Yippy :) Finally had time to drop the car off this morning and had the kit fitted. Feels great, No unusual noises, but I had a snag.. The garage who computer tracked the car could NOT get the Camber adjustment bolts loose for adjusting. Has anyone ever had this problem, or got any tips to loosen these up? They tryed a LONG wrench and still could'nt do the job.. Suggested heating them up but would damage the bushes in process, meaning renewal.... I think i have to lower the front one notch and raise the rear a notch.. does'nt look height balanced at the mo but not too far off. Thanks to Mark @ TDi again for supplying such a Great kit..

Under body Chassis Braces/Stiffners
Monster-Mat replied to Monster-Mat's topic in Modifications & Tuning
there arnt any bushes, the braces replace much smaller(diameter) braces already fitted to the car.. the std brace is a flat plate at the rear on either side, and at the front a small tubed triangle these are replaced with these braces, at the rear both sides of the car are now tied together aswell as the rear suspension mounting points, thus preventing the twisting of the shell and the movement in the suspension mounts, which does happen everytime a cr corners or brakes on the front, the much thicker brace prevents the front of the car twisting, and also braces up the front suspension mounting points. i can guarantee that the handling will improve after fitting these braces, if used in conjunction with either coilovers or lowering springs and anti roll bars....... ..........Guarantee it !!!! -
Under body Chassis Braces/Stiffners

These will truely transform the handling of the car, especially in conjunction with coilovers and anti-roll bars. The original TOMS braces are nearly twice the price (good job i never made up sets for all those that "showed" interest) these are made from High Performance steel( as used in bridge construction), i am making next to no profit on these the metal alone to make these 5 braces cost 2000€ (£1333) -
See if you can get the cash and put it towards some coilovers
-
ok mate cheers for that, but dont reckon im going 2 able to afford coilovers, so prop may just need te arches rolling
-
I'd guess you'd need your arches rolling with that sort of drop. Duncan is the best person to talk to on this, he has slammed his IS on coilovers with 19's...

I went there with Andy Hart last year to have his TTE coilovers fitted - seemed competent and professional enough.... The brothers who own this place started a company a few years ago and sold it... by the name of "Ripspeed"..... The Ripp brothers - hence "R"-tec..... ;)

The suspension (springs, shocks, coilovers) fit, but since the IS300 is heavier than the IS200, the drop (when using springs and shocks) will be different. Not sure if this will affect the handling or comfort. If you are installing coilovers, then the most people in the US with IS300 install Altezza coilovers (HKS, Tein, ...) and do not have any problems.

cooooooool. BTW what coilovers did you use in the end ? -
im on a tight budget so i thing coilovers are out of the window to be honest the shocks seem perfect at the mo i think i might try ringing spax or some one like that see if they do any of them what about sport shocks and springs any good ???
-
Aristo JZS147 stuff is probably a bit more difficult to get. I remember that many brands, like Espelir, HKS, and Eibach were carrying them. Did you check the condition of your current shocks? If you go for a drop, they may wear much sooner. So, if they are ready for replacement, you better consider doing springs and shocks together. By the way, it is a misunderstanding that coilovers are always harsh. I have Apexi WS coilovers and they are very comfortable, very close to stock. You need to check the spring rate of the coilovers since these determine the stiffness. And yes, some coilovers are very stiff.

coilovers are the way to go :) if you want to get the max drop :)

The IS200/Altezza DRIFT Car........
Monster-Mat replied to Monster-Mat's topic in Modifications & Tuning
Ive done the modifications to the rear suspension Coilovers..now the car sits lower than a slugs knackers will start on the front tommorow started bolting in the roll cage....... :yack: , what a pain in the bottom, the cage needs jacking and bolting to the floorpan under tension the plastic window glass has been made, its some special stuff that doesnt shatter like normal perspex..looks good, should have that in sometime this week, along with the front and rear glass ive gotta say, the car is solid.....its gonna be a real bone shaker out on track hopefully have some more pics up by the weekend... -
I have installed KW Variant 2 coilovers on my IS200 one month ago. I think it's good materials but the guy who install it, was it's first time with a Lexus and he had some mistake with the installation. On the rear,i receive elastomere bump with the coilovers, he put it on place of the stock bump. But the car was indriveable, it jump everytime. He swap it with the stock bump, now it's better but i ask myself if it's not better to put both in the same time? why given elastomere bump if we don't use it?? Someone with similar problems? Thanks.

Tein coilovers start at around $1000. There isn't much about less than that.
-
Thanks guys, I really didn't want to go the route of coilovers, too expensive for what I want to achieve. Colin, Do you know of any good coilovers in the sub $1000 range? Scorpion, Does ShockTactic have a website......and would they ship internationally? I live in Jamaica.
-
Contact shocktactic or something like that they will make up spring stiffness to your spec. Seems silly spending out for coilovers when you just want to stiffen the ride.IMHO
-
You could goes with some coilovers as they allow adjustment of ride height so you can keep it at stock level.
-
Coilovers... Just got to convince my insurer to cover mods...
-
Tune a car (link at the top) also supply coilovers and springs...
