  1. Unfortunately it sounds like the previous owner was a business man. They do NOT care for the car, they just drive / fuel it. With regards to keys, do you mean transponders? There are NO keys for the LS430. I have owned BOTH shapes. A 2001 and a 2005. These cars are bullet proof. Once the warranty issues are rectified i would buy it afterall. I must say (luckily) my 2005 was mint. Up to date satnav disc are £125 all in and a 12month warranty is £615. 60k service is £315. Cambelt change on a LS430 is 100k so that wouldn't have been changed. The other warranty replaced parts don't really count as they would incurr the cost. Good luck in what you decide.
  2. Oops touched a raw nerve I think, even the above should not get a dealer stamp don't like to shout but THE DEALER DID NOT DO THE WORK THEREFORE THEY CANNOT WARRANT IT AND STAMP THE BOOK And you have changed your tune, just a reminder of what you said in case you have forgotten I am able to stamp service history with Lexus stamp so not worried on that issue. Every time you are doing the service, and can get the book stamped, now it's down to an oil change. No I did As you again say if you supply that parts and the dealer fits them he will stamp the book, THIS IS NOT THE SAME IS FITTING THEM YOURSELF which you have consistently said you were going to do even though now it is just the oil filter. Getting bored repeating myself and, just remember horses and hole. I can't understand why you start of by saying that the dealer shouldn't stamp the book because the dealer didn't do the work. What did they do then? Why did i pay x amount of pounds in labour charges? They provided the labour and i provided the part / parts. Can't understand why you are saying the dealer did nothing. As i have some expensive oil and oil additive and a magnetic sump plug i initially wanted to change the these together with the oil filter. Not just the oil filter. I did also state this. In my profession touching raw nerves and horses are a regular occurrence. Can't say the same for the holes though!
  3. Someone said that if i were to walk into a Lexus dealer with a hand full of parts and say that i was intending servicing my vehicle and to please stamp my book. I DID NOT say this and DID NOT imply that i could or would do this. If you go into a Lexus dealer and say please service my car and please use oil provided by the customer or ANY amount of parts supplied by the customer (Original of course) then the dealer WILL agree to this AND stamp the book. If you were to walk into a Lexus dealer with a FULL original part service kit and say please service my car, they will and charge you solely for labour AND stamp the book. I refered early on in this topic to 'i can get the book stamped so not an issue' as i ONLY intended changing CERTAIN components (I.E oil, oil filter) Lexus Nottingham would have then changed the pollen filter, air filter and checked / topped up fluids accordingly. As to flogging a dead horse / hole digging. Whatever mate!!!
  4. As i have stated prior, i intended doing the mini service myself. I haven't actually done this. I doubt i will be now. My vehicle is only 7 months old therefore there are no stamps as yet and 2 years 3 months warranty / RAC remaining. All understood with regards to this "Epic" and i can also see what it may have come across like in my wording. I glimpsed the underside of the vehicle with a bad back and simply couldn't be arsed to search for the sump plug. My vehicles are maintained to a very high standard and i thought i would use the resources of the LOC as 99% of q&a posted are answered promptly and correctly. I did clarify the stamp issue in previous sections of this "Epic" as the dealer would honour a service / part service. Needless to say that this script will also receive criticism.
  5. Regarding Monster - Mats comments, i totally agree on the 'taking care' of factor as my vehicle is not only pristine but i go that extra bit in looking after its running and appearance. Engine bay is lacquered regularly, Zx1 engine additive used also. Presentation and maintenance are very important to me.
  6. No i am NOT stating that if you walk into a Lexus dealer with an arm full of parts they will stamp the service history. I didn't at any point state that. Also EVERY Lexus i have sold (5 in total, ranging from 10k to 35k) had supported documents and service history and WAS checked by either the private buyer OR Lexus themselves. Anyone else want to twist the knife
  7. Is this to replace the existing LED bulbs? Yes mate. Next door has a (swear word follows) BMW 330ci and the ONLY thing i like are the rear LED lights. I must admit they look great. Would love a pair for my Lex.
  8. Is this the underside of the IS250? Doesn't ring a bell. P.S Thanks Bazza!!!
  9. As you own an old IS200 sport and the sump plug is visible from inside your house, an IS250 is totally different. With regards to the mini service (1st service) since there are only 3 or 4 items that require changing i intended doing it myself. I have previously taken my own original parts to a dealer and paid for part labour charges. A dealer will stamp the service history and provide a receipt for work carried out. If you were to supply a part or parts the stamp will still be issued. As for the registration of the vehicle this is Irrelevant. It isn't for sale. And even if it was i am picky who i deal with! Amazing how these forums (especially mine) seem to get negative inputs from people who have had no real input on the subject raised.
  10. VAT registered and quite competent thank you. Having spent 2 minutes or so peering at the underside of the car and having injured my back playing sports i gave up and thought i would enquire on the L.O.C. As i haven't received any replies to its locality i am assuming it is well hidden. If you are '' VAT registered and quite competent '' why do you have Lexus stamp ??? You will find that my previous reply was "I am able to stamp service history with Lexus stamp so not worried on that issue." NOT "I have a Lexus stamp"
  11. VAT registered and quite competent thank you. Having spent 2 minutes or so peering at the underside of the car and having injured my back playing sports i gave up and thought i would enquire on the L.O.C. As i haven't received any replies to its locality i am assuming it is well hidden.
  12. Got a 2007 IS250 SE-L with ALL optional extras. Sunroof, Adaptive Cruise Control Etc Etc... Wanting to fit the bright rear LED brake light bulbs. Is this an easy install? Where do i get them? Which ones do i need? What are load resitors & how are they fitted? Thanks once again to ALL.
  13. I am able to stamp service history with Lexus stamp so not worried on that issue.
  14. Had an IS300 and bought some eyelids. Had Lexus Nottigham spray them for £20.00. My friend then gave me some windscreen adhesive (he works for Autoglass) and i fitted them myself. Looked great!!! In conclusion, get a quote from Lexus as SOME dealers / bodyshops are quite competitive. I had a set of parking sensors added to the same vehicle also, they were originally black. Lexus Notts also sprayed them at a good price too. My IS250 SE-L MM CVT-AUTO is currently having a brand new rear spoiler sprayed and fitted by Lexus Nottingham. £60.00 to spray it and £80 for installation. Can't moan at that!
  15. I am wanting to service my IS250 SE-L myself. Have purchased ALL original parts. Had the car in the air and removed a small panel (3 10mm screws) Haven't a clue what it reveiled? Had a good look around while i was there and couldn't for the life of me find the sump oil plug! Does anyone know its location? I have previously serviced my IS200, IS300, LS430 (Old & new shape) Including spark plugs but this one is baffling me. Thanks in advance.....
  16. I ordered my IS 250 and after it had everything put on it i went to collect it and in my stupidity didn't notice that the rear boot lid only had the L Lexus logo on it and the Lexus wording together with the IS 250 were indeed missing. I rang the dealer and told them and they ordered the badges. I went to the dealer 2 days later and watched them replace the badges. The Lexus wording has 2 holes in the boot and is also adhesive and the IS 250 has 2 also. I examined the boot prior to replacing the badges and there were no marks or scratches. Who or how they got them off is a mystery but Lexus failed to examine the vehicle prior to my collection so didn't dispute what i was saying. I was of course telling the truth. I still have the wrappers that the emblems came in. I have the Lexus anti theft tyre valves also, and the solid chrome valve stems. I have seen children trying to take them but just watch incase they try and scratch the car. If any paint repair work is to be carried to the vehicle i would strongly suggest that Lexus do it and it not go through insurance. Chips away or the other variants of names that do the same job are a patch up job only and you can still see the existing marks made so you may as well get it to showroom condition and it never be noticed. Again ALL the above my experiences / opinions.
  17. I am now inclined to agree to certain answers posted to this topic. Help & advice were the initial questions asked. Now the subject has drastically changed. Due to my profession i cannot really comment on the legalities of detection devices which are used in motor vehicles. All i would suggest as others have done is that if this particular discussion is to be continued then we focus on the initial question(s) asked. Regards....
  18. I have the Snooper S4 in my Lex. Had the S3 previosly. I like the Snooper range and used to own the old range, no subscription ones. It is hard wired and you can only see the plug that goes into the unit from outside when you look at the windscreen. Great units in my opinion.
  19. I have ALWAYS had a Lexus courtesy car. Can usually pick which one i want too.
  20. Load resistors? easy to install? Obtainable from? Last but not least, does it look good when there fitted (bulbs that is?) THANKS.......
  21. And wheres you're Aston Martin.....? :D I've bought 6 Lexus (Lexi) vehicles. A classic car. A Rolex. A diamond pendant. 2 plasmas. Loads of electrical items. Mobile phones. Etc etc etc.... 95% have been new items from stores. Others from reputable members. I will say that it's VERY easy to get carried away.
  22. They should abolish EBay. I've been a member for 2 and a half years and spent over 200 thousand pounds!!! Yes 200 NOT 20! At least my feedback is still 100%, very hard to mantain. 718+ points too.
