  1. Hi all,

I am sure you will be able to tell me what to look for here.

The car has started to feel sort of floaty and jiggly at low speeds and sort of feels unsure at high speeds. It's so bad I don't even like driving it in the wet now...

It's like the dampers are not tightly connected to the wheels somehow, but they seem fine on a corner bounce test.

After a while I start to feel a bit sea-sick but why?

Is it something to do with suspension bushes?

It only began last week but now I am just not enjoying driving it anymore :-(

    Thanks for any help guys.

  2. Thanks for the great pics-your car looks great too-nice charging pylon in the background, yours must be one of those new electric hybrid LS400 I heard about :-)

    (far better fuel consumption figures).

As you can see from the pictures there should be a metal strip on each side of the windscreen, when its raining these stop the water running in the side window if there open slightly,i can see from the angle on your pictures if they are fitted.

I do have all my fingers :D ,so from the pictures you can see the gap in the metal, how deep they are.

Hope thats of some help fella.

    Cheers chips.

Thanks-looks like they did do it right then-wierd, I just don't remember them being there.

  4. Hi, could one of you do me a favour and look at your windscreen? I have had mine replaced and it seems very noisy and seems to start buffeting in the wind at around 80mph. I have looked at it with a quizical eye and noticed either side there seems to be a rubber or plastic fillet missing down the lenth of the screen-is it suposed to look like these pics or have the repairers fogotten to put them back in/knackered them?

    Thanks guys.

  5. If you use something like photobucket you just need to copy and paste the pics url straight on to the site to show pics. :D

I think the member had trouble fiting it to a GS rather than an LS,are the GS grills longer........i dont know ;)

Hi, I have used the chrome strip from America-arrived fine but don't expect a big package. It is rounded chromed plastic channel with some kind of pressure sensitive adhesive on the inside. Lokks great after fitting but here are a couple of tips:

Use superglue at the end of each strip or it is liable to fall off when it's sunny or it rains..

Check each length twice before you cut it to the correct size-if you cut it too short you have to order a new kit, there is no spare!

Install when it's warm so the glue is softer.

Seal the end of each piece with clear laquer to prevent water getting behind it and lifting it off.

Good luck, I think it makes a great car look even better!!!

  6. on mine [ 93] there is alarm, central locking and steering wheel all on one 20A fuse.

    Had to pull it recently

Ok, thanks, I will check the drivers door solenoid now as I presume that should unlock the doors etc. when the passenger door is unlocked with the key.

Can't be the fuse as the other doors lock/unlock, the alarm works and the wheel works ok.

Any ideas about the air con codes...

The exhaust turned out to be a rusted weld on a flange on the the big X type part of the pipes. Garage jammed some gungum in so should be ok for a while-still does'nt look anything like stainless steel exhaust though-looks too rusty to me..

  7. Hi everyone,

could anyone tell me if there is a seperate fuse for the remote locking circuit, eveything works but the remote and the drivers door does not lock automatically when locking the passenger door.

I have the procedure to check the aircon system useing the display and it seems to go throught the process fine, all the functions start and stop in order and the display shows the code-the problem is it does not stop and show a particular code, it just keeps cycling round and round-I have no cold air-could this mean there are no faults and the system just needs recharging?

One other thing, I though the exhaust was stainless steel and should last forever but I have a definate blow somewhere near the front on one side-not under the bonnet but somewhere underneath..

    woe is me!!!

    :crybaby:

  8. I have seen modded versions of the LS430 and they look sooooo good.

It is that these cars are too expensive otherwise i would go for one myself

    Movie :P

I am 38 and love my LS400!! Fuel consumption is horrendous but what else should I expect with such a beautiful 4.0L V8 in a properly built executive barge with toys aplenty that most cars still don't have as standard 10 years later?... :D

  9. Hi, has anyone had any success repairing or replacing the rev counter and speedo needles that have faded to half their normal lit length please? Would it be worth replacing them with a s/h speedo pod and if so will the same problem develop.. Can you actually buy the replacement needles from Lexus and am I right in thinking they have some kind of electro-lumin circuitry. Any ideas gratefully received!  :driving:

Hi, I think the needle prob is the same for the GS as the LS, try THIS previous thread :winky:

    Tony.

Hmm... not happy! Ah well, I will have to look out for a replacement unit from a scrap low milage LS400 [(as if :whistling: )]! Just a thought-if I get hold of a speedo pod with just the needle I need working properly does anyone know if it is possible to transplant just the one needle into my unit? Thanks.
