  1. I wouldn't mind a set! Got an IS250 SE-L. Someone mentioned that the dash light stays on stating that you have a rear light out! Is this true???
  2. Thanks for the replies. Has anyone had any experience with them?? Re-Murphy Jim, I too have suffered stone chips although they aren't down to the metal. I also caught a black solid rubber post at a Mc Donalds drive through and cracked my o/s/r bumper lens. Ordered a new one but a nightmare to fit. I have booked my car in at Lexus Nottingham (Derby has no bodyshop) and they are replacing the lens, sorting out ALL stone chips and painting and installing a rear boot spoiler i purchased from states. There is a very small dent on the o/s/r door also. My IS250 SE-L MM CVT AUTO is also super guarded. This little lot is costing me £1,100. This wasn't the final figure but beleive it or not i received £250 discount from the manager. With regards to these flush chrome valves, there are available at Halfords. I have also seen them on EBay. I don't like them personally but each to your own.
  3. 1 of my wheels started to bubble so i mentioned it to my Lexus dealer. 2 weeks later car was booked in and all 4 replaced. Before the car was submitted i removed my Lexus chrome locking valve caps and replaced them with the normal black plastic ones. I also removed the chrome valve stems. I waited for my car whilst the wheels were being changed and on my return they had fitted 4 new chrome valves and 4 valve caps. As apposed to before these are actually chrome valve caps which are 1 unit, my existing ones were chrome valve sleaves then the chrome nut. I removed the chrome valve tips and replaced them with my Lexus locking ones and left it at that. I just thought i would share this experience.
  4. I have ALWAYS used car plan triplewax shampoo to clean my Lexus with and have had no problems cleaning the alloys after i have cleaned the car. I use a seperate sponge of course. With regards to auto glym products, i use a couple myself. I will say that the resin polish is a course polish and takes out minor scratches and is NOT very kind to your bodywork. I would NEVER use it on my Lexus, regardless. Every other month i use ultra deep shine. This is a great product and it only takes me 20 minutes to apply & remove it from the whole vehicle.
  5. Seems weird Mark, for sure! All i could suggest is try dissmantling the remote control, give it a good clean (making sure the 3 contact micro switches are intact and free from liquid ingress) with an old toothbrush and a decent cloth. Or try removing the 3v battery from the remote you are using then use the other remote supplied with the vehicle. 1 of your remotes may be faulty or be contaminated. I of course have 2 remotes but have only ever used 1. The other is locked away in my safe. Due to the thickness of the metal that surrounds the safe even if the remote was to transmit (as the vehicle when parked at home is in proximity of this remote) it cannot. Only a suggestion as i cannot think of anything else to be honest. I cannot see it being the programming side of things.
  6. I believe this feature can be disabled. I have been more concerned with my ability to forget to lock the car. As the fob is left in my pocket, I forget to remove it to lock the car. My other cars used keys, so they were in my hand when I got out and so remembered to lock before putting them in my pocket. I am remembering more often now, and find using the door button most convenient :winky: This feature (whether open or close is pressed) is time dependent. The car will bleep and the window(s) will close or open, then the sunroof will follow suite. The duration of the key press will be the length of how much the window(s) and sunroof open. If you press and hold your remote open button (assuring that ALL windows and sunroof are closed prior to doing this) then the vehicle will bleep and ALL the windows will lower then the sunroof will slide completely open also. pressing and holding the close will do the oposite of above. I had this feature on my LS430 and it is handy in summer (when we eventually get one this year) as you can open all windows and sunroof at your leisure prior to actually driving your car. The feature is also handy if you forget to close the sunroof (like i always do on tilt) as you can do it from a distance using the remote. If you are inside the house you won't hear it bleep but can see the indicators flash and of course if your watching see the sunroof and or windows close. I hope the above has been of some help to someone
  7. I quite like the colour. Good choice. I too purchased a 250 sel but had to have ALL the optional extras too. Love the adaptive cruise control. Booked in at Lexus to have the spoiler fitted now.
  8. I personally think the whole issue with buying / owning a black car is simply down to personal preference. My neighbour has a black GS300 and cleans & polishes it twice a week. Beautiful when clean but VERY easily dirty again. He has bought many brands of cleaner & polish and used to valet cars for a living. He wishes he hadn't purchased a black car now as he gets very frustrated with keeping it clean. He has no regrets buying a Lexus (His 1st Lexus). Myself i would never buy a black Lexus (Or any other vehicle manufacturer / which would never happen) Again the above is MY personal thought on this topic!!!
  9. I am also impressed by fuel consumption on my 250 SE-L. My previous LS430 drank like a fish (both early & late models) I would get around 15 - 17 mpg. I drove from from Speen (Newbury) to home (Derby) last weekend and received 32mpg. Average mph was 85. Very impressed and also love the radar cruise. Goes up or down in 5mph increments. Very handy. It actually kicked down as i was doing 80mph to return to 100mph. Just ordered a rear spoiler for it too.
  10. My guess is that nobody knows which is why nobody has replied with anything sensible. As you say think the only way to tell would be to take a bit apart and visually see which way it flows Don't think Lexus would be of much help tbh. I think you may be right. I'll purchase another one and apply both of them. Lexus offered to tinker about under the bonnet but i declined. Can i take this opportunity to thank ALL those members for there help. I am just waiting for the nav hack now! Heard there's a genius hacker out there. What pees me off is when i drove a Lex in states you can alter functions yourselves but to be honest i wouldn't want to alter some of them as they were brilliantly set out as standard set features. Oh well, such is life!
  11. I beleive i have already put this but here goes again. There are only 2 windscreens available for an IS 250. My particular screen is the top of the range one. It has light sensor, rain sensor, heated windscreen wipers. I beleive the other one hasn't rain sensors OR heated wipers. Not sure as i don't own this particular one
  12. It is aLexus IS 250 SE-L CVT Auto. This is how it reads on V5. It has MM and i had a sunroof installed and also adaptive cruise control. Illuminated sills, rear blind, full tints. (I think last 3 are standard on an SE-L?) I am thinking of ordering another fuel saver and installing 2 (1 on each pipe) Getting a bit bored of this now. Thank You to ALL who gave there suggestions / comments (The valid ones anyway)
  13. I thought these forums / topics were meant to help & advise, not take the *****!
  14. I borrowed an 07 220d from the dealer and apart from the interior mirror rattling (common especially on diesels) there was a vibration coming from the rear of the vehicle. I didn't drive it much while i had it so i wasn't that bothered by it, but when i returned it and told them of my findings they simply valeted it inside & out and parked it in a numbered bay. My theory is they aint bothered or know about it and can't be arsed to remedy it.
  15. Haven't needed a new screen yet, but both my front and rear screen were taken out a couple of weeks ago to have a minor ding in the roof repaired. The bodyshop used a contract specialist, but I don't know who. When the rear screen was out I collected it and took it to 'TintR'. Both screens were re-installed with no problems..top job. After my experience with Autoglass i wouldn't recommend there services to anyone. Especially letting them loose on your Lexus. U.K number 1 glass specialist? My arse!!!! :tsktsk:
  16. There are no warranty issues with fuel savers. My previous LS430's were both in for warranty work and this bright yellow fuel saver was staring you in the face when you opened the bonnet. Nothing was said on any visit. My tec mate said that i am to feel the pipes and the 1 i require will be warm and you will feel the fuel travelling inside the pipe. Only thing is there both warm and on this model there metal pipes too. On LS430 they are rubber which then go into metal. Managed to figure out the 430 but not the 250. I must admit that i have tried a few and this one does work. (hence the request) The only other thing that my tec mate can do is dismantle certain components to literally see the fuel flowing. Of course i am not prepared for him to do that, even if it was foc. A bit extreme for the matter i think. Anyone out there know which 1 is which
  17. I have had this saver in 2 previous Lexus LS430's of mine (1 old shape & 1 new) I did notice a difference. Even though there are only 2 fuel lines (1 in & 1 out) and they run parallel with each other, i am struggling on which pipe to install it too. Lexus are not allowed to install these on manufacture due to the possibility of them working themselves loose and falling into moving components whilst engine in motion. I already own this item, so i may as well install it. It can't do any harm, even if it doesn't do any good!
  18. Does anybody know which is the fuel line on an IS250 se-l? I have a fuel saver and wish to install it but there are 2 pipes (after removing plastic shroud) and i am unsure which is which? Asked Lexus tec and he advised to buy 2 and put 1 on each as he didn't know. Anyone out there know? Thank in advance
  19. Autoglass are jokers! I had a stone chip on my Lex and heard the advert for autoglass. I rang the 0800 number and the following day a young chap came to my house to repair it. After waiting 10 minutes for him to finish a telephone call off he simpy plugged something into my cigarette lighter socket and cracked my screen. He then said it will be £65.00 for a new one, would you like one ordering? I replied, yes! He then made another phone call and informed me that i had to pay £475 towards the cost of a new one. I suggested he got in his van and went. I rand RAC and they assured me that the £65 excess would apply and it would be 2 days to order the windscreen & clips and would i prefer to go to them to have it done or have a home visit? 2 days went by and having agreed to have it done at there's because of the English weather, 3 hours later and it was sorted. There are only 2 screens for the IS250, mine is the top of the range one. My snooper, Lexus breakdown sticker, Supaguard sticker and tax disc were all put back in there respective place. A top job!
  20. The LS430 does it so why won't they program the IS too?
  21. The dealer will NOT advise on any mods to do with sat nav on the move or mm on the move. Definate no no to them. I have a good friend who is a tec and he informed me that the limited information available to them has to stay within the dealer walls. Unless you do some diy there isn't a mod which will work on uk spec models. I have a few helpful tips for bluetooth clarity but thats about it. Having said that individual requirements are different from others. Incidentally i am referring to the main service menu.
  22. Lexus know about this problem but still insist on paying out thousands and thousands to rectify the problem as and when it arises. Where i am they are on back order. Normally any Lexus part takes 2 days to order but as wheels are in demand you can be waiting weeks. I had 1 that started to blister and they replaced all 4. Good thing is that i had slightly curbed this particular wheel and received a brand new (refurbished) one back. changing the subject slightly (i believe already covered elsewhere) they are currently investigating the Lexus IS 220D interior mirror as complaints are rising regarding vibration issues.
  23. The seats do take a while to reach a decent temperature, say 10-15 mins. With regards to the front air conditioned ones as long as you have turned the one you want on or both to cold they should work immediately as i beleive this is obtained from the heater. Try running the car for a bit (if you want warm air, as cold air should be immediate) I have 2 of these vehicles. With regards to bluetooth, sorry i can't help as one of mine has it fitted as standard. Hope the above helps!?
