Lexus Model

  1. Well my coilovers are screwed right to the bottom, as low as it will go. I think it's about a 55 mm drop. at the back end before the passengers get in it, you struggle to see any of the tyre under the wheel rear wheel arch.
  2. Doesn't affect ride quality at all mate, just reduces the roll you get around corners, there's a corner near me which you can only normally take at 15-20 (U bend) but with the coilovers and sways you can chuck her round and be accellerating while you're at it (only in the dry though!!!)
  3. They're on about bars which are even stiffer than the TRD Yellows (which I think are stiffer than the TTEs even on the hardest setting?!) I just saw one of the comments saying that the TRD Yellows were about as hard as you should get with coilovers and it made me think!
  4. Basically I think they tighten up both ends of the suspension so there is less flex, which results in less body roll being felt in the car, you really notice this when going round hard corners, but it's also noticable with any steering you do, you'll have minimised roll with the coilovers but the sway's just increase this reduction (does that make sense?!). I think because there's less roll the back end is more likely to jump out (oversteer I think) as the chassis can't absorb as much any more since the sways keep things under control. Mat C has the best explanation of all things suspension related, it's all a bit confusing for me!
  5. What settings have you got the TTE's on Dave? So that's: Aido: TTE Coilovers, TRD Race Sways (Hard) Dave: Tein Flex, TTE Sway Bars (Medium)
  6. The Prolex-uk mobile is on TTE anti roll bars and TEIN Flex coilovers with EDFC Also got the full TRD uprated bushes on :winky:
  7. I have 18x 8.5 on 35 offset. on front and back. rolling on Toyo Proxes T1-S 225/40ZR18 all round. Car lowered 35mm+ albeit on adjustable coilovers. I had slight rubbing on the front until I had the arches rolled. Now, no problems whatsoever. See HERE
  8. It doesn't take much to make it a sports car - just coilovers, anti-rolls & strut braces. Soon as I have some spare pocket money I'll be buying all that stuff, although I'll only get the real advantage a few days a year on the track.
  9. I could do with a copy of the optimum settings, I'll be having some coilovers fitted in the not too distant future
  10. Tony, its at -50 so i cant go any lower on the coilovers i have :o
  11. Errrr... what Dave probably means is: Bilstein coilovers for the GS300/400/430, which are height adjustable (like all coilovers), but this set cannot be adjusted for stiffness
  12. Welcome to the club ! I can get you a set of Bilstein uprated coilovers for your GS if its a series 2 car. They are adjustable for damping levels not height tho
  13. on mine, I think -35mm lowering is not enough specially for the rear. I am still waiting for my coilovers to lower it more :(
  14. While mine isnt as low as everyone else's I want to play too so here is My Lowered Lex :) I have no idea how much lower this is but it scraped on everything bigger than a peanut M&M. I guess it has something to do with the lower profile tyres on the 17" wheels. I had to raise it up slighty to make it practical, and now Ive sold my coilovers so im going to be high riding it again but on lowered springs, (when I get some)
  15. The dampers are new genuine Lexus ones , fitted by the dealer ... Mebbe I'll go for a set of Spax or some Coilovers, on the rear only.
  16. Here's the story: I've lowered my (standard) IS on Eibachs by 30mm...The front is grand , both for height and handling , but the rear is causing me concern. Basically the car feels very soft on the rear , I even had to put a skid plate on the exhaust it was bottoming out so much! Two up , in the front , it feels OK , but put any load into the boot , or carry any rear passengers , it feels very wallowy and crashy , hitting the bump stops far too easily. I don't drive it hard on bad roads , mostly cos I can't ! BTW the dampers were replaced all round only a couple of thousand miles ago under warranty by the dealer...... I'd also like if the rear was a tad lower say 10-15 mm..... What do you guys and gals reckon? Coilovers? Bear in mind , the roads are pathetic in places around home....
  17. i think as with all upgraded items that when you gain one thing on the other hand you will loose another the upgraded clutches will give a far better performance but the downside of it will be a bit of noise as with all items ie:coilovers / 18"wheels etc etc you cant have your cake and eat it
  18. B4 i put coilovers on i had H&R's -35 on my Sport and they were fine, even with 4 up.!!
  19. aido, since i took the pics from the time i fitted the coilovers, i have lowered in on 2 seperate occasions.. more and more!! I had to remove the little plastic flaps under the front bumper as they 'sat' on the floor!! I will have to get some new pics in the gallery ;) IIRC my Apexi's don't have rubber mount and i have no noise, however fargo does i wouldn't have thought the difference from is300 to altezza would effect it on the rear end..
  20. £800 + vat = £940 for non adjustable coilovers? sounds a lot if ya compare what ya get from the teins etc. Im sure i heard that ya could get em for around the £6-700 mark all in?
  21. these sound like sweet coilovers to me! will have to see scotts ones in action b4 i decide
  22. Im after some lowering springs for my SE something with a 35mm drop as im selling my Coilovers and going back to standard shocks but want to be lower than original ones. Im sure some of you guys who have just got coilovers wil have some kicking about :) l
  23. Does anyone have a set of lowering springs they wanna sell and bring to the meet on Sunday? Ive sold my coilovers so i going to need some lowered springs :)
  24. Can these TTE coilovers be fitted to an IS300 aswell as the 200 ? Its just that i noticed that if you was to buy only the TTE springs, the 200 and 300 have different part numbers.
  25. what are the costs on the TTE coilovers. may go with scotts set tho. I take it we dnt have to use metal pillowball mounts with these?
