Lexus Model

  1. Here's the story: I've lowered my (standard) IS on Eibachs by 30mm...The front is grand , both for height and handling , but the rear is causing me concern. Basically the car feels very soft on the rear , I even had to put a skid plate on the exhaust it was bottoming out so much! Two up , in the front , it feels OK , but put any load into the boot , or carry any rear passengers , it feels very wallowy and crashy , hitting the bump stops far too easily. I don't drive it hard on bad roads , mostly cos I can't ! BTW the dampers were replaced all round only a couple of thousand miles ago under warranty by the dealer...... I'd also like if the rear was a tad lower say 10-15 mm..... What do you guys and gals reckon? Coilovers? Bear in mind , the roads are pathetic in places around home....
  2. aido, since i took the pics from the time i fitted the coilovers, i have lowered in on 2 seperate occasions.. more and more!! I had to remove the little plastic flaps under the front bumper as they 'sat' on the floor!! I will have to get some new pics in the gallery ;) IIRC my Apexi's don't have rubber mount and i have no noise, however fargo does i wouldn't have thought the difference from is300 to altezza would effect it on the rear end..
  3. £800 + vat = £940 for non adjustable coilovers? sounds a lot if ya compare what ya get from the teins etc. Im sure i heard that ya could get em for around the £6-700 mark all in?
  4. these sound like sweet coilovers to me! will have to see scotts ones in action b4 i decide
  5. Im after some lowering springs for my SE something with a 35mm drop as im selling my Coilovers and going back to standard shocks but want to be lower than original ones. Im sure some of you guys who have just got coilovers wil have some kicking about :) l
  6. Does anyone have a set of lowering springs they wanna sell and bring to the meet on Sunday? Ive sold my coilovers so i going to need some lowered springs :)
  7. Can these TTE coilovers be fitted to an IS300 aswell as the 200 ? Its just that i noticed that if you was to buy only the TTE springs, the 200 and 300 have different part numbers.
  8. what are the costs on the TTE coilovers. may go with scotts set tho. I take it we dnt have to use metal pillowball mounts with these?
  9. :P I know Col, this was how I scratched all the underneath of my car (at standard height) when there were 4 of us in the car at about 20 stone (ston) a pop!!! The car looked good with just me in though! Was very low! OT but do you guys with coilovers roll the arches with 18" alloys as the one I saw was very close!!!
  10. I've spent some time in a car with TTE coilovers and I was impressed by the ride quality, nowhere near as harsh as I imagined they would be, and cornering is drastically improved - with the roll bars body roll is just about gone. The one setting damping does feel pretty good - they've gone for a good mixture of performance against ride quality - not too harsh but definitely much better than standard suspension. Haven't been in a car with the Teins on for a great distance so can't really comment on those mate. Only thing I would say is that with a drop of 50mm it is very easy to catch stuff - speed bumps are hit and miss and also caught a couple of things on the road while I was in the car!
  11. the race car sits on TTE coilovers
  12. Branded as in our own brand... "ASP"... made in the same factory, by the same people as many of the coilovers people on here swear by :winky: But, as your not paying for a name, for will be able to buy them for approx £500 per set.... ( Dependant on numbers...) fully height and stiffness adjustable..... should have the sample set here soon, as i have a willing guinea pig waiting!! :D
  13. lol well done for volunteering to refit my coilovers,, you the man...
  14. Remember i am doing a GB on coilovers very son.... just awaiting the trial set now...
  15. wondering what coilovers are there that allow a decent drop and adjustable dampning but without the pillow balls.. and for a fair price
  16. although in pillow ball mounts defence,, they are supposed to perform better,, but maybe for the liek of you and me, we aint gona notice the difference.. perhaps a group buy on TTE coilovers..
  17. Well i met up with fargo on sunday and he put the idea of getting TTE coilovers on my car. I was considering this b4 but with the Teins. but im realy not keen on the metalic noises that come thru the body shell with these other kits. How good is the TTE kit? i know it will be good but compared to the Teins etc in performance, ride etc. have tried doing a search but didnt come up with what i was after. cheers guys
  18. Agreed Baz but by having the settings for your car will give you something to compare to,especially if it needs fine tuning rather than STD settings. Maybe if you share your settings i will compare them to the ones that Tony sent me as were both on 18's and coilovers. :)
  19. Treat yourself to coilovers mate.
  20. As we all know this has been a very intresting site...well for me anyway :D i have been speaking to Tony via e-mails about the problems that the IS can throw up concerning complete suspension set-up especially as i have recently gone to 225/35/18 on coilovers. Tony is a bit under the weather at the mo and has asked me to inform the members of LOC that whilst he doesn't mind answering questions on the correct figures for the IS he would rather you do it directly to him through his web page Here... as he cant devote most of his time on here as he has the web site to run. Hes not going away :o as he will pop in/out from time to time if people have issues. :D :D P.S....all you need to tell him is what car/year and wether your on STD springs/coilovers/-drop with bigger wheels/tyres.
  21. Thanks Nigel, the car also comes with a set of less traumatising 19" rims so at least I have an option if the cries of "PIMP" from the pavements become too much :D I am sure I will enjoy the GS its exactly what I am after at this point in time. I can highly recomend the Aristo Vertex as I have had both the pleasure of driving and racing against Yoshis, with basically the Supra TT powerplant tuning options are endless and rewarding, even without tuning its still a very capable car to drive. Yoshi is right though, suspension is certainly its downfall with the ride being tailored for comfort, I see Tein have released the "Flexi" series of dampers for the car though. Having had experiance of Jap coilovers in the past I found them far to stiff and over valved for British roads. I am pleased to say that the "Flex" range however doesnt fall into this catagory, we have fitted it to a few cars now and can highly recomend it.
  22. I have'nt got a prob yet,and i dont want one!! but i'm about to put my new 18's on this week, tyres are 225/35/18 lowered on coilovers,How many miles should i do before i have to have the camber checked/adjusted.........for piece of mind more than anything.
  23. Not exactly. All fits like was asked, but the IS300 has different front springs. The same way the Sportcross models have different rear springs. So with the coilovers you may want to IS300 specific ones to handle the extra weight. Cheers, RX-Men-8
  24. hmmm if they are the same, i assume that the coilovers can handle the extra weight of the 3L lump..
  25. When you enter/exit a corner the chassis will flex so this will eliminate this and make a difference in handling, couple this mod with stiffer ant-roll bars/coilovers/lower ride height and it will transform the handling of the IS.
