  1. I keep mine in a Faraday box because I don'y fully trust the electronics involved, plus there was a member on the Tucson forum who tested his fobs quite rigourously and found that one of them wasn't as reliable as the other one. Better safe than sorry in my book.
  2. I have now loaded my music onto another 64Gb drive that I formatted to ex fat. Still no joy, so I will now cease trying - I think 😉
  3. Previous to my new NX I owned a hybrid Hyundai Tucson. The battery system was similar to the Lexus, except that the 12V battery was a small lithium polymer battery, both in size and capacity. That system used to give depleted battery problems also, in that when the battery was running low on charge when parked, the system would cut power to certain functions and settings which would need resetting when the car was next started. It was somewhat aggravating to start with, but as owners became used to it and realised it was normal for the hybrid version, we adapted to the system. Some owners did however manage to deplete the 12V battery to the point where manual entry to the car was necessary. In the Tucson (and the Ioniq) a reset button on the dash was provided to get enough charge into the 12V battery from the traction battery to be able to start the car (I can't understand why Lexus haven't done similar). I had to reset certain parameters on numerous occasions and although I never suffered a completely flat battery, I was bothered that I might as I do leave my car unused for 3 - 4 weeks at a time. And so to my point (apologies folks, I can't do things in shorthand) and I don't really expect people to follow my example. This is for info, whether anyone wants to do it is their choice. The anti theft alarm on the Tucson was abysmal and hardly anyone takes notice of them nowadays anyway. As you probably already know, the interior alarm system is still using battery power when the car is switched off, so I used to turn off the interior alarm when I was away from home for a while. Whilst not directly comparable to the Lexus as the 12V batteries are different, by using this method I was able to open and start my car after it had been left unused for 4 weeks. Some people wouldn't want to turn off their alarm like this, but as the Tucson alarm was weak and didn't last that long I thought was worth the gamble and I did/do use a Stoplock, plus some other antitheft measures. Here's a minor rant; Manufacturers and dealers of cars should be made by law to inform the buying public that their car could be prone to these problems, the same as they may well suffer blocked GPF problems if they constantly use their cars for short journeys.
  4. I'll give it another go if it ever stops raining 😒
  5. No rush and I would appreciate it. I contacted my dealer today, who confirm that there is a fusebox in the passennger footwell as you say, so I cannot understand why I can't see it !!
  6. Thanks for your help guys but I've given up on this now - too many hoops to jump through and since I hardly ever listen to music in the car now, it isn't worth the trouble. I did offload the music onto the computer and did a normal format first, but reloading the music was at a snails pace, so I gave up. Maybe I'll revisit this one day when I'm bored.
  7. Apologies if the above post is a bit garbled. Not sure if it's my fault or my laptop, however I expect you get the gist.
  8. I'd assume the same, but Lexus and Toyota have been prone to theft in recent years, so I wouldn't discount it.
  9. Maybe a bit of useless info, but I've been a bit obsessed with car security since since I bought my last car, a stealable, black Hyundai Tucson. On that car the the key fobs went to sleep after a few minutes of lack of movement and stopped sending signals to the car, thereby preventing relay theft. I don't know exactly how long it is before the fob goes to sleep, but I left my fob undisturbed for 7 mins which was long enough. I asked the sales person when I picked up my car on Friday if my fobs did the same, but he didn't know, so today I experimented and the answer is yes yes they do - I'd have been disappointed if they didn't in this day and age. Yes I know there's a way to disable keyless entry via the fob and this applies to my car and so I can't speak for other years and models, but I'd like to think that any model coming out of the factory recently will have the same feature. I don't rely solely on this feature and keep my fobs in a Faraday box and generally use a Stoplock as well, but it's good to know that my fobs have this feature.
  10. Thankyou Colin, that's very informative. I'll give this some thought before attempting it as I don't listen to music in the car much nowadays. You might wonder why I'm bothering, but it will represent a challenge in my quieter moments, so thanks again.
  11. Tried another memory stick of 8 GB and it works, so no idea at present why the other one won't work ! 😔
  12. I haven't had much opportunity to test it yet, but I did ask it to take me to a nearby town today and it did and it rang my wifes phone when asked. The system doesn't seem as good as my previous car, which is mildly disappointing, but I'll get used to it.
  13. Well I've just been back in there with a torch and I cannot see it. A Google search says it's in the drivers side footwell, but I think that's for the LHD market. For the moment at least I've wired it in using the OBD port which was less than a 10 minute job. Trouble is, there's no light on the plug to indicate whether it's switched off or not. If you get the time is there any chance you could take a pic of where the fuses are ? Thing is, even if they are located behind the glove box there's no room to work in there. There is a fuse box under the bonnet, so I wonder if it's been relocated on the latest models?
