  1. Hi! Last night I got to meet up with A group from LOC UK in Cologne, very nice people. Had some beers in the hotel bar and some food at Burger King in Frechen. Two local LOC members also joined, LuigiNintendo and Shark. Today Tony Goose's and Zee's cars got some coilovers, and Zee had some specially-made (brought by Mat) braces fitted. Some Pics: Workfloor with IS430 and Corolla Turbo in foreground Zee, Mat, Johnny and Ifraz discussing... ah... Japsai spoilers? Here you can see the brace under Zee's car Zee's car in four wheel alignment Very nice wheels, they are Maz's old golden Blitz wheels, which were beautifully refurbed and look the biz. Andy gives some pointers Tony Goose's very clean car Refitting the boot liner on Tony's car And thanks to GriM for not letting me feel left out and having a mod prepared for my IS. I now have a pair of very nice silver Philips rear indicator bulbs! Quote of the meet: What a big c***! (carkit). Cheers guys, till the next meet. RX-Men-8 P.S. hopefully you'll post the group photo with the formula 1 car!
  2. Two workshop notes needed. 1) Removing rear discs, Sounds simple & once I knew how it was but I couldn't find the adjuster anywhere!!!! 2) MOST IMPORTANT!! Fitting Coilovers ! ;)
  3. well the skirts and rear bumper look like SARD items. Front is the Toyota alzezza sport. Looks like he is on 18" rims COilovers sports grille
  4. coilovers, I just seen the price of them I'll stick to Springs Thanks
  5. Think it's only the springs which are different so that's all you need to change unless you want to go for uprated shocks as well. Other option instead of springs and shocks I guess would be coilovers. Most people on here seem to just change the springs if that's any help?
  6. very interested. after seeing keirons car last night and when he adjusted his coilovers i realised that its gotta be the way to go. plus me 19's are coming very soon and would be nice to get em sitting jsut right! and raise the car up for the winter months too. I would love it if they were the KW type as they are realy well made and rust proof (ish)
  7. I have to agree with everyone else, Go for the Sport! Although Don't expect the handling to be much, it is still a very soft ride compaired to say a 318is. It still has overtones of a boat!!!!! I've got Knoi coilovers on order!!!!!
  8. Right. More useful mods are suspensions mods, like coilovers, braces, sways, ... the car itself is already fast enough :P
  9. .......................ah, the only other company in europe who makes coilovers for the is200 is protrac in holland..however there systems are pure race set ups :winky:
  10. You don't need coilovers Ruskie - you need a group buy on Pampers for the new arrival :P
  11. i woudl defo like to know who the coilovers are made by,, even if they are rebranded.. dont want just anybodys on my baby... and brett i feel for ya man,, mine are driving me mad aswell.. im leaning towards the TTE c/o.. they do not have the pillow balls....
  12. ... One of my clients knows one of Europe's biggest suppliers for shocks, springs and coilovers. This company has been supplying these parts to many of the European aftermarket specialists that rebrand their products as their own brands, including to some leading European and German brands. Because of this, their products meet or exceed all the German Tuv requirements. This supplier also sells coilovers for the Lexus IS200/IS300, and i am now trying to convince the supplier to sell some of these coilovers to me. Since this supplier only sells to other aftermarket specialists, they require a minimum quantity of 10 sets.... The warranty on these coilovers is 12 months I am now convincing the supplier to sell me one set for a sample ... then i will require a guinea pig for testing and photos!! :winky:
  13. Most aftermarket pillow tops make noises since these are made of metal That is the compromise for getting a lil' better handling. Alternatively, you can install the shocks/springs or coilovers using the stock mounting tops.
  14. this additional clearence...........is this from tyre to coilovers on the inside
  15. Certain on that Carlos? Because that SC looks ageless :o :D How much is it likely to cost to get a similar to one to above? £2000 rims £1000 coilovers £1000 bodykit £1500 respary and mods? ? Car Please correct me where I am wrong, help with me other costs.
  16. For a rather extreme drop you have to go for the coilovers. No spring/shocks combination offer a drop that is more than 40 - 50 mm. The TRD spring/shocks combo has a relatively modest drop, prob. only 30 - 35mm
  17. I can get either Tanabe or HKS coilovers for around £700 mate... these normally retail at well over £1200!!
  18. Thinking about suspension mods before I go ahead with installing 18" G-games rims. I've got only 2 options: 1. Get Tein springs with Cusco sway bars. I heard Tein springs make a drop of 1.5" all round, but I doubt that my rims will be safe from potholes, esp with a combination of stock shocks. Cheaper method though. But are there any handling improvement at all? 2. Or get Tanabe Sustec GF coilovers. Bit pricey and less flare compared to Teins. But I heard they do a great job, street and race. Seems like I cant compromise with the Tanabes (budget-wise) and with the price of the coilovers I can get springs AND sway bars, but if anyone here can convince me otherwise... :winky: Now my other concern would be downpiping. Are there any complications in changing to an aftermarket one? (with all that "Check Engine" warning and all) I heard replacing the downpipe would involve removing the pre-cats, thus increasing torque and exhaust sound. I also have to consider replacing the manifolds to go along with the downpipe. This true?
  19. apexi, tein and hks are all good for coilovers. Make sure you know what you want - some, due to the top mountings, are noisy over bumps etc. If you want to control the damping stiffness whilst on the move then Tein along with their EDFC is the only way to go. There may also be companies that sell shocks/springs as a set that will give you your required drop (TRD maybe?)
  20. Hey guys, thanks for the advise. I have placed an order for the Tein S-tech springs (Medium tensile strength) and also the blue cusco sway stabiliser bars. S-tech springs makes a 35mm drop front and 28mm drop rear. Dunno whether this is going to affect my rims in the future though. I have one thing to bear in mind though, to drive slow on the slightest pothole or uneven roads. But this is just a starter for the suspension area. Overall, it cost about the same as a Tanabe sustec GF coilovers. However, as you guys recommended, sways bars are the main thing that makes a difference in cornering, handling, etc. So that's in the top priority. So I've got 2 mths wait now. B) Will make an update by then
  21. How much does the Eibach ones lower it by mate ? i want it low but also need it to be quite stiff as i gotta tow my jetski on it which weighs bout 500-600kg so dont want it to catch the arches if its too low , when i go for 18s though i will prob be puttin on some adjustable tein coilovers to keep it nice and stiff
  22. Thanks for the insight Mr Fargo, but would Tein springs coupled with sway bars make any difference? btw, arent sway bars also known at stabilisers. I'm not talking about 'cosmetic' top strut bars that goes over the shock mountings. Very contradicting indeed, as lots of people claim sway bars make a huge difference in cornering, handling, etc. Anyways, my first choice was to get the Tein Flex but then again the heavy price tag was a downer. (but its still in my wish list :winky: ) Tanabe's Sustec GF coilovers is my 2nd alternative, but are they really good? I'm more concern on ride quality, handling and most importantly to withstand potholes that would kill my future 18" rims. So the question now: Would Tein S-tech springs just simply do the job? As for the downpipes and headers I'm thinking to do a customised one, maintaining the exact diameter exits. Although I dont have supercharger but I would like to experiment with the downpipe first. I just want that extra exhaust sound and possibly some increase in torque..
  23. I had that with my eibachs ! Could be how the spring is seated ? Only noticed it at slow speeds going over speed bumps get some coilovers :P :P
  24. Could you not swap the springs for some S/SE ones? The shocks are the same in all IS200's, just the springs are different. Should be lots of people here with the S/SE who have fitted lowering springs, coilovers etc. and have the old springs laying around There would probably be people who would swap your springs for their S/SE to make their car lower. Its seems a shame that you will miss out on having the Sport because of this
  25. Man...that is strange to hear!! I along with many others here feel that the IS range sits very high in terms of ride height.....before fitting my coilovers I found that a homeless guy had taken up residence in the gap between the rear tyre and wheel arch on my car... No seriously, you must be trying to scale some monster curbs man....since having my SE put down at least 40mm on the coilovers, I haven't had a single problem getting up or down any drive/curb/speed bump/or dip...etc. Even had me and three mates in the car yesterday...the exhaust made a very tiny amount of contact with a monster speed bump at one point...other than that the car was fine on every other road surface I came in contact with!!
