  1. Sorry mate, wouldn't take them if they were given for free if i was you i would not buy the Pi springs, they are crap, they are soft, and do not last long, they are ok for small, light cars, but i would not put them in a Lex for sure. Easiest option is either go for the Eibachs (30mm) or try and get hold of H&R's (35mm), both of these are made of good quality and will last for a long time.. yous won't have any problems with these 2 makes.. :winky: (I had the H&R's - Now sold - Bought the Tein SS Coilovers)
  2. erm kind off....... the standard ones are in fact coilovers, meaning the springs are located over the struts aftermarket coilovers are the same , but usually uprated in some respect there are different uprated ones that have adjustable height setting and ones that have adjustable damping settings, and some that have both adjustable height and damping
  3. so the only difference is that they are fully adjustable. So the standard ones are infact coilovers in the sense of the word, just not adjustable!
  4. nice car. Could someone please tell me what the difference is between coilovers and the normal arrangement fitted on the IS200? I thought that coilovers meant spings fitting over dampers, but isn't that what we have already? ta a little
  5. Hello Reiv and welcome to the Club. What's the weather like it Finland....?? Sorry, I don't know anything about K&W Coilovers, but I'm sure someone will pop along soon to advise you.
  6. imi

    Coilovers

Hi there, and welcome to the club :) There is a member on here who has just recently installed the K&W coilovers on his IS200, i am sure you will get the answers from him.. Have you tried the search option?
  7. Hello from Finland! I have owned my IS200 couple of months now, and guess what, feels gooooood! :D I have a one guestion about lowering. Does anyone have any experience about K&W coilovers? I think I'll go for coils 'cos I have to think about snowy winters too. So anything bad or good of K&W? Or is there some better ones in same price?
  8. I finished fitting my Super charger this morning, taking it to 8 hours in total from start to finish. VERY pleased with the performance (although I might not stop there !) It seems that now the car's alot quicker, the TTE coilovers feel like they work better !! ;) Thanks to Rob (fluff), and Steve (AudioX) for there e-mails, which helped me cut down on the fitting time. :D HERE's a picture for you guys (coz I know none of you have seen one before) :P
  9. One of the cars that i have just sold had anti- roll bars, as well as Tanabe coilovers, 235 tyres on the rear, as well as loads of others thins going on underneath ( and in the engine.) Point is, until you feel what a Lex handles like when PROPER suspension is fitted, you don`t realise what your missing..... That thing handles like it was on rails!!!
  10. Nice one Steve. Are you going for the EDFC with the tein coilovers?
  11. you forgot KW coilovers discussed in one of the lost threads : Variante 2 : height 30-60 mm with damping adjustable rebound Variante 3 : height 30-60 mm with damping adjustable rebound and compression
  12. TTE coilovers have height adj only. No damping settings. and cost more then the Tein kit :)
  13. Ian... How about Tein Coilovers... Tein NA kit £745+Vat :)
  14. Lowering Springs The easiest and cheapest way to improve your cars looks and handling. Eibach Approx Cost: 150GBP Lowers: 30mm Ride Quality: Slight loss Handling improvement: good improvement Spax SSX Approx Cost: 140GBP Lowers: 25mm Ride Quality: very slight loss Handling improvement: good Pi Approx Cost: 99GBP Lowers: 25mm Ride Quality: slight loss Handling improvement: ? HKS Sf5 Approx Cost: 230GBP Lowers: ? Ride Quality: ? Handling improvement: ? Fitting of lowering springs should cost between 100 - 200 GBP and take 3-4 hours. +++++++++++++++++ Coilovers Using a 'coil-over' damper, the ride height of the vehicle can be adjusted, ride height can be reduced much further than with just a spring kit as above. This allows a safe drop of up to 50mm, giving superior roadholding and handling. TTE Approx Cost: 1000GBP Lowers: upto 50mm Ride Quality: ? Handling improvement: ? HKS Approx Cost: 2000GBP Lowers: upto 50mm Ride Quality: adjustable Handling improvement: adjustable TRD Approx Cost: 2000GBP Lowers: upto 50mm Ride Quality: adjustable Handling improvement: adjustable Tein Approx Cost: 1000GBP Lowers: upto 50mm Ride Quality: adjustable Handling improvement: adjustable +++++++++++++++++++++++++ Anti-roll bars These bars dramatically reduce body roll through corners. TTE Approx Cost: 250GBP HKS Approx Cost: 500GBP ++++++++++++++++++++++++++
  15. Coilovers The handling of the car is now much better and sporty.
  16. IMO, if you are satisfied with your car, except for the ride, get stiffness adjustable coilovers. HKS just came out with the HiperMax LS Plus coilovers and these cost about USD1300 - 1500. The good thing with these coilovers is that these are optimized for comfort and you can adjust both the ride height and stiffness. If you just change the springs, you might think that the SE is too soft. I got Apexi WS coilovers (also comfort-tuned) myself with 18s rims. I do not think that these are much stiffer than the original springs/shocks. I live in Hong Kong where the road conditions sometimes are very poor and think that the combination Apexi WS/18s is ideal for my GS300. Alex
  17. Hi and welcome to the club! :) Make sure you get some piccies of your motor up for us to have a look at... :D There are a number of things you can do to your IS200 now. The range of modifications has grown considerably over the last couple of years. It would help us with the advice we offer if you could tell us: - What is your budget (£200 for springs, £1200 for Coilovers)? - What mods are you after: performance/styling? - What have you seen/read aboput on this site that you need more info on (anything specific)? - What is your ultimate goal (a good looking car, a fast car, a great handling car - all 3?)? As Ian mentioned, Exhaust, springs, ECU, induction, charger, alloys, kits etc are all options that are available to you. Take a look at the signatures of the cars tuned by Fargo, GRiM, Bazza, SteveAudioX, DaveEllan, ChrisShipley and soon to be done cars by SuperchargedIS340 and SiSkippy for some ideas. Look forward to helping you further mate (along the slippery slope of tuning....)! ;) Zee. :zee: p.s. Consider GOLD membership for £25 if you are serious about tuning - it will save you shed loads in the long run.... that's a promise.... :winky:
  18. Sure, you don't want any cr@p. I meant do you want to spend £150 on springs or £1000 on coilovers? I think Eibachs for the springs. From other posts this week TDi have them in stock and offer GOLD discount.
  19. Duncan has 19's on coilovers and his are LOW (but he had his arched rolled) - so they can be done. Have you looked at TTE springs....?
  20. I know of a couple of chaps with the TTE coilovers, and having seen them and felt the ride quality, would highly recommend them...... And I have the TTE anti-rolls too, and they are excellent.....
  21. I would not trade the car for a SE model. I expect only the suspension setup is a little bit different between the sport and the SE, like stiffer springs and expect that even the shocks of the two models are the same. By trading your car you would make significant losses on your existing car, much more than the cost of getting a set of comfort spec coilovers or just get the normal/standard springs. That should not be too difficult since many GS owners have changed their suspension. Like me Alex
  22. I would opt for coilovers instead of springs. Depending on whether you want a comfy ride or stiff/racy, there are many types of coilovers you can choose from. 19s are probably a little hard to get in the UK. Try searching the us.lexusownersclub.com. There are a lot of people with 19s or even 20s in the US. Send me a pm if you need more help. Alex
  23. I run 19x8 rims with 235/35 tyres (I don't know the offset), with the eibach springs and Bilstein coilovers, there is no prob for the rear but the front rubs on fenders (wings) on hard cornering or bumps when someone is in the front passenger seat.
  24. indeed - Duncan has TTE Coilovers and has slammed his to the floor........on 19's.......
