's pretty straight forward. Infact, when you remove your old springs off the struts, the new springs are so much shorter that you don't need to use a spring compresser to get the top mounts back on. With the top mount back on, the strut leg is now quite a bit shorter, and so goes back on the car easier than it came off. I've done mine twice now, the first time with Apex lowering springs and then again with adjustable ride hight coilovers... I love the TTE coilovers and they suit my requirements perfectly (looks and improved road handling) but as I said in a previous post, I wouldn't recommend them if you frequently carry heavy loads and a car full of passengers, as they have no damping rate adjustment. This is the advantage the HKS Hiper's have, so you could wind them up to give a really firm ride when you have a car full, and stop the car bottoming out on bumpy roads. I suppose you could raise the car when you are expecting full load, but that defeats the point of coilovers :D I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the TTE coilovers though, I couldn't believe the difference they made to an already brilliant handling car.
  24. id suggest for your requirements and costs, the TTE coilovers, there is nothing at all wrong with these coilovers, any problems with passengers in the back, will be the same with any coilover........... TTE coilovers are made by bilstein.........a very good manufacturer
  25. well im going for the looks and perfomance as i do like to chuck cars around but saying that im quiet happy with the cornering ability with the standard kit on it so perhaps i do not need to go the whole hog. i have also read on this Thread that the TTE kit is not much good if your have passengers in the back which more often i do but on the plus is ideal for normal road use. but the HKS is more suited for the serious road use and track. With the HKS coilovers is this the same kit as on the TDI website up at 1500££, Simon is there a picture in the gallery of the drop on your car.. The advantage of coilovers against springs is that you can adjust the height of the car to anything you like. I have the HKS Hipermax II on my car also (not a Lexus) and they are extremely good. Before the coilovers I had the eibach springs, again very good but I wanted a firmer and more controlled drive as I'm in the process of tuning my car to around 300bhp. I now have my car sitting VERY low to the ground but the cornering ability is phenomenal. I guess it will be similar with the Lexus. The only problem is the price difference between a set of coilovers compared to spring - huge, but then again you have far more versatility on adjustments - ie, height and damping. IMO, the extra money you pay for the coilovers is worth it if you intend on driving your Lex enthusiastically. As for me, the Lex is my second/family car so dont intend on driving it in such a sporty fashion, thus will probably go for a set of springs or the TTE kit instead.
