  1. Bring on the Ireland meet!!!!! A huge convoy of Lexus/Lexi/Lexus'/Lexuses :duh: over here would be completely unheard of. Peoples gaws would be dropping quicker than Singh's coilovers. :D We have to get one organised!
  2. when I get rid of my coilovers i'm gonna be knocking on your door Mr Bones!
  3. Common problem with those coilovers mate, MacRS200 did some investigations which solved the noise on his, maybe that would apply to the Tein's too?
  4. twin 4in rolled out custom made from Free-Flow Thats it lowered on the tein coilovers
  5. Here we go, I've just nicked this from the article: It saye the boot space hasgone from 10 cubic feet to 13 in the new model... It is worth reading the article I mention in the first post of this topic, the guys driving these really do know their IS, and their comment on the handling of the standard 350 setup without Sport pack is that it is as good if not better than their aftermarket coilover setup - of course this was on standard roads so they wouldn't have been driving hard enough I guess where coilovers do come into their own.... But saying that, most driving isn't done hard nowadays so sounds interesting!
  6. The coilovers are much harder than stock, saying that the TTEs are soft compared to how some people run their cars!! The car looks great in that colour, sounds a bit of a bargain there, mine was that price at 3 years old and 54000 miles!! The hump is a great design feature, makes the car look like it's got a lot more in there then it actually has! All I can say about buying it is "do it, do it!" Look at you going for the supercharger already
  7. Think it's all down to what offset you get on the alloys mate, mine rub when I have the steering at full lock - it's a normal thing and I think eventually the plastic wears away! What alloys are they? @ Vinokirk - is that yours you got today then mate? Enjoy it :D IMHO when I went out in Ifraz's car to Gatwick the ride was better on the TTE lowering springs than on my car which at the time was on stock Sport springs. Lowered but still smooth as you like. Nowadays it's rock hard on the TTE coilovers
  8. No pics as yet but wil get the digi cam out sometime soon! Mods, mm, nothing too extreme, i'm more into styling than engine work so a few subtle mods it will be for me, i like to be original but some of you guys have done some tasteful things so i may have to follow suit! I have a list of mods that wil come together in the end and as i said above i like the dark look especially like Mr Singhs. I've already been bitten by the bug with crystal side repeaters, LED bulbs and LED rear clusters, next i think i need to do brakes and some coilovers have to be done, a long with the home mods like taking out the orange filter from the headlights, get some HIDs fitted, TRD front skirt, TRD grill, does the list ever end...did i say subtle??!
  9. has anyone played with varying stiffness settings on their coilovers (front & rear)? notice any differences in the car dynamics when set to varying levels front and back? ie. stiffer upfront .... wat happens? ..... stiffer at the back ... wat happens? just curious .......
  10. Civic's don't stink do they All depends what you want mate, if you want speed and you're not bothered about luxury, go for the Civic, if you want a bit of luxury, keep the IS, mine has a few mods now and to be honest luxury is out the window with the coilovers, different ride again to a standard car!!
  11. can sell you some nice Koni coilovers gareth :winky:
  12. I have Apexi Coily's with NO knocking, and its slammed silly. Damping is wonderful, can be smooth or slightly firmer depending how i'm driving... although its a pain stopping on the side and adjusting... if i had Teins i'd probably love EDFC!! IMO, get what you can afford... But Coilovers is a must if you plan on getting best handling and ride height perfect to your tastes...
  13. tiens will knock even if on OEM mounts would highly recommend TTE coilovers and i have had both 80mm is an unreasonable drop for a daily driver, the geometry will be not recoverable, and mr dunlop will be your best mate
  14. tein do sets of coilovers for the IS200 starting at about £560 for non adjustable dampint and about £650 (ish) for adjustable damping. both sets retain the standard top plates and quality is second to none!
  15. Btw, whats the maximum drop you can have with the TTE coilovers and the others?
  16. the TTE coilovers seem to be the peoples favourite as they retain the OEM top mounts so you dont get the slight knocking that you get from TEIN/Apexi et al. HKS are the dogs danglies but are correspondingly expensive. I stock the TTE's and am about to launch my own brand of budget coilovers. Just finalising the spring rates. These will retail at about £750 on the doorstep. The TTEs are £880..........TEIN Flex with EDFC (allows you to adjust damping from in the car while on the move) are £1500 On brakes.............there is a lot of choice. Its all down to budget really
  17. Just put tien cs coilovers on my aristo with mk2 18" sport alloys. Dropped it right down. Handeling is very much improved its like on rails now . Shocks set to stiffest setting and the ride is not at all harsh. Not a very good pic but will do some more later.
  18. right, now i've got my exhaust and induction kit fitted, next up on the mod list is my suspension! I'm after shocks AND springs, matched together. I've always been inclined to replace both rather than just the springs, IMO the car handles better, and seeing as my shocks have done nearly 70k, they are needing replacing! does anyone have any recommendations? I'm not after coilovers as I cant afford them, unless a set for £400<-- came up, then I might be able to squeeze it. Also, are there uprated bushes available? like powerflex or anyone who makes polyurathane really!
  19. my quick search has shown, coilovers offer adjustable damping too... where as shocks, just offer adjustable ride height, and i dont think you can increase ride height on uprated shocks but u can with coilovers. (how that affects me, i dont know)
  20. Doesn't that mean that they are almost the same as coilovers?
  21. Hi guys i fitted my coilovers about 2 weeks ago, the front seem ok but the back seems to be all over the place ;) Is what i would like to know the old setup i had, i used the top mounts that come with the IS. But the new Coilovers have Top mounts so i did not use the IS ones.......... ;) so guys if you could help me by posting some pic's off the back end setup, that would help me alot :D I will put some pic's up later so you can see what im on about be back in 5 mins ..........................
  22. What about the limited slip differential in the sport??? Re-selling a sport is easier as there are soooo many SE's about! What colour are they?? That amount of extra miles on an IS means little or nothing at all!! With the money you save by buying the sport you could get some nice tasty mods to start you off like exhaust, induction, tint for front windows, coilovers etc etc etc!!! I would go for the sport!!!
  23. if both cars feel the same ... go for the newer one. Cos it aint gonna matter ... once u start putting all the "other" mods on the car .... the pedals, tinting, spoiler (some say no spoiler is even better!) ..are really quite insignificant. err...i mean when u start comparing with things like induction/exhaust/coilovers etc etc ..... hehe
  24. Bro the lexus handles really well, even with the geom slighty out, you only realise it when you see your front tyres inners have gone bold ← Hmm..... I'll keep a close eye out for uneven tyre wear. Car has had three geometry checks in about 6 months (only 1 paid for! ) so I'm sure I'll be right. Really benefiting from it as I have great even wear all around. If the front tyre inners start to wear out I'll have it booked in again. Should be on coilovers by then hopefully so I'd need another geometry check anyway. I've decided I ain't going to bother with gettng the smart repair. I'll bring two nice green plants with me to TRAX and put one at either side of the car to cover up the damage if my front lip isn't done in time. I'll call it "staging" :P :P
  25. well since that time i replaced all my standard shockers and bought a tein set up from e bay exact same problem except bit louder would i jus buy a set of new standard top mounts or does it have to be special one's cause its the tein coilovers??
