Absolutely - no question in my mind🙂
-
Well, I hope that’s the case when I get mine back😉😉
-
One thing I’ve noticed since getting mine…..Lexus cars on Cornish roads are very rare….something to do with the nearest dealer being in the next county perhaps? I like the rarity if I’m honest….and since I got mine, it turns heads….something which the 1 year old UX F Sport courtesy car continues to do👍👍 it deffo holds its own in the company of Mercs, BMWs, Audis and Range Rovers😍

So, the cause of all my new UX ownership woes can finally be revealed…..the driveshaft has failed…after 20K miles. The dealer kindly rang me earlier and broke the good news…good in the fact I now know the cause. They have to order a new one direct from Japan, which will take another 3 weeks or so….so I’m stuck with a year old 250h F Sport courtesy car in the meantime😉once my car goes like the courtesy car, I will be happy🙂🙂🙂🙂

Ride quality - specific observation
Pauly C replied to XML's topic in Lexus UX250h / UX300h / UX300e Club
Just out of interest - why are you going to all this trouble and cost? If you don't like the way your car rides, get a different model...or a different marque altogether😉 -
I bought a 5 year old '59 reg BMW E91 325i Touring 10 years ago. It had the last naturally aspirated 3 litre straight six petrol that BMW stuck into a production car. It had all the bells and whistle...and everything was electric. I came to love that car. It proved to be quite reliable over the time I had it....and I got to know what would go wrong and when (I'm chiefly talking the coil packs here, which only lasted for around 40-odd thousand miles. When one went, you lost a cylinder, and it was rough). Other things that went wrong whilst I had it included the ABS sensors...one after another, until all 4 had gone and all at £170 a pop to put right....and the injectors...can't remember the symptoms that led to their replacement, but that was a hefty job which cost around £1200. The electrics were perfect - nothing went wrong and all bulbs etc. were original up until the point I part-exed it. I was struggling with regards what I would replace it with. Didn't fancy a newer twin-turbo BMW.....much more to go wrong. Wanted Japanese reliability, that came with a bit of badge snobbery. Tried a 3 year old C-HR, interior too plasticky and tatty (not a patch on my 15 year old BMW interior tbh). Finally settled on my UX 250h F-Sport....which is back at the dealers for the last time...they either fix it, or I reject it and get something else (a long story, details for which are elsewhere on this forum). If, as a result, I get my car back and it goes like the UX 250h F-Sport I have as a courtesy car, I will be happy and will keep it for at least 5 or 6 years...and probably get another Lexus when it goes. I've not had too many cars over my lifetime, but the ones that stick out are my first - an Audi 80 LS '76 P - reg, and an old Volvo 850 2.3 Estate - built like a tank but drank like a sailor (I'm ex-RN myself, so I know how sailors drink)...I don't remember much going wrong with either whilst I had them.

Ride quality - specific observation
Pauly C replied to XML's topic in Lexus UX250h / UX300h / UX300e Club
Interesting….I still have ride quality questions on my UX. ….but I’m starting to think it’s not the tyres. My ‘resonating’/‘shivering’/‘shuddering’ or whatever words you want to use, come and go….most notably in the power band, going up hills. Never had any issue whatsoever like this with my last car…my UX just does not feel ‘tight’ in such situations….like a 22K mile Lexus should🤔 -
It gets better…..collected my car on Saturday….no one able to articulate tests done, findings and any remedial work as a result. Got no call yesterday to explain, as agreed would happen. Chased them myself…was told such a call was “….not something we normally do….”. Cue terse e mail to manager…..cue a call today from Aftersales manager….who told me the service dept. were not expecting my car to be collected by me and taken home on Sat. WTF!!!! Told Aftersales manager they are now in last chance saloon….car going back….again…later this month…so that’s two wasted 4 hour/200 mile round trips. I will be wanting a full diagnostic check done, with a clean bill of health…..and I should be getting a newer UX 250h F Sport as a courtesy, so I can compare the rides. You couldn’t make this up….none of those guys appear to talk to one another, and me - the customer, caught in the middle. I won’t name them just yet….suffice to say they are around 70 - 80 odd miles up the A30, out of Cornwall😡😡😡😡😡

Realising I probably sound like a broken record by now...the issues with my car have still not been satisfactorily resolved by the dealership in question...admittedly, I'm still not 100% happy with the car....I'm now at the point where, if I don't get that (promised) call from a technician, by COP today, about what checks they did with my car, what they found and the action they took...it will be one more E Mail to the general manager as in "...I'm still not happy (because of a, b, c and d) what are you going to do about it...?" and then, in all likelihood, an approach to Lexus UK Head Office. Jeezzz....what do you have to do to get things done..??

Afternoon Tony - I'd be really interested in your (initial) thoughts on how your UX drives. Would you call it a dual carriageway/motorway cruiser? If not, why not? My current issues to date are well publicised on this forum - would appreciate your thoughts on the issues I seem to currently have. What I would love is to be able to spend time with another UX and see how it compares to mine.

The thought of a bad plug has crossed my mind tbh. Thanks for your thoughts Gray….I will prep some notes before I speak to someone today. They obviously took it out for a test drive or two whilst they had it for the week….overall MPG had gone down by over 5 MPG and not a lot of fuel left in it😉

No to your last Don. Bought it early August so understand I’m outside of the 30 day window, but of course inside the 6 month window. My starter for 10 will be a chat with a tekky tomorrow., and he’ll get all the details, along with my frustrations. I see that stopping using my car would appear to strengthen my case, but not sure that’s an option. By continuing to use it, I run the risk of having a greater chunk of money being taken off any refund. I will see what the tekky guys says before deciding my strategy.☹️

Well, got my car back from the dealer after they had - finally - replaced my door mirror and looked into the rotational rubbing sounds coming from underneath as well as the juddering I'd previously reported (for which, at the moment, they've fitted 2 new front tyres). I'm told I'll get to speak to the technician that worked on it sometime on Monday. However on the drive home, I note the car still appears to suffer from the following: 1. Juddering/shimmying when the car is under load, most notably going up an incline (it will either be in the mid Eco band or mid Power band). This can last up to around 10 secs or so, normally up to the point I release pressure on the loud pedal. 2. I'm now getting a quick fire vibration through the steering wheel. It was most noticeable during the first part of my journey home, but was still evident by the time I got home just over 2 hours later, but less so. 3. At one point, I'd stopped in traffic - still in Drive mode - with my foot on the brake. Engine came on and it was what can best be described as 'chugging'....not running smoothly. I pulled away, obviously under load as I was (gently) accelerating, and there was the juddering again. 4. The car is pretty much ultra smooth when I've lifted off the loud pedal going down an incline. I thought that a Lexus should drive like this all the time. 5. The ride is still 'fidgety' (which I can live with if that is a characteristic of the way an F Sport UX 250h drives), but I'm somehow now reluctant to invite any form of acceleration - especially up hills - as I know the car will start to shake, not violently you understand, but enough to tell me that something could be amiss. 6. What is the way ahead? I'm not saying anything to anyone - except you guys - until I speak to a technician on Monday and get his thoughts. After that? Who knows, but bottom line I'm not 100% happy with it. Is it indeed me, or do UX 250h's drive like this, and suffer from these issues? Have I been spoilt - to an extent - by having owned a BMW 325i for the past 10 years and which had a 3 litre naturally aspirated straight six petrol engine (the smoothest engine I've ever known)? Guys, I'd really appreciate any detailed thoughts you might have🙂

SatNav Confusion……
Pauly C replied to Pauly C's topic in Lexus LBX Owners Club - The All-New Lexus LBX
Cheers for the reply Tel. Unfortunately too late now, car’s gone back and I have my own back. All those views of this post and you’re the only one who bothered to reply……🤔 -
Know what you mean…..my courtesy car hasn’t shut up since I got it. How far are manufacturers allowed to go, before that line is crossed between so-called driver aids and driver distraction? ….and yet they prosecute people for being on their mobiles..?🤔🤔🤔☹️☹️
-
I get a 'splittable' screen on my UX's display....navigation in one half and all sorts in the other half (inc. the aircon/driver comfort situation, which is my current favourite). I'd be surprised if indeed the main screen display on your UX cannot be split😉
-
Guys, I have an LBX as a courtesy car. My own car is a UX, in which the SatNav is so easy to turn on and use. Can I manage this in the LBX? No I can’t…..any simple, step by step guidance on how I do it? FWIW - I do not currently have a smartphone I can link to the system. Many thanks in anticipation🙂
-
Well I think you’ve done well…I am genuinely surprised. I had my BMW for over 10 years, always had run flats….so I guess I’m used to them by now.
-
…..whilst it was legal to do so of course😉

My 250h - First Impressions
Pauly C replied to Pauly C's topic in Lexus UX250h / UX300h / UX300e Club
Cheers Don. Interesting…..my UX tends to do it in the same kind of scenario. I’d perhaps say judder is too strong a word….more like a very rapid ‘shimmy’, that comes and goes, and lasts for around 10 secs or so. Did it the other day, as I was taking it to be looked at, but this time was in the Eco band but still under gentle acceleration up an incline. Generally speaking I find the ride ‘fidgety’ and the ride on the LBX courtesy car I have is pretty much exactly the same….so the ‘shimmy’ doesn’t help I feel. Anyway, when I get it back, and if it’s something I have to live with then fine👍 My dealings with the dealer involve other bits too…..but hey, as I mentioned to them as I dropped my car off, if they can sort the couple of bits out, replace the mirror free of charge I’ll be happy. To their credit they have given me two tanks of fuel, for which I’m grateful🙂 I can’t ask for much more🙂 -
As documented elsewhere, I noticed a wing mirror on mine was broken 5 days after collecting it. I was ‘lucky’ enough to be able to prove it was broken before I bought it. I wasn’t too enamoured with forking out over £500 for a new one. Apart from that the average mpg was reading mid 57s when I left it at the dealer for a new mirror and a couple of other bits to be sorted. I guess that will take a dive over the 100 mile A road journey back home☹️
-
I’ve had mine in EV mode at 76mph😉 ……and the light stayed on whilst (gently) depressing the loud pedal….but not for too long I hasten to add🤣
-
I don’t know if LBX drivers can tone down the steering wheel response….or whatever its called….but I might suggest drivers really need to be wary of that….if you get my drift🤔😉
-
Welcome. I’ve got an LBX as a courtesy car for the next few days….it gave me 3 different variations on its driver warning system coming home yesterday..at one point telling me my eyes were closed🤣🤣🤣🤣 it goes well enough, and I could get used to the auto braking system….but the lane monitoring system is definitely disconcerting and what it does with the steering wheel…one aid I’d definitely switch off🤔
-
Just got mine up to 58mpg, on a mixture of roads also. I fear it'll take a dive once I get the opportunity to get it back to the dealers, 2 hours up the A30, to get it checked over🤔
