  1. Thanks guys. The colour code is 9AL, a bit of a rarity. I'll see if my Lexus dealership can supply a touch-up stick unless there are any other suggestions.
  2. Mine's a 2010 250-C in slightly-purple dark blue. I'm blowed if I can find the paint code sticker. The several hundred pages of manual cover about everything from wheel balancing to speech recognition but don't tell me the paint code. Can anyone help me locate?
  3. If someone down the pub told me that they were getting 60 mpg off a family-size petrol car, I'd says - Yeah, pull the other one. I took my new ES on a Sunday trip for lunch down the Hertfordshire A1 on a 70-mile round trip and also got 60 mpg. My old GS300 would have barely scraped 30. I wonder how long I will go on the dealership's initial fill-up. Just as well given the challenge to get petrol these days!
  4. I thought I would chip-in on this thread. Mine's a Premium Edition picked-up a couple of weeks ago. I've had five Lexus' and not much to complain about. The ES replaced a '98 GS300 which I had for 23 years and it never put a foot wrong. Toyota/Lexus are to be admired for the durability of their cars. The ES is designed to entertain as well as drive nicely. Loads of little features and the driver information on the dash make for a most pleasant outing. Even on the humble Premium Edition all the important goodies are there. Also getting 50+ mpg on a run (I got 24 on the GS) is going some for such a big car. In particular, it sticks to the road like glue on cornering and is no slouch when acceleration is needed. I do have one gripe which I'm going to take up with Lexus. On the Premium Pack the door mirrors fold in when the doors are locked (or optionally when the power switch is deactivated). You can't have the Premiumr Edition and Premium Pack in combination and as stated, you don't get the big display on the latter. All of the components are there to make it happen - the windows and sunroof can be dealer-set to close automatically on locking, but not the mirrors. The mirrors are motorised by manual operation of a door-mounted switch. Lexus have 'remmed-out' the mirrors command on the Premium Edition although it would cost them nothing to include it. This is very un-Lexus. The facility matters to me as I have it on my other vehicles and a casual glance gives me assurance that they have been locked for the night. Like I said - not much to complain about!
  5. This topic prompts a question from me. I am due to take delivery of a new ES this week. I have gadgets to fit within the cabin which includes a windscreen-mounted dashcam. Where is the best place to take an ignition-switched 12-volt supply from? On other cars the easy answer has been to plug-in to the cigar lighter socket but I would be surprised if the ES has one.
  6. Hi Neil, Your post caught my attention. We IS250-C owners are a privileged breed and I believe that there are just 300 or so registered in the UK. Mine is also a 2010 and I think it is an SE-L - it has light beige leather and just 21,000 on the clock. Genuine mileage as purchased from a Lexus dealership in 2016. Thankfully it has never given a moment's problem and the same can be said for all of the other Lexus models I have owned. This includes a GS which I have just sold with over 200,000 on the clock. The IS250-C roof mechanics are a work of genius and unequaled by any other manufacturer. I was intrigued by your add-on of a DAB adaptor as my radio has DAB built-in. Am I missing the point? Anyway I listen to a US station, iRadiophilly, most of the time on my iPhone bluetoothed through the head unit. I hope that you continue to enjoy your car as much as I enjoy mine. Don't think I'd leave my IS-C at Asda . . . . . . . maybe Waitrose.
  7. apologies for my ignorance but if you have a video source on your iPhone and a physical USB connection, will it mimic it up on the ES display?
  8. Yes, I agree. In lesser models of the GS300 (like the one I have) they used Alcantara, a man-made suede which was lovely. Cost as much per metre as leather.
  9. Good to know your view on this. I discussed the issue with my contact at Lexus UK. He told me that there is a growing culture in Japan that while many of us eat meat, it is wrong to use animal products for other purposes, such as sitting on their hide or for shoes. Interesting perspective.
  10. Mmm. I have same on order for September delivery. Any comments about the seat facings? I remain to be convinced about the Lexus Tahara 'man-made' leather. I suppose it sounds better than PVC.
  11. Peniole, Some most interesting observations. Which model ES did you get?
  12. If anyone's looking for a good GS300 with leather/navigation and needing a bit of paintwork for very little money, my beloved car is up for sale on E-Bay. We've been together for 23 years and never a cross word. Auction finishes early Sunday (tomorrow) evening.
  13. Hi Phil, Yes, that's about the size of it. It displaces the £2,000 PCP contribution which would be increased by £750 if you have an existing Lexus. The big question is whether it would eliminate the dealer-level discount which would otherwise be negotiated. My prompt for bringing this up is that I have a '98 GS300 which runs well but has not sold on e-Bay. Scrappage was not mentioned when I did the deal for a new ES to be delivered in September.
  14. Have any of you chaps purchased via the Scrappage route? Lexus appear to be offering a generous £4,000 taking your car for scrapping against a new ES but other incentives such as the PCP contribution would not apply.
  15. Steve, You may well be right but I have used these on other models (including my IS-250C) and the result has been pretty good.
  16. Has anyone fitted chrome-finish door handle covers on a '21 ES and would recommend a product?
  17. Good for you! I assume that it a Mercury Grey F-Sport. I suspect you may also have the Takumi Pack Same colour at the Premium Edition I have on order.
  18. No doubt, that's wise advice. My cars have never been puncture-prone and I'm putting a problem where there isn't one. I'll discuss it with my shrink at this week's session.
  19. Thanks Colin. Hmm. I'm not over-happy about this. Do you think it worth buying a spare wheel & tyre (a few advertised on e-Bay) and storing it in the garage?
  20. Returning to the subject of a spare wheel, is there a 'well' in the boot floor that will take a full-size 18-inch spare wheel?
  21. Steve, Hi. There is something about your post that speaks volumes. My order for the ES is based on perception rather than experience and in the case of Lexus (or is it Lexi) I have never got it wrong. If I can assume you had a free choice of what make and model to change to, what urged you to change to an ES for a second time? Mike
  22. Colin, Thanks for your input. I didn't know a revision is planned for early next year. No matter - I like the car as it is. I was referring to the April update with the introduction of the Premium Edition.
  23. peniole, Is yours the April 2021 facelift model and does it have the larger display? I ask as the most recent PDF documents on the Lexus portal are dated 2020 and may not be up to the latest software. Also is there a spare wheel or is it just a tube of adhesive and your bus-fare home?
  24. Thanks for the response. Pray tell me, what was wrong with the tyres?
  25. Hi all. This is my first post as I have an ES (Premium Edition) on order for early-September. This will replace my GS300 which I've owned and loved since 1998. I also have an IS250C which is kept in readiness for when the sun comes out. I have been occasionally active on the US forum but not the UK one. It seems that the ES has not been a great seller in the UK and the dealers I have engaged with agree with this. I don't care, it floats my boat and it has worked in my favour when it came to final pricing. I've picked-up from previous posts that one has to beg to get a copy of the navigation manual. Any there any other nuggets of information or general advice which might help me? Mike
