I've just bought an IS200 and I was cleaning the alloys but there appears to be this black stuff on there that won't come off.
What is this black stuff?
Will something like Wonder Wheels work?
What can I do to get rid of it?
Thanks

I've just had my car serviced at 90000 and as the revs die down it starts to rattle.
Mechanic has said I have to pay him to strip the engine and investigate but it could be a valve or cylinder head.
Anyone else had a similar proble?
What are people's advise?
What should I do?
Cheers

Guys,
As you know my car needed a service at 90K and today my local gagarge did it BUT they put in 10w-40W semi synthethic oil!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm ****** off big time what can I do?
Will it be OK?
Have you guys used any oil additives like Prolong, Slick50 etc?
Do they work have you used them and under the circumstances shall I try it?
Or is semi synthethic oil OK?
Thanks

Cheers for the advise all the previous services have been independent garages except for the first 2 so I think it makes sense to get it done by an independent.
Any idea of where my nearest ProLex-UK is ?
Thanks
Sunil
Getting your car serviced is your own choice - but if all its other services have been from Lexus you may as well keep the full dealer service history up.
If not, then a company called ProLex-UK run by a few members of the club have many affliated garages that I'm sure you could get your car properly serviced from. Not sure of the centre near you - but I'm sure other members will know.
Enjoy your stay! :D :D

Hi,
just bought a is200 and it needs a 90k service.
can anyone recommend a non lexus dealer where I can get it serviced?
I live in north west london.
Lexus will charge a fortune so I'm hoping an independent will be cheaper.
OR
am I mad and just to go Lexus.
Please advise as it's my first lexus is200 and it needs a service before I can drive it.
Also as I rev the engine slightly and towards the end when revs die down it makes a tapping sound any idea what this could be?
Thanks

Rac Five Star Warranty
in Lexus General Maintenance
Posted
Guys please help!!!!!!!!!!
I have a IS200 and a RAC 5 Star warranty and the car has developed a fault.
The repair is covered by the warranty BUT they say the services must have been stamped and by a VAT registered garage.
Problem
1 One of the service stamps is missing.
2 the last service was by a tax registered garage and not VAT, but he says as his turnover is small he's not VAT registered but is tax registered.
Question
1 Has anyone had dealing with RAC warranty, what was the experienc?
2 What's the procedure and what information did they require.
3 Do they need to see the service history?
4 What are my options and what should I do?
Speedy response is much appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
