A question for other LC500 owners re wind noise
Paul29bit replied to Paul29bit's topic in Lexus LC500 / LC500h Club
Yes and I already thought of that but unfortunately it made no difference. -
LC500 on the Nurburgring with Misha Charoudin

Loved that. He was running larger than stock tyres on the 21" rims which is very interesting and he also mentioned that it was at 500HP, so it must have been mapped. -

I have not been able to locate it at all. It is very slight and honestly I don't notice it as much any more but it is still there. -
When I bought my car from Lexus Hedge End they also fitted the tracker with Geo fencing for me so like others here I can track it and also Geo Fence when I park somewhere or even at home.

Congratulations on your purchase and that is quite the colour.

Congratulations, and I am certain you will love the LC. I am a relative newcomer and have had mine just around a month, but every time it growls into life I smile from ear to ear.

A question for other LC500 owners re wind noise
Paul29bit replied to Paul29bit's topic in Lexus LC500 / LC500h Club
I don't think so but I might try putting the wing up before I set off the next time and then it will be up at the lower speeds. Good idea. -

One very happy owner of an LC500 Sport+ here but I have a question. Has anyone else experienced any wind noise, especially a high pitched whistle from the drivers side and (I think) just behind my head around the window? This starts with any speed above around 35mph. I have checked, cleaned and carefully lubricated the door seals, which do not look damaged or mis formed in any way. The window seals perfectly well and does not allow any water in and I can't see anything unusual about the trim along the top of the door or even the door itself. Slightly opening the window while driving does not stop the whistle and further opening the window just drowns out the sound out. Has anyone else experienced this and is there a know issue or a fix?

Potential LC500 Owner after a little advice
Paul29bit replied to Dingle Dell's topic in Lexus LC500 / LC500h Club
If want to use the BBR MX5 for normal driving sometimes without the need to drink fuel all the time then I suggest the Turbo is the way to go. The supercharged BBR is a glorious thing but it is always thirsty even when you are just driving normally. Also the turbo conversion packs a real punch when you want to act stupid. -
Potential LC500 Owner after a little advice

If what you want is the drama and theatre of performance without the silly high speeds, and you enjoy driving and especially a bit of rallying, then I can recommend something like a BBR MX5. I can guarantee it will make you smile within 10 seconds of passing 4000rpm followed shortly by the concentration removing the grin. They are a lot of fun. I recently managed to melt the BBR hub caps and they fell out of the wheels after she cooled down. Turbo vents a little too close to the front drivers side wheel and the additional focused braking did the rest. I should add I don't intend to drive the LC like that and really for me it will become my daily driver for to and from the office and going to clients. -
A small but hopefully useful update. I had the suitable weather on Saturday to properly clean and inspect my car. I had noticed quite a lot of hologram's on the paintwork, especially the bonnet. Not unusual on any car these days and to be honest most so called detailers are quite bad at not only removing them but in some cases causing them. I wanted to correct the paint to perfection and then proper seal it with a ceramic for the autumn and winter months. So early on Saturday morning I started to prep the car for some correction. It took me from 8:30am to around 8pm with only a 15 minute pause for lunch and two coffee breaks to help keep the energy levels up. In the end I am very pleased with the quality of the paint on the LC, it is actually quite soft when compared to Mercedes paint but it was also great for getting a lot of gloss out of. The end results were better than I even thought for the 1st proper correction, I honestly thought it would take another go in the spring to correct the swirls and holograms, but honestly it is near perfection already. I have added pictures to show the depth of gloss achieved and I am happy to explain the full procedure if anyone is interested.

Yes they are and thank you again, I had waited so long and passed on several private sales.

These photos were taken during the trip home from the Lexus dealership in Hedge End to Northern Ireland. The car is not clean and indeed needs some proper detailing, once I get some time. Better pictures will follow in the coming weeks.

Flew over to Southport early Saturday morning to be picked up at the airport by Lexus of Hedge End. They were very through in both preparing my car and also detailing, cleaning and making sure it was perfect. Got the ECU and NAV updated as well as new rears and a service. They also fitted a Cat5 tracker for me with three years service. The car is as close to perfect as I could have hoped for. The 1st 200miles I took it easy and just let the big girl cruise up towards Wales but once we were over the bridge we took what I will call a 'spirited' drive to Port Talbot sea front for a leg stretch and an icecream. The car never missed a beat and never disappointed. You guys already know all of this of course. What else can I say but wow. I have been privileged enough to own and drive quite a few performance cars over the years and what I wanted from the LC was not another Porsche but something that I could use and enjoy on any given work day in quiet elegance but then also use in anger when the notion grabbed me. That is exactly what the LC is, a true Jackal and Hyde car in the best way possible. For 350 miles across England and Wales it averaged 35.2MPG, driving on mostly motorway at around 70-80mph. Impressive indeed, once in Sport+ mode that number tumbled but every £1 spent on fuel delivered £2 in fun. The ferry from Fishguard to Rosslair took us overnight and at 6am on Sunday morning I started the 4hour run to home in Armagh Northern Ireland. I have about 500miles on the car so far and it is something very special. Many cars offer performance and even tight handling, but very few offer a sense of occasion like the LC. I don't have any decent photos yet and as well I want to properly clean and detail the car myself, but when I do I will try and get some good photos, not that you other owners need them, because you are all experiencing exactly the same thing that I am.

Just for some clarity (although it most likely does not matter for each individual) my previous insurer and still the insurer of my other family cars is Hastings Direct, the insurer I found for the LC to be best cover/value (not actually the least expensive) was Admiral. Both prices were similar and within £30 of each other but for some reason Hastings basically withdrew their offer.
