Lexus Model

  1. positive i had them on mine when lowered on coilovers and they were fine, only on a very few extreme occasions did they actuially rub the wheel liner at the top of the front and i think you will find the monster runs with 40mm as well :D
  2. looking at the height of your car? i would be easier to lower the world than try to lift the car....lol, thing is some will be able to benifit and sadly some not, even if your tooooo low it can still be a good day out and maybe a geometry day with questions answered will be of interest, tyre wear, alignment, geometry, handling, wheels size, coilovers, arb's are an ongoing subject so a collaborated effort with a geometry meet may benifit future advice? and help with immediate problems, the date i will leave up to you all to decide.
  3. Theres no point in setting the car on STD settings if your planning to lower the car on coilovers and go lower as it will need a new setting.
  4. The cameras sit at about "5 to and 5 past" and are about ten mill high, Scorpion can give the best "can do, cant do" opinion. Lets go for it! a club meet, Free geometry check, it will be nice to see all of us face to face and conclude some geometry issuses at the same time. ← sounds cool but what sort of time/mileage should be done before the checks are done , after fitting new coilovers
  5. no, they will rub fenders. You need 42mm+ upfront, and u will most certainly require coilovers as the wheel would hit the suspension spring/seat. I doubt u can make 8.5" wide wheels fit even with right offset, too wide!
  6. if you can afford buying 19" wheels, I would settle for nothing less than coilovers, such that you can set your own drop. There is someone selling coilovers ... search the forum.
  7. The 1999-2000 models have the bits you state but the 2003+ GS300 sport don't have HID lights or yellow :yack: foglights or a large rear spoiler (only a very small lip spoiler). The biggest expense of the sport are the wheels and if you are going to change them it would be cheaper to purchase an SE and add the other sport bits. The sport isn't really lowered enough and the ride is poor so you possibly would also want to replace the suspension anyway for some coilovers.
  8. are the coilovers noisy ? what drop is obtainable with them ? what does retain top mounts mean? do the bushes make much of a difference ?
  9. OK, can offer the following for all IS/Altezza owners £880.00 coilovers (height adjustable NOT damping but retain OEM top mounts) £160.00 springs (-30 mm) £315.00 anti roll bars £300.00 Prolex-uk uprated suspension bushes(price TBC) Or even better value some bundled goodies £450.00 stage 1 Prolex-uk suspension kit (springs&anti roll bars) £1,050.00 stage 2 Prolex-uk suspension kit (coilovers anti roll bars) £1,250.00 stage 3 prolex-uk suspension kit as stage 2 but with Prolex-uk uprated suspension bushes All prices are inclusive of VAT and delivery to UK addresses.
  10. Just the age.........how many miles have you covered ? shocks etc are 4 years old..........bushes are worn............. need some TTE coilovers :P ← Got 70K on the clock. Was bought 1yr ago and was supposed to be in as new condition then. Feels so different not sure i believe its just the age difference. Just out of interest what are you recomending (are they just springs?) and what does it cost. What about fitting (somewhere in the North East, Newcastle or Gateshead would be best) :question

  12. They're good mate, I went for the T1-S in the end... The think I like is that you get total feedback so you can feel the instant the car starts to lose control (you can feel it 'floating' if you will). With my old 17's (Pilot Premacy or something like that) I never felt the backend slipping until it was on the other side of the road!!! In the wet the backend has a tendancy to break away much sooner than it did previously with my old tyres, but to be honest mate I put them on just after the coilovers so can't give a really fair comparison since they may not be like this on a standard suspension... I do get problems with the car fishtailing when the road is wet or greasy which is something to bear in mind, the road in Chesterfield where PC World is always gives me problems if I accellerate from the lights.... The T1-R's are supposed to improve in every way. One thing I'd be careful with in reviews is make sure they're reviewing the exact model and size tyre on your car - the local tyre place was trying to sell me some other tyres, it was a German / Dutch sounding name, can't remember it at the minute, and when I saw the reviews they were basing this on they were 14" tyres and not even the brand I was going for!!! You really want something that complements the cars driving style, not something that will spoil it - the Toyos seem a good match but I think I'll be trying the Goodyear F1's or the topend Bridgestones next to see what they're like - might even go down the T1-R route, will see what's available at the time..
  13. As you are all aware set up on the IS is best left to the pros....not the dealers....after numerous e-mails to Tony @ WIM i took the car over to Watford so he could set it up for me.The last time it was set-up was a few months back @ Abbeymotor Sports when i was running on coilovers, which have now been removed so im back on STD suspension but still running on 18's with the settings Abbey set it up on(-50mm),also met another club member while i was there, good to meet you Eddie(nice 300 you got there) :) Tony knows his stuff,he is more than happy to explains everything you need to know about your suspension and it was a pleasure listening to him, they are a very friendly bunch and will keep you topped up with coffee/tea while your there. The cost of the set-up is: Geometry check/adjustment £25 Wheel alignment £16.50 + vat (there are 7 adjustments on the Lex) total cost was £48.77 I paid double @Abbey(which i was more than happy with),and a dealer charges more than Abbey(though this does depend on where you go). Obviously you all have your own opinions on where to take your Lex,but my money is staying with WIM for the foreseeable future,if you want to be treated in a professional manner i cant recommend Tony at WIM enough.... Link for WIM
  14. I looked into buying either a 6, 7 or 8 before i got the Skyline. I talked to quite a few owners, and they all said that the 6 was the best. I was quite shocked by this cause i thought that the newer the car, the better it would have been developed. I test drove a 7 and an 8. Both very nice cars, and in my opinion, better than the Lex, but it all depends what you want out of a car. For me, the comfort aspect didn't exist any more after fitting TTE coilovers and low profile tyres to my Lex, so i traded mine in for the GTR. Should have done it ages ago.... it eats evo's for breakfast....
  15. Have you found out who makes them yet scott........i am truely intrested. and can you confirm where there made.Europe of Far East? i am intrested as i am trying to find cheap coilovers for the race car which can be replaced at little cost when worn out, however it doesnt matter how cheap they are if i am suspect of there manufacturing quality. thing is i am not the only person asking the questions. may sound like im being an *****, but im only asking what others are asking
  16. The GS is tuned more for comfort than performance. Did you bleed your brakes and replaced the brake oil? Did you check the condition of your pads and rotors? Replacing your pads with new pads will improve the brake feeling a lot. Also, lowering your car (using lowering springs or coilovers) will greatly improve the handling of your car. If that is not enough, you can consider getting sway bars, front lower chassis brackets and rear chassis brackets. It will make the GS chassis much stiffer and even better than a Bimmer.
  17. Not such a problem for coilovers as you can alter the height to compensate for different weights. If you were to fit IS300 springs (OEM or aftermarket) on an IS200 you may find the noise sits a little high.
  18. Don't know about the stock springs, but aftermarket coilovers or such are completely same for the IS200 as for the IS300. ;)
  19. Well I guess the shocks won't be as good as they were when new. Also worth getting the ball joints checked for any play in them. If you wanted to have adjustable shocks then the Tein CS coilovers may be worth looking at. You can add an electronic adjustment (EDFC) so you can alter the damping inside the car whilst driving.

  21. Hi, welcome to LOC :) As Bazza said in a previous post, www.takakaira.com & www.altezzasportsandprestige.com both have loads of kits listed with pics so you can see what is available.. The TRD and TTE kits are the most popular since they are what you can buy from the dealers, I recently bought the TRD skirts and rear and a blitz front lip of one off the guys on here called Zee and it looks quite nice ;) What sort of thing are you after, subtle or in your face? If you take a look in the Garage on here you can see loads of different styles, do a search for Maz's & Marcus' cars and they're some of the rarer types you'll see on here! If you look at GRiM's car he has a nice Jap front bumper which is extremely rare, and Mat C who has a couple of car's listed has another ultra rare Hippo Sleek front end which is modded. Most of the other cars have the TRD / TTE kits installed. As for lowering you're looking at springs or coilovers, I bought some TTE coilovers and they're alright, harsh but a good ride on smooth surfaces - you feel every bump with coilovers on! Think I'm lowered about 2 inches but it seems pretty low compared to other pics on here! If you want to slam it then you're looking at the Tein, HKS or Apex'i ranges, Mr Singh has his car slammed on coilovers! Springs will only really do 25-30mm before you're going to really need to go to the coilovers which go much lower. I don't know a thing about ICE but Maz & Duncan have good installs - think Mr Singh does a lot of ICE too. As for alloys there are loads out there so it's down to your tastes really!
  22. Hmmm..... I think I got a wrong intercooler, because it's far bigger than on the picture of the turbo kit. (sent you the pic via PM). But it was hard to fit, the space was very narrow on the top, because in my opinion the IC was a bit too high. We needed longer screws for that alu-bar in the front because the iC was a bit thick and high, so that the huge alu-bar in the front didn't fit there like before. You're planning 380HP?? I hope you're only dreaming..... OK the clutch shouldn't be a problem to change, but you'd have to exchange valve springs, pistons, rods, maybe camshaft...... I wouldn't know where I could get that..... :duh: Well rods and pistons I could get, but valve springs, camshaft and maybe other stuff..... the tuning market for the IS200 isn't the biggest as you can see. At all the IS200 isn't the best platform for a real performance car. Quite you can boost it up a bit, but the border is close.....I'd say to stop somewhere in the 300-340HP area.... it's far enough. The IS200 is very light in the rear and doesn't have a traction like a Supra. The Supra is long and heavy and is able to get the power down to the street. I'm sure my IS200 doesn't have 240HP now (in cause of the fuel problem), and I just have to take care at accelerating on wet streets. The HKS coilovers give much better traction than the stock suspension of course, but after raising boost or such.....
  23. Im looking to fit TEIN Flex coilovers with EFDC, and fit strut bars at the same time. Obviously I need to make sure the EFDC motors will fit with the strut bars, so anyone know which strut bars will fit with the EFDC? I'm looking to fit front and rear, and bear in mind that I want to fit SC in not oo distant future too :) Dave (Prolex) might be able to help with the front, but is not sure with the rear...
  24. I'll come and see you too mate ;) OT but you haven't tried driving her with the coilovers yet so we need to do that anyway :)
  25.
