  1. There was a recent thread which suggested that oil levels should be checked when the engine was up to operating temperature......
  2. I let mine charge in the garage in ready mode (garage door open) car doors closed, key on seat. I don't believe the car will lock the doors in this situation
  3. I can recommend this: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07JLX9J15/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Just check that any charger you buy is compatible with your battery. I think lexus mostly use an agm type Not sure than a solar charger would provide enough charge in the short (and occasionally.! dull) days in your part of the country
  4. I'm glad you said that......using the data from my monitor, I have concluded that my 12v charges twice as fast in ready mode/park as it would if I was driving....thought it was just a quirk of my car or perhaps my advancing age.....😱
  5. It shows that when a 12v fails to start a car, the SoC must be extremely low, and why when owners subsequently say they then 'drove for an hour to recharge the battery' it doesn't come close to doing so
  6. I have indeed.....in fact, they get inadvertently tested all the time when try to get into the car, only for it to remain locked and me to realise the key is still inside the pouch.....🙄 Part of the reason they start to leak signal is that people put their housekey inside as well, and the sharp key edge tears the lining....something I am careful not to do...
  7. I may be wrong however I think the key fob only 'goes to sleep' if it is stationary....which would mean it is still active as you walk round Sainsbury's, in the park, or a restaurant (until you are escorted to your table) I use these: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B09BMJL1DR/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Not expensive and also give the key some protection should I drop it
  8. Does the glovebox need to be removed or dropped down in order to see/access it...?
  9. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005007309629912.html?
  10. check on that Web page, however I think it just monitors the charge level of the battery. (And records basic journeys and the position of of your car when parked) For more extensive battery testing you need something like this https://www.amazon.co.uk/GYS-TBP-100-Battery-batteries/dp/B001U1XNTS/ref=rvi_d_sccl_30/257-5536628-6127312? as mentioned by another member on here recently....above my pay grade, but perhaps someone else will post a solution
  11. Sounds like a problem with that drive, either the drive itself or the way it is formatting. Like Colin I have used a bigger drive (128Gb) with no issues, although I'm currently using android auto for music and navigation from my phone. If you down that route, try magicearth for navigation, I prefer it to Waze or Google maps https://www.magicearth.com/
  12. I think so......the small internal battery would not be able to record for more than a minute or two. The dashcam manual states it starts recording in parking mode when it detects 'physical movement ' of the vehicle. Mine is triggered when I sit on the seat.....perhaps I need to lose a few pounds....
  13. My understanding of the Lexus fitted dashcam is that it receives no power from the car as soon as the car is switched off......(similar to a dashcam plugged into a power (formerly cigarette) socket,) so it should not draw any current from the 12v battery when parked. Power from parking mode comes from an internal battery inside the dashcam which charges when the car is in ready mode. In my opinion, parking mode is one of the most useful features on a dashcam Perhaps someone will be able to confirm/ refute this. I have not seen and difference in the time it takes my 12v to deplete since having it fitted (I have fitted a battery monitor https://www.ancel.com/products/ancel-bm200)
  14. If the dashcam is hardwired then it is continually drawing current from the 12v battery, even when parked. There are many threads on the forum about cars failing to start as the battery is flat. I appreciate the obd connector has a manual on/off switch.....however all it would take is to forget to switch it off once and the result could be the car failing to start the next day.....switching it off while the car is parked also seems to negate having it hardwired at all
  15. Malcolm Consider getting and fitting a battery monitor.....otherwise giving it 'a proper charge' is just guesswork I have this: https://www.ancel.com/products/ancel-bm200 Other makes are available...
