  1. You are correct, that is what it does. Hopefully someone with knowledge of what you want will post shortly
  2. Although it shouldn't be necessary, I think a battery monitor is essential....solar panels will give some charge over the summer, less so at this time of year and for the next four or five months
  3. Drew , Welcome to the forum I don't have any experience of a full carlinkit type unit, but I have an ottocast dongle which I can recommend as being easy to set up and that works seamlessly. https://www.ottocast.com/
  4. https://www.ancel.com/products/ancel-bm200 Bluetooth connection to an app on your phone. Works from about 10 feet away....
  5. https://www.fuelly.com/car/lexus/is200 You seem to be above average
  6. Iian From my experience with my own car I can say that the advice you received would not apply in my case. I have a battery monitor fitted and it takes about half an hour with the car in park and in ready mode to charge from 50% to 100% The monitor (other makes are available) takes all the guesswork of charging/ checking, and are not expensive https://www.ancel.com/products/ancel-bm200
  7. Try here: https://www.manualslib.com/manual/2442370/Lexus-Gs450h.html I can't see if it is the 2006 model, however it gives the code OM_OM30F92E_(EE)
  8. If you decide to go for it, buy a reliable brand and the highest wattage. You don't want it to malfunction when you are away...... Something like: https://shop.ringautomotive.com/rsp2000-20w-solar-battery-maintainer.html and: https://shop.ringautomotive.com/rspobdn.html
  9. See this thread from 2020. My reading of it is that the panels don't provide enough power to the battery to prevent it discharging..... https://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/topic/123694-solar-panel-trickle-charger-for-obd/#comments
  10. If you battery was flat and you drove for 45 minutes, I would suggest it would only have been 50% charged at best....if it has not been fatally damaged. I have one of these https://www.ancel.com/products/ancel-bm200 and have mentioned it in several posts.....removes all the guesswork from knowing when or if your battery is fully charged
  11. The paper manual you get with the car is really only a quick start guide (sorry) There is a much more in depth manual here (600+pages) https://www.lexus.co.uk/owners/about-my-lexus/manuals?
  12. It's not just a Lexus problem....lots of other makes as well.....car theft is always going to be there....tens of thousands of pounds in a mobile form....
  13. I guess that's why we have insurance.....let them sort out the fixing and paying.....they charge enough..!
  14. I have these: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B09BMJL1DR/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Don't put house keys etc. In them, as they will ultimately tear the lining allowing the signal to leak Was there damage to the car at the passenger side front bumper.?
  15. I have one if these fitted..... https://www.ancel.com/products/ancel-bm200 Information is sent to an app on your phone via Bluetooth if it is within 10 feet or so...I find it useful and reassuring to know the battery's state of charge, as I don't use the car every day. Only uses about 1.5 milliamps so very little additional drain
  16. Was there a jack that came with the car...? Or just buy a lower one......a lot cheaper than putting a hole in the bodywork or bending the chassis.....
  17. A number for sale on autotrader: https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-search?advertising-location=at_cars&aggregatedTrim=600h V8&make=Lexus&model=LS&moreOptions=visible&page=1&postcode=BH14 0NZ&price-from=3500&price-to=45000&sort=relevance The third one on the list (black, currently in Croydon) is my choice....beautiful walnut and cream interior...
  18. Sam Welcome to the forum I can't help with your query, however I'm sure some helpful forum member will be along shortly...in the meantime, have you looked on aliexpress..? Are you going to do the work yourself.?
  19. Lexus are (is?) (reasonably) a low number manufacturer, and only when you order your car does the building process start. Obviously the waiting time is then several months, although there may be a dealer somewhere in the UK who has the model in the colour and with the specs you want and your local franchise can order it in. A car bought this way will be a 2024 model, whereas the 2025 models will available to order quite soon (with a price rise) On the other hand, if you are spending 40 to 50k (or more) then saving a few thousand over five years shouldn't be a priority compared to getting the correct specifications.
