  1. You do have a point Colin but 200 miles! Not sure I understand the 4 year interval, the cars serviced yearly.
  2. This was the 6 year service. I can't believe they didn't follow the 40,000 mile instructions when the car was showing 39,800 🙄. The dealership manager told me the mechanics only do what's on the schedule, he was implying they don't even have to clean the filters! Google and trust pilot reviews are the only recourse. Good news is the engine bay looks mint, had to treat and spray a couple of corroded bits. Not sure what these are but bolted on the front face of the two cylinder heads is an electronic unit, galvanised looking with a multi-plug on each, left one very corroded so rubbed down n sprayed back to silver.
  3. Seriously, I just laid these on the bench. 700 quid service 😡
  4. Ok, update and I'm not Impressed with Lexus servicing. So this car went in with 39,000 on the clock. (6 years) A Lexus service spreadsheet I found shows that the filters should be changed at 40,000 miles ! I spoke to the general manager at the Leeds garage, he stated that filters aren't on the list! I put it to him that for £700 the mechanic should at least bang out all the debris (including the same sand I found under the bonnet). No wonder owners get ripped off by main dealers, what mechanic doing a major service, even interim wouldn't even look at the air filters? The filter for £87 was the air con filter. If it wasn't for the Lexus warranty I would never use a main dealer. Back to knocking all the sand out............
  5. You've saved me from eating humble pie I think 🤣...
  6. Afternoon all, just wondering....Anyone got a pic, under the bonnet with the plastic covers off? I'm on a clean up mission haha.
  7. Just to clarify they are shown on the invoice £87. See the clean border and the rest of the filter greyish! I though all new filters were uniform material throughout. Nope no dust storms, just a trip from sales up the motorway home then a 40 mile round trip to a car show 😇.
  8. Hi all. So I found a fair amount of sand under the bonnet on my newly acquired LC500. Took all the plastic covers off and thought I'd check the air filters. This car's just had an £800 major service done and ive driven it 200 miles since. Not actually seen a brand new filter before but look at the state of these!! (pics attached), the debris goes right to the depth of the filters and they're clearly grey now. Can folk please confirm the elements shouldn't be ' two tone' before I call the garage!! Thanks all. Tom.
  9. Not too concerned re flood damage. I once parked an XC40 for the day facing the beach at Morecambe during high winds. My god that sand was everywhere, even down through the door window seals.....
  10. Guess how long it took me to get the bonnet up 😅. No popping or clicking, nothing....Who'd have thought it releases in perfect silence 😂
  11. Hmmm I think ive solved the mystery as to why the underside is excessively corroded. Looks like my car was a seaside car, the turrets collected the sand!! I'll have to take a look under all the covers in the engine bay. Still looking for a car lift..
  12. Ahh, need clear because some of the aluminium parts have gone furry, wouldn't look right at all black...
  13. Ive been looking up undersells. Would like to use Lanoguard because its clear, but, needs doing yearly (is this in fact the case?). Dinitrol clear 1000 looks good, but says its for box sections, wondering if it will be ok on all areas?
  14. I had a look under an early convertible at the Rhos on sea car meet Sunday. Was very clean.
  15. Andy...🤫 letting the 'dust/ash' settle 😉...
  16. BIG thank you to all that made suggestions. Bought a lump of blue clay bar, not sure but guessing it was medium strength. Anyway, gave it a go and the car looks great again 🎊🍻
  17. Ive had a good look through the Lexus warranty and it keeps quoting holes in panels so I'd say they're not interested...until it's real bad.
  18. Wow thanks all. Seems I have a replacement key which has the panic button, that button doesn't work. The key I have is in a right mess, god only knows what happened to the two original keys!!
  19. Morning all. Please would someone help me out... My UK car came with ONE battered key. A key man is having trouble determining which key to order. I have a 4 button key (panic button), he says a part number suggests it should be a three button older type key. Can. anyone put up a pic of their UK 2018 key? Also we are trying to find one side of my battered key, £150 from Lexus (the buttons side). Cheers. Tom.
  20. Sorted 👌. Seems my 2018 only works on Lexus Link and not link plus though, so I have two apps.
  21. Just had a thought. Our new UX250 came with the Lexus Link and an app installed on my android. Can I somehow have the same set-up for my LC500? Will they conflict? One for the younguns 😅....
  22. Yep that's better Andy. I did email Lexus with the pics and questions re' warranty but it must have gone to one of those addresses that they never look at!!! I'l try direct approach with Lexus Preston, they're good..
