  1. Why not just change the bulbs in the dash to blue?!
  2. Mate you must try Sky, my renewal was the same, went up quite a bit from last year but i tried Sky and it came down by £150+. Ok they might not be able to help everyone but its worth a try.
  3. Its very true that the reason they're clamping down on number plates is due to ANPR, and true if you know the plates your running are illegal you should take the fine on the chin. I once had my brand new ST stolen and they didn't seem to be too interested in finding it, never got it back. They do seem more interested in easy targets, tints, plates, lights etc but at the end of the day the plod are right and anyone who argues is wrong, simple.
  4. Oh right thanks for that iceman67! Thought they'd be expensive and god knows how it got a crack in without breaking the glass or anything else!
  5. Excellent thread and reference. Looking forward to the retrofit projectors!
  6. Lol knew someone would ask why! I have a cracked casing on one of mine and i seen mirror covers on fleabay, ad stated it fits Corolla and IS. But i doubted it knew someone on here would know! Thank you v.much eXOBeX! Thought maybe the parts bin was raided and shared amongst the Toyota/Lexus family.
  7. How terrible! I think he has bought all the mods from Argos! Don't mod it, Argos it! How could ANYONE think that spoiler looks good??! Each to their own does not come into it!
  8. My plate is the correct size but the font is 5mm smaller than it should be with standard font. Never had a problem with it. I've also got HID's fitted and both passed through the MOT last week without a mention. Back in the day (1997) i had my plates taken off my car by a motorbike cop due to different font and chrome shadow (very young and stupid i thought it was cool then) He said i can either change the plate there and then, leave the car where it was, or he could take my plates and he would then write on my reg in yellow crayon! Whatever option i would still recieve £30 fine! I was so mad at the time i said fine take the plates but you're not writing on my car, he then said you may proceed but if i see you with no plates down the road i can fine you again. I drove off and home (about 6 mile) with no plates at all on my car and was fine. A week later i went to the local cop shop and got my plates back and put them back on (still yong and stupid Lol) None of it made sense at all, he was willing to let me drive with no plate whatsoever rather than advise me or just fine me. Anyway a fine for an illegal plate is not a new thing at all, its simply more commonly known due to more and more poeple mis spacing digits. We all like a nice plate and i do think nowadays the plod get fine-happy with perfectly readable plates, yes silly colours and crazy fonts are a no no but mis spacing 1 digit isn't that bad neither un-readable, just like a border or logo, whats the big deal?
  9. This may seem like a weired question, thats if anyone knows but i'm sure someone will with all the knowledge on here! I'm wondering if Toyota Corolla exterior mirrors are the same as the Lexus IS200's? Thought they may have shared parts. If so what year Corolla? I know it may only be US spec Corolla's. And i don't mean the fitting plate i mean just the outter casing/cover.
  10. P.Lindblom, this is going to be very interesting. I've been after projectors for a long time now, only place i found was AAC in the USofA, but the cost once shipment was added to and from twice was extreme. Yes they sell aftermarket projectors on Ebay, some members i know have fitted them but they don't look stock enough for me, i just want my stock lights but with projectors. I'd never be brave enough to attempt it myself even though i know how the process goes through research. I'm sure you will do a great job! If some of the work you've done on your Lex that you've posted throughout the site is anything to go by i'm sure it will look fantastic! I'll follow the thread with interest!
  11. I don't notice much of a difference with fuel consumption with AC on i must say, i don't use it all the time but certainly when its a damp or wet day its set to on, auto, and it keeps the car completely clear. One thing i've found with the IS on wet days without it it fogs up real bad.
  12. I'm also looking into getting coilovers and through research found the Tein SS with top mounts the best option, value and quality wise. I certainly don't want knocking noises and from what i've read the Tein top mounts don't knock like they would without. I'm also looking into the EDFC. As for standard shocks, my car only done 62k on 2001/X and it needed 2 rear shocks on its last service!!
  13. Nice one, you done a tidy install there mate! I fitted some recently too, really surprised how easy they are to fit and they certainly make a difference. I also fitted the 6k ones.
  14. I once got a fine for this in my dads car, it was winter and it was misty, ok not really foggy, not reduced to 100m which is when you're meant to use fogs. I also got a £30 fine for it and i'm going back to 2005. It is a very chavvy thing to do, agreed, it was what seemed to be trend to drive round with fogs and side lights on, but now Xenons have taken over the trend so the chavs now drive round with 10k HID's! I have Xenons fitted and definately don't see the point to fogs aswel. As for the Audi's, they have DRL's which the driver has no control over. its across the range, standard on some models and part of a package on lower spec cars, i think its a great thing, you will certainly notice a car with its lights on before one with them off even in bright daylight which is the argument why from 2011 all new car will have to have DRL's. Alot of prestige marques already have them, Porsche, Audi, top spec new Vectra, facelift Laguna, top spec BMW's etc. I also agree motorbikes won't stand out as much when the law comes in but it won't apply to older cars. It aplies to buses as far back as 2002. By the way, people who use rear fogs when it isn't foggy are just complete idiots! Especially when they only have one!
  15. Dunno what the world is coming to?! Its true, what ever happened to the old fist fights. I heard about this too, i only caught the tail end on the news today and i thought it was in Beckton, up the road from me. There was also a fatal stabbing in Ilford the weekend, and a car chase with shots fired along the A12! Does anyone think that nowadays if you even cut up the wrong person, even by mistake that you tend to quickly lock the doors!?
  16. Thats great crazy-dee thanks. But looking at the mesh already on the bumper (seen better days) it looks as though its been made specifically to fit that bumper, is that not so? If its not the case i will just buy some proper mesh?
  17. Ok mate ta i'll give it a shot. I suppose Lexus do it themselves but at a cost? Never seen any on fleabay either so maybe it will have to be aftermarket mesh.
  18. Sky insurance are very good! As i mentioned in another post i have also gone with them. £310 with all the trimmings! Anyone due for renewal should definately give them a try!
  19. No no i definately don't like the quality of the B&Q stuff, flimsy and like you say it rusts. Thanks for the pic aztecbandit1, think it makes my mind up i don't like or want silver now. (no offence) So now all i gotta do is hunt down where to buy the original TTE mesh for my sport bumper!!?? Anyone?
  20. Hello everyone! I'll soon be fitting the TTE front bumper i've had for some time now but the mesh is really grubby and rusty. So i'm wondering where i can buy the real deal mesh from not the B&Q stuff. Oh and how much roughly? Has anyone ever tried silver or would this look naff? (Black car) I'm sure someone on here will know! Thanks guys! Rich
  21. Just wanted to give Sky Insurance a shout! Beat my current renewal by £210 and my best quote this year too! Last year with Insure.co.uk quoted me for my renewal £520, up £50 on last year. Cheapest quote this year was £320 from Likewise with a whopping £550 Excess. Just phoned Sky insurance and i'm more than (excuse the pun) happy with the £310 quote, £250 Excess and protected NCD for myself and partner to drive. Installments are also available. I'm 30, 6 years NCD, 13 years driving, no previous claims and RM postcode for my 2001 IS200 SE. Thank you very much Sky Insurance and thank you LOC for bringing the company to my attention.
  22. I used to have an ST with factory Xenons and it was the same, flash the lights and the dipped used to also come on. I'm sure its not only the Lex which has this set up. Remember one of the reason you have the function is to warn others of your presence so the brighter the better. (Also for the rallying through the country lanes!)
  23. I'm thinking along the same route, since fitting 6k Xenons the main beam is dull! I'm gonna give it a go and for £35 you can't really go wrong! Do you have a link Wozza to the ones from China? Has anyone done their fogs??
  24. I will be trying Sky Insurance next week to see if they can beat my latest quote!!
  25. Some people just go OTT with LEDs. I recently seen a black IS in Dagenham with LED strips on the outside of the fogs, tops of the headlights and the blue pinhead LEDs on the top corners of the windscreen! It looked more like an Ambulance! Lol!
