Lexus Model

  1. Well done Jack - I saw these on eBay last night - did you have to pay much more than the highest bid? Immx - I think Mr Singh could get hold of these for roughly £900 from the USA according to an old thread so you may want to look in that direction (ie west) for cheap coilovers...
  2. Shotwood> I'm closer to getting there but still no altezza in my garage. the GAB's were very nice although f**k off stiff!! (Handles soooo well with them, hope your new coilovers are just as sweet) They are traders and the price is pretty much fixed (much to my disappointment) I'm tempted to get one imported, instead of wasting time pondering over little things and logging on to autotrader EVERYDAY! BTW do you have to put a certain octane rated petrol in your car seeing as it's a aftermarket ECU?
  3. No signs of knocking over VERY bumpy surfaces amplified by the super stiff GAB coilovers, could this still be ball joints? Agreed.......
  4. Well, as you know I've been looking at Altezzas and located one which wasn't too far away from me. I popped down there on saturday to see this gorgeous Altezza.......... I was offered a test drive and took her out. The car is soooooo nice to drive, the response was good and in total honesty it drove nicer than the wifey's Civic Type R, in terms of handling and speed. The car did have a few mods that I'm aware of but may have had more. GAB coilovers, Aftermarket exhaust as far as I know. The ride was stiff, the exhaust note was loud. It was schweeeeeeet. I want. The only concerns to me were the mileage and a strange 'snapping' noise it made (once) a) The mileage was about 60k miles, do I need to be concerned about this?? (no service history B) The 'cracking' noise occured only once. It was felt and heard in the following scenario: When I reversed full lock in one direction, stopped went forward in full lock in other direction and as I went to stop to a stand still (applying brakes) it made a knocking/cracking noise as the calipers gripped and stopped. I don't have a clue what made that noise but it only happened that one time that I made that manouver and just as I stopped. Any ideas???? Sorry I can't explain it better :( Do I need to be concerned - I haven't made the purchase yet...........
  5. Does anyone mind if I sulk in the corner til I can find some cheap coilovers??
  6. YOU B :tsktsk: D!!!! :P :P :D I was the highest bidder til the last 30secs!!!!! Still that what ebays all about I guess! :D Anyone else got any cheap coilovers in need of a home???
  7. I've just recently won from ebay some Apexi N-1 coilovers. They are being fitted as we speak. But the instructions for them are in Japanese. I was wondering if some one could translate the instructions for me, or give me a quick description of how to use/adjust them. :D
  8. Guys, installed all this on the weekend, EDFC is a great investment!! BUT (always a damn but) there are knocking noises from the coilovers, over small bumps. What could this be? my mechanic installed the coilovers, so not sure if he did it right, as he didnt have the manual. The gold nut on each coilover top (on the strut towers) are loose, except for one. Do i need to tighten these??? Help!! :zee:
  9. Hi all Tried to fit my NEw Tein coilovers today but couldnt get the old rear suspension unit out :( I used the guide on the knowledge base and I used spring compressors undid all the nuts still not enough space to get the unit out can the rear arm go any lower? I tried to remove the bolt holding the anti roll bar but I couldnt get that bolt out. spent 6 hours and ended up putting the car back with original. so any tips? or good advise? thanks :)
  10. PM DUNCAN as he runs 19's on his IS with coilovers and doesn't seem to have any problems. :)
  11. Cheers. I did actually mean coilovers :duh: ..... Im looking at the "Flex" model from Tein. Are they worth the money? Approx £1500
  12. EDFC only fits to some of their coilovers not spring. Coilovers allow the height to be adjusted. Different models allow different height ranges but all of them will allow a drop more than the standard sport.
  13. well Dave ellen has it, i had it but now brettster has it.. Basically your gona neeed to fit the servos on the coilovers and route the cabel back tothe contoler box, plug in and power up.. done..
  14. n00b question, but what is the differance between Lowering springs and Coilovers?
  15. Well the things is Im going upto 18's on 40's and would like to keep some of the ride quality, scorpion has 30mm drop pn his and as soon as you put someone in it it looks like its on the floor. anyone got a picture of theirs on 25mm drop ? Well - I've tried spax, Eibach and now TTE coilovers with 18's.... Spax - 25mm, no noticible difference in ride quality Eibach - 30mm, no noticible difference in ride quality TTE coilovers - about 40/45mm drop, noticible difference in ride quality, though not irritating, but then I do have uprated anti-rolls, under-chasis braces and strut brace. Zee, where can I order them from ? and how much are they ?

  17. The Altezza/IS200/IS300 and GS300/430 Mk2 brake pads and discs are the same. The Altezza/IS200/IS300 lowering springs, shocks and coilovers will fit, but since the IS300 is quite a bit more front heavy, the drop in the front will be much more if IS200/Altezza springs were to be installed on an IS300. This diff. in drop may somewhat affect the ride and handling of the car. Most coilovers were designed for the Altezza, but since these can be height (and sometimes stiffness) adjusted, they should fit nicely on all the engine types.
  18. Stage 2 Completed :) :) here a few pictures..... Apexi Rev/Speed meter HKS DB meters & Greddy Gauge pod TTE superchager........ HKS DB meters with white back light.. Tein coilovers EFDC controller... more to come...... Stage 3 to follow, dont know when, dont know where, but will be starting soon..........hopefully.....
  19. Off Friday....going up north to get my coilovers fitted....birthday on Saturday....restaraunt on Sunday....going for a blast on Monday :winky:
  20. Shotwood sounds sweet......if I EVER get my Tezza would you be inclined to part with your GAB's? I haven't heard of them, but if my next car has std coilovers then that would be a possiblilty! got any pics??
  21. I've ditched my GAB coilovers and fitted the Apexi ones. What a revelation. I think the GAB's were desgined for tracks/very smooth roads. No good for this country then... I wasn't aware of the aftermarket suspension until I picked the vehicle up. Wouldn't have stopped me buying it, just wouldn't have paid any extra for it. ;) Are they worth it? A definite resounding yes! B) Ok, the turn-in isn't quite as razor sharp, but mid-corner bumps no longer affect the line. The ride is well controlled and really smooth now. I was surprised by how adjustable they are. A few clicks on the top knobs makes a considerable difference. Had a play this weekend and got the ride set up to my complete satisfaction. A very worthwhile mod. B) BTW, I could claim to be a mechanical genius and rabbit on about how easy they were to fit, but my mate has his own commercial garage and he fitted them for me in about 3 hours. He reckons they were easy though. :D
  22. my cam is not so good next steps after the bodykit are coilovers and 18's to lower the car over 4" compared to stock :duh:
  23. Get the TTe anti-rolls, Imi's coilovers and Japsai under chasis braces... you won't need the strut barces after that lot...... ;)
  24. I'm going to but some goodies for my IS and i need feedback from the guys that have the following: 1)Front/rear Strut braces 2)Anti roll bars 3)Coilovers(possibly if they're @ a reasonable price). For obvious reasons i would like to get these items from across the pond, with the exchange rate as low as it is at the moment,so its a good time to buy. What i need guys is: Who you dealt with(company). What make of above products did you choose. How long did you wait for them. Total cost inc shipping and import taxes. Cheers fellas!!!! Post here or PM me direct.
