  1. i can assure you mike the difference in weight over the front axles is not 500kg, the IS300 is only 150kg heavier than the IS200 maximum! and as i have said...you can quite easily use is300 coilovers on the is200
  2. Hi guys, Last Thursday my Car Battery died. (My fault again - not comments needed :P ) My Car PC power supply turn its self on at night and drained the battery - its a fault with it! Now been replaced. Called the RAC out and got sorted again. Since the battery was dead the ECU must have reset too. Now the steering feels light, like it did when I first bought the car. Since I have coilovers, TTE Antiroll bars, Chasis braces etc I prefered the steering heavier. It had more feel. Car felt tight. Can I assume that with the flat battery, the ECU must have reset and I now have to give the ECU time to acustom itself to the uprated suspension goodies? When the battery went flat perviously I usually had to wait about two weeks for the steering to go "heavy" again. Thanks, Anees :D
  3. will have a word Marcus...he's been busy fitting the new prolex coilovers to a car & seeing his solicitor :winky:
  4. My Kazama never used to when the car was on eibach springs. It does now i've got coilovers fitted. You just have to drive very slowly and carefully over speed bumps :duh:
  5. WOW!! :o Your a brave man!! I would never have done that, remember that Steve crashed his IS200 round this area last year too. Did Joe keep you entertained? Bet he kept your ears warm!!! :P RESPECT!! This maybe utter rubbish seen as I have not had lots of snow yet but with coilovers the car does seem better in the snow??? Probably my imagination however.
  6. well 3 hours later and the engine is out, all the brake lines are now removed, all the fuel system is completely removed, all that is still left to remove.....is the rear subframe so i can build it up, brace it and generally beef it up, before getting it powder coated. some pics.. Engine out, suspended on (possibly massive overkill) a 10 ton overhead crane The fuel system, handbrake cable and fuel tank....now in the skip Lots of space underneath...where the fuel tank used to be...... i recon on calculations today (not including engine) that at least another 70 kilo has been ditched in the skip :) considering how lowered the car was before......the tyres were level with the arch tops, the arch gap is now....nearly 10cm i think im gonna have to get new springs wound.......or i am gonna have to chop another coil or 2 of these TTE coilovers (defo not recommended for road use) twas good to see ellz when he popped in.......
  7. I have had them checked twice. First guy said they were ok no play in them, then had them checked again and another guy at another place said they were worn. :duh: Car is coming up to 70K now with both stiffened springs (coilovers) and TTE AntiRoll bars so as was said in another thread they are probably beyond spec. These coilovers were off Imi who had them stored for about 6/7 months before they were put on my car. Is their anything I can try lubricating at the rear of the car that might make a difference to knocking. What would I use to lubricate? :D
  8. She's fairly stock: These coilovers are great for keeping 172 Clio Sport's at bay!
  9. Have a dilemma which i need some advice on - would help if anyone has run these products before, of course. I have recently purchased a set of coilovers for my IS. Koni yellow adjustables with Eibach springs. Practically new, have been on an IS200 for <1000kms. They come with custom bump stops and should be the biz (developed on an IS200 by a guy who does the suspension for some of the V8 Supercar teams.) On the other hand, i have been offered a set of TRD coilovers with TRD sways for about half the price i paid for these coilovers. The question now is do i A. Fit the Koni's, sell the TRD gear B. Fit the TRD gear, sell the Koni's C. Fit the Koni's and TRD sways, sell the TRD coilovers Knowing next to nothing about coilovers, all i can see is that the Koni's are adjustable, while the TRD's aren't. However, the TRD shocks and sways have all been purpose built/developed to work with the car. Certainly, from a monetary point of view the TRD setup makes more sense, but i could sell it for a profit to recoup costs anyhow. Really not sure which way to go....?! Your thoughts?
  10. Just to add that I've also had the occasional clonk coming from the front passenger side of my car. I managed to get both front ball joints off ebay for £70 and had the pair changed over yesterday. There was play in both ball joints, but only one was knocking. New ones fitted and the car feels much better at the front. Just need to get the rear coilovers sorted now! ;)
  11. I'm already on Tein Coilovers and the current wheels are 19x8 ET45, running 215/35s causes no rubbing on either side, perfect fit. I just need a new set but can't find any at the same size and offset.
  12. You will have to run coilovers i think. There will be few options if you steer to the right stores, and not the ones who have 'corner bargains' Mine were made for the car/drop/lippage i wanted. @ £600ea, yeh i paid a price lol but i got exactly the look i wanted. Alot of ppl spend thousands on bodykits, which imo spoil the cars sexy curves! I spent them on the wheels to fully use those huge archs to there potential :D
  13. thanks, well i was trying to see if i could get those demon/angel eyes and just basically lookin in general for bits n bobs. ill get some pics of the car up soon. its lowered on tein coilovers 18" Ace wheels Twin exhaust (1 pipe coming out at each side of car) lots of I.C.E tints
  14. As Zee has said you DONT NEED any upgrades to the car. The TTE supercharger is just bolt on so you'll have no problem with fitting it on a standard IS whether its auto or not. Upgrades you can do are: Exhaust, Lowering springs / coilovers, brake pads, anti roll bars etc etc
  15. Neil, I have now tried 12 up for the softest and its alot better. Much smoother. I owe you alot with all the help you have given with these coilovers! ;) Still knocks however :duh: Is the procedure for setting up the rears the exact same as the fronts? I think I will take the car to Drury Lane (geometry centre) tommorow and give them a copy of your diagram and see if they can get it to stop knocking. Any tips apart from what has been covered in the other threads? :D Thanks, Anees
  16. I thought that the Apexi's had 13 different dampenning settings? :duh: What do you suggest then mate? What have you got your rear end set too dampenning wise? It is frustrating becuase the fronts the so smooth and silent so I know that the coilovers potentially are great!
  17. Guys, Its been almost two weeks since I had the Apexi coilovers fitted and have mixed opinions on them. :) On the postive side obviously the handling improvements are fantastic and suprisingly they are great going over speed bumps! Because they don't move about like the springs used to I can go over them faster then before. The springs have settled abit and the car is lower then before too (at the back). It looks great. The car is also alot more composed and feels quicker. Also they are much better with handling weight - the backend doesn't drag itself along the floor under load as it did before. :D On the negative side I am concerned that there is a problem with the rear coilovers. I have been playing about with the dampening and as a test I put on maximum dampenning at the rear. The ride was terrible. The backend jumping about allover the place and frankly I have ended up with backache! I have now put the backend dampenning on about 50% (8 clicks) and its MUCH better. The problem is that it still knocks like crazy over everything - even small things like painted lines on the road. Both the rears knock loudly and over rough surfaces the backend really does bounce about continually. The fronts on the otherhand are superb. They are so smooth. It almost feels like I have stock suspension on the front and no suspension on the back! The difference in smoothness between them is THAT big. When I had them fitted it was pointed out by Joe that he thinks the rear coilovers are faulty, because when we went for a drive I went over a steep hill at speed that cambered to the left and the backend started jumping about. With the coilovers only having done 4K I really doubt (and pray) that nothing is wrong with them. I have to send Mikes C-Spanners back this week, but all I can think of is that the rears are not adjusted properly? The problem with this theory is that Steve (fitter) adjusted the fronts and they are perfect, so I don't see why he wouldn't have followed the same theory (Neils diagram) for the rears. If they don't stop knocking and the backend jumping about uncontrollably over rough roads I think I will just put this down to experience and put sport springs back on the car (I wasn't really completely happy with the Eibachs either). Will miss the handling improvements however. :( Thanks, Anees Would love an Apexi Coilover meet to get this sorted out! :P
  18. Here's a quick pic of my car with tien coilovers fitted and lowered too low as could not get on drive without scraping groves out of tarmac with exhaust. all sorted now as remade decat to beable to lift system up to allow clearance for drive. Only just clears speed bumps if you go realy slow.
  19. A question for those with HKS HiperMax Coilovers installed on their cars.. Since these are 30 way adjustable, what dampening settings have you chosen? I have mine set at the moment of 15 front & rear, bit hard bumpy, but on the flat and cornering they are GOOD is it or should the rear be higher than the front or vice versa? I know each to their own taste etc.. just curious to see what others have set-up..
  20. Hi and Welcome to LOC. Not to sure of Aristo pricing ive seen afew forsale for around £4000. As for handling id go for the more expensive Tein coilovers. Ive been told if you change the exhaust to leave the main CAT on as that will keep the boost in check. Ive 17inch wheels on my car, they were on the car when i bought it.They still look small on the car...18s are a better option to fill the arches. I see in one of the above posts of tyre size 225/40 that seems narrow.Ive 245s on the front and 255 on the rear and the 255s seem easy to spin up with the traction control turned off and my cars bog standard. As to common problems check out the GS300 section of the site as well as the Aristo section... A common problem is the upper wishbone bushes on the front suspension on the mk1s...when worn the wheel will move in and out like a worn wheel bearing....not a cheap price to replace about £340 per side. Cheers chips.
  21. Dunno whether Gord and Imi are declaring love to your car or taking a leak over it :o Looks like I missed a good day, picking mine up tomorrow hopefully :D Hope you get the noise sorted mate, luckily this was something I never experienced with the TTE coilovers :) And is it me or have you cleaned your car :o Yes Joe is a funny guy, I know he looks on here but he's not posted anything yet so come on fella and say hello :D Can't bring you a Macdonalds tomorrow but sure it won't be long, your mrs will never know and she'll be happy in that you've been eating salad all day
  22. Nice one Anees. The coilovers certainly make a huge difference. :D You just need to stick a supercharger in your car now for some serious fun :D
  23. I hvae 19s on mine, its somewhat low and the ride comfort.... Well some are amazed how smooth it is! but i do live in Milton Keynes where the roads and nice and flat and smooth. 20s on a IS is no-no for me. Unless you went staggerd, 19s on the front 20s on the back, seen this done and it doesn't look toooo bad. Coilovers, if u can get Apexi N1s you'll be set. You can adjust ride height, strut height and damping. i don't think i'll ever use anything other than apexi for future cars!
  24. Hmmm, point well taken. If it was however a black car, because of the shadowing and lines not seeming as aparent, it may seem like the car is lower, not giving off that 4x4 look, if you know what I mean? Anywhoooo, was just a thought. Take it 19's look well. Im sure if you get a low enough profile and soft but responsive coilovers then the ride would be bareble and could look real well!? Glen.
  25. Welcome to the club matey :D I've got TTE coilovers as have a few others on here and am more than pleased with them. Excellent coilovers only problem you cant adjust the damping on them. If you can get the TTE anti roll bars also. Huge improvement I also used to have the Eibach lowering springs and these are great springs that lowr the car -30mm for a cheaper alternative. Obviously coilovers give much better performance handling wise
