Without wishing to pop down some kind of rabbit hole here... I would respectfully suggest the 'group of people' you mention Colin was, effectively, made up by Paul (Old Man 2)...so, if Paul chooses to make up a theoretical group of 'oiks' that emanate from somewhere within the Midlands area, who are we to judge against that? He's expressing his opinion, so why not let him do so? 🤔🙂

New wheels - does an inch or two make a difference
Pauly C replied to Smellyone's topic in Lexus SC430 Club
"Current tyres coming up towards 10 years of age" Eh? 10 year old tyres on your car? Or have I missed something here?😉 Personally, I'd stick to 'standard' every time😉 -
As others have alluded to...what's with this thing about making current/future motoring much more complicated that it needs to be? It's ridiculous, reading through all these little tips /hints/tricks people have kindly provided, just to try and ensure we can all drive our cars without thinking too hard, or worrying about it. It shouldn't be like this....manufacturers take note....people just want to get in their cars and drive...so sort it out🤔

Security shield and tracker
Pauly C replied to Booler1949's topic in Lexus UX250h / UX300h / UX300e Club
Not heard of the Alpha OBD device before, but like the sound of it. Will drop my dealer a line. Have the tracker already fitted. Thanks for sharing Robert👍- 1 reply

Returning / rejecting a Lexus Select car
Pauly C replied to Mikey B's topic in Lexus General Discussions
Was it ever disclosed which original Lexus main dealer we’re talking about here? -
Do we have a thread somewhere on here, where owners can post pics of their current rides? If not, post them here....I'll pop back with shots of the sonic blue UX once the weather down here starts to behave....😉

Parking slot looks totally inadequate - have you parked it in the right place?😆
-
There MUST be cheaper options somewhere online? I read somewhere on this forum that you're looking upwards of £500 for a grille badge. Ridiculous in my honest opinion🤔
-
They grow dirt up there don’t they?😉
-
Not totally convinced, by looking at the 300h figures, it will make that much difference at all tbh🤔 No, I’m happy with the 250….and love playing the numbers game….currently at 55.6 mpg overall👍

Cheers Colin. Yes, not a fast car, but I knew that beforehand. It keeps up with the traffic OK but, as I say, can die a little going up long sweeping hills. I didn’t buy it for the performance admittedly….as no one really goes anywhere that fast in my county😉 For driving around down here it’s perfect - fantastic economy, very rare, looks good, comfortable and completely satisfying on the badge snobbery front😍 Time will tell on the reliability front, - now it’s fixed and running properly - and after the bad start to Lexus ownership I’ve had🤔 No, I will leave as is

What new owners should know
Pauly C replied to Billeo's topic in Lexus RZ Owners Club - All-New Electric Lexus
🤣🤣🤣🤣my LBX courtesy car warned me twice about that on the way home with it….once for having my eyes closed, and once for for looking the other way🙄 -
Are there any recommended tuning packages out there for a UX 250h? Or do I not play around with my UX in this respect? Do I need to worry about what such a tuning package will lead to, if the car can't cope long term from such tweaks? What are your thoughts? It's just that I sometimes wish it goes up hills a bit better, and has a little more torque when I need it....

What new owners should know
Pauly C replied to Billeo's topic in Lexus RZ Owners Club - All-New Electric Lexus
The best of luck with all that my friend. By the looks of it, the newer the car - the more bings/bongs/warning chimes you'll get. As I've said elsewhere, my car is 4 years old, and I don't have to put up with anywhere near the amount of bings/bongs/warning chimes I got in my 2024 LBX courtesy car. It somehow makes me laugh that plod can prosecute drivers for being on their mobile phones whilst driving, whilst car manufacturers can drive drivers to total distraction with infinite warning signals from a cars operating system without fear of any comeback...beginning to beggar belief🤔 -
Notwithstanding the above, I am (very) reliably informed a driver does not need to go out for a thrash up and down the motorway to charge up a half dead battery…..having the engine idling (if you can get it started) will charge up a battery just as quick, and will use less fuel😉

I’ve got a Lexus it’s a Japanese import
Pauly C replied to Richard Murphy's topic in New Members Area
Er, so what happened to the OP's question? Indeedy, what happened to the OP? Is he real? Or is he a figment of our imagination? -
White LC 500, private plate, spotted in a Falmouth car park this morning. Very nice car, could do with a polish😉😉😉🤣🤣🤣

I’ve got a 2020 UX, and I can pretty much just get in and drive it without too many distractions. I agree with everything you say regarding the distractions, especially the steering wheel ‘grab’ - which is dangerous imho. Sure, I get the odd bong - like I got in my 15 yr old BMW - which makes me look up….but, for the moment, it’s the speed camera warning. I guess I’ll get double helpings on the bong front when the weather gets colder. Moral of my story? You might consider getting a slightly older lower mileage Lexus, which won’t distract you too much🤔🤔😉😉

replacement key cost £600
Pauly C replied to John Ms's topic in Lexus NX300h / NX200t / NX350h / NX450h+ Club
I like to think I have more sense than money…. -
Lets hope you don’t have anything like the faff I’ve had with my UX. Any dealer, that you may have bought it from, should sort this out…at no cost to you. If you bought it from a Lexus dealer, even more so…things like this, along with the issues I’ve had, just go to to prove that pre-sales checks are - to put it bluntly - absolute cr@p…make sure you pull them up on that one😉

replacement key cost £600
Pauly C replied to John Ms's topic in Lexus NX300h / NX200t / NX350h / NX450h+ Club
Nope, not the glass….the whole assembly….who’d pay £520 for a bit of glass?🤔🤔😉😉 -
replacement key cost £600
Pauly C replied to John Ms's topic in Lexus NX300h / NX200t / NX350h / NX450h+ Club
A bit like the £520 it could’ve cost me for a new wing mirror. My car came with two keys….and it’ll go with the same two keys🤔😉 Really not sure how such prices can be justified for lumps of, what are effectively, plastic🙄🙄😡 -
Activating the Lexus provided Tracker
Pauly C replied to CraigB's topic in Lexus NX300h / NX200t / NX350h / NX450h+ Club
I think the key word here is ‘register’ not ‘activate’🤔 as long as you’re able to ensure everything is registered, activation takes place if your car is actually stolen🤔 as I say, I have one fitted, but no evidence to suggest it’s registered. I’ll be back onto the dealer and Tracker next week🤔🙄🙄 -
Yep, understand all that Stephen, and know all about the CVT system🙂 But when I put my foot down in the courtesy car (a 2023 UX 250h, not a 300h) the effect was exactly like it had dropped down a cog or two. Maybe the newer engine management systems effectively pitch the revs higher & quicker, and the newer cars effectively catch up quicker?
-
The 2023 courtesy car I had for about a month (F Sport Design) had a kickdown feature which effectively shifted down by up to 2 gears, depending how far I put my foot down, and then taking off like a turbo diesel. Should my 2020 UX go the same way? I don’t think it does….when I asked the technician about this, he told me the newer cars had a different engine management system set up. Can I get mine to go like that I wonder🤔 Any thoughts?
