i leave my car for about 4 weeks sometimes and it is fine starts straight away and that is with the alarm set, i did get a new battery last year tho.
a battery lasts for about 3-4 years, you will know if the battery is on its way out as soon as cold weather starts because the battery will be dead
to make 100% sure disconnect it and see what happens (do u have to enter a radio code on the GS if you do this?)
It started all last winter without any problems whatsoever (and not always garaged).
My nephew disconnects the Battery to get the leads on the terminals.
Emmmm never had to enter a radio code up to now.

Dunno how old it is, it came with the car but the blue indicator on it shows it to be in good order.
I'd guess it to be 2 or 3 years old.

As the header says guys.
I work overseas so my car lies idle for months.
My nephew takes my car for a run every 2 weeks and it starts fine but if it's left for 3 weeks, the car is stone dead. It kicks in no problem with a jump start and charges up no problem.
It sits, open (unlocked) in my garage so the alarm is not switched on. There isn't anything except the clock draining the Battery.
Anyone know if this normal or should I be looking at a new Battery.

Well just back from a few days driving around the highlands and had no issues. Got home, car wouldn't lock! Tried to start "KEY NOT DETECTED" displayed! Arrrrrrrrrrgggggggggghhhhhh
Will be contacting Lexus about this - they MUST fix it otherwise I could well be the shortest ever Lexus owner.
Never had a 'keyless entry' car but I reckon this would do my nut in.

The Vertex has a 326+ BHP, so should imagine it's very quick off the mark.
The normal GS300 0 to 60 is supposed to 8.6 seconds and 209 BHP
Ahem, 8.3 and 218 bhp for us Mk2 owners! :duh:
You tell 'em mate.
we all know what a difference an extra fraction makes eh? :winky:

Well here is an interesting update...
After I had the problems this morning at home I went about my business today with no problems. I got back to the house at 230pm for similar problems to occur again. I decided to visit the dealer and of course it all worked fine. So the guy on reception spoke to a technician and apparently this is a known fault (albeit only a handful) - They are blaming Sky Satellite for this. Now this does sound like a lame excuse, but given I only had the problems when the car was outside my house this could be plausable. I'll give Lexus CS a call tomorrow and find out more.
Absolutely bizarre.
Couldn't agree more so how come A.) it's only a handful of cars..... and B.) it doesn't happen all the time.
I'll be following this with interest.
Best of luck.

Maneesh, remember we had this conversation a few weeks back.
My 40 quidder from fleabay came with a reducer to make the connection using the original hose clips (or needed maybe one new clip, can`t remember exactly).
I sent you this pic but will add it for the others.
I also shrouded the filter to prevent/cut down on heatsoak. This pic was obviously taken beforehand.
As for the 'sound'. It actually sounded better with the original intake system but then again, I do have aftermarket tailpipes.
I'll post a pic of the shroud next week if I remember. I'm off on my hols 3 days after I get home.
Good luck with it though.

I recently put 'Black Diamond' drilled and grooved discs and pads on the front and what a :tsktsk: difference compared to stock brakes. A hundred times (well maybe exagerating a bit) better. I think about 220 smackers delivered with a 2 day delivery as they are made to order.

Supposed to be LED mate but should have said it was for a pair.

White with black graphic.
Best to use the high temp paint, available from Halfrauds for a tenner. Overcoating time is about 15 mins and do 3 coats. I never done any prep at all and is still looking good.
Also if possible, get the car up on a ramp (speaking from experience :winky: ) or calipers off.

Hi Gangsta and welcome to the club.
As you're knew I'd just like to point out that emails written in capitals are deemed to be SHOUTING
I can't help you on the location but there are a few breakers on the web who will deliver an Amp (if that's what you need) with a next day delivery. I've used them a few times with no problems.
Saves the hassle of searching around the scrappies yourself to find it doesn`t work.
You get a 30 day warranty from them.
cheers.

I can only find one for the twin turbo Aristo. Will it fit my normally aspirated engine? If not, could I adapt it in some way to fit my engine? :duh:
Hey Pimp.....howyadoin'.
I thought you'd have got one organised when you were in the 'good ole US of A' :winky:
There's a company in Scotland called 'freeflow' who would have custom made one for you for about 120 notes. The owner was trying to buy my Lexus before I stepped in and he got another one. I know he made one up for himself so reckon he'd make a good job of it.
What goodies did you bring back then?????? I see you got interior blue lights. I ordered some off fleabay (from Germany) for about a fiver. Dunno what they're like yet. I get home next week though so will soon find out.

And why does 67k miles automatically mean that the car may have been clocked? Is it not possible that the car has had just two owners and they didn't do much driving hence the low mileage?
Pardon me for making an observation
-
Nah.....it's a bit pricey.
You can get a Mkll for that kind of money.
Seems very low mileage for that age and of course, the lex is notoriously easy to clock (just an observation, not accusation).

Without trying to dishearten you or anything but Lexus are one of the most famous makes for depreciation. Prices fall like snow off a dyke in spring but that`s no consolation.
I bought mines a year ago at 10k and would struggle to make 7 on it. 30% hit in a year.
Anyone notice depreciation only seems to come into play when you`re selling and not when you`re buying.

Interesting thread this.....
I`m only going from memory as I haven`t even sat in my car for weeks but mine`s supposed to be a UK model MkII with the sport box option switch and I think my handbook said the O/D switch was an over-ride switch to allow you to still select a gear if there was a gearbox problem.

Hi everybody, my radio display is faulty, it doesnt display the station name properly anymore..............has anybody else had this problem? the car is nearly 7 yrs old now?!
If so can this be solved or do i have to live with it, i dont really want to buy a new head unit!
cheers will
I assume you mean part of the letter/number is missing from the LCD.
Seems to be a common fault and you`re gonna have to live with it mate if you don`t wanna spend.
Mine`s the same.

I know it`s not so neat and tidy as having an Mp3 player 'installed' so to speak but I just use an FM transmitter with my Sony walkman and it works fine. The unit can still sit in the glove box if so desired, out of the way but of course awkward for skipping tracks etc.

I have decieded to sell or trade in my Mk2 GS 300 Sport, its a 2000 V plate in platinum ice with black leather with factory navigation. It's done 100k with full history.
What can I expect to get for it ?
Obviously trade and private prices differ but I'd guess around 8k.

Hi Paul,
all depends on what kind of service you`re after.
Any reputable garage should be able to do it. My nephew does mines as it`s only had a basic service since I got it.
If you need to go into the diagnostics there`s a company in Glenrothes who can do a check for you.
I fitted an induction kit and afterwards the engine cut out on me 3 times and he run it through the computer. Transpired it was a problem with the throttle sensor. He re-set the ECU and has been brilliant ever since. 37.50 it cost me. Dunno what Lexus would have charged but would have been a damned site more than that.

I had 20'' chromes and granted they looked pretty smart but just caused damage to the front arches by constantly ripping off the moulding and subsequently taking chips out the paint.
I swapped them for Lexus 18'' (dunno the name) and if you look at my wee website http://andrew-campbell.magix.net/ and click on new album, you`ll see a comparison of how the car looks with both sets of wheels. I think the Lexus are much better and the car handles and feels so much better with the 18s. They won`t do as much gamage to the suspension either. it has an Eibach 'pro' suspension as the only mod'.

Try these...
http://www.tte.de/tuning/website/complete-...o-external.html
Lexus Leicester sold me my 18" Chicanes, who bought them from TTE.
Lexus can offer a range.
Hope this helps

Thanks Neil.....didn`t find the ones I was looking for but I`ll keep searching.

Naff Induction Kit
in Lexus GS 300 / Lexus GS 250 / Lexus GS 430 / Lexus GS 450h / Lexus GS 460 Club
Posted
Took my car up the strip today.
1st time since I fitted the induction kit and have lost 1/2 a second on the 1/4 mile.
Car was serviced last week and a new Battery installed.
Re-set the ECU after half-a-dozen runs and it made no difference so it will be coming off tomorrow.
I even took out my golf clubs and spare wheel (which I ran with the last time) to lighten the load.
15.88 is still my best time. Anyone else got any times for a MkII 300 sport?
