  1. Mine is the third NX in the cul de sac! While £405 does sound cheap compared to some, last year my price was £225 (Honda CRV). The renewal advised that had I had the Lexus for the full year it would have been £235, so £405 actually represents a sizeable % increase.
  2. I’ve just insured my NX with LV for £405 for the year. It’s a 2021 so facelifted gen 1, ie Canbus vulnerable. Insurance issues must be dependant on postcode.
  3. Good luck with the upcoming op Neil, looks like you’ve had some great advice above about that one. On the Ghost2 front, mine was fitted last week as planned. All went well, used a chap Ghost themselves suggested who was local to me and he did a great job. Decided I wanted a one man band local installer rather than a national one, as I wanted to know the actual installer and have local back up if ever needed. Very tidy, was careful not to damage any trim etc. Got my TASSA certificate through yesterday.
  4. Don’t worry too much, just enjoy your new motor. Over time you’ll find how best to drive it for maximum efficiency. I would recommend setting your screen to show the power flows. You can find this pressing the info button on the touch pad (in our NX but I suspect it will be same method in all models). This is the best way to see how your throttle input affects the power flows. You will learn how much throttle you can apply for various states of charge, to prevent the engine kicking in. Small adjustment with your right foot will adjust the power flows. For example if you are driving on the flat and the power flow shows the engine is running, a little inch movement of the foot off and back on the power will knock it into EV mode sometimes. I have found that the Lexus / Toyota hybrids really respond to driving style re mpg. Years ago I had a Prius and was getting 54-55 mpg for a long time, but once I got the right style I ended up getting 62-63 mpg. The driving technique also transfers well to full EV driving, we have had various EV’s for 6 years and the preceding years of Toyota hybrid driving resulted in excellent miles per kWh efficiency with the EV.
  5. The dealer advised me to drive in normal rather than eco mode. He said they found over the years that eco mode actually reduced fuel efficiency as it made the car underpowered and therefore more time was spend on the accelerator getting up to speed. I’ve had mine a few weeks, so have yet to experiment. I have left it in eco so far. Feels ok to me, I don’t have a heavy foot style though. I have a baseline efficiency now, so will switch to normal next and see how it compares. I will probably only use Sport mode when towing.
  6. That’s great news. Did they give you a time frame for this so you can go ahead with your install? My installer came back and confirmed the NX was fine, he’s checked the software download, and consulted with Autowatch. So, fingers crossed all will be well.
  7. Do you happen to know if this is an ES specific issue or may affect NX gen 1 too? Thanks
  8. That’s disappointing, I’m going to go back to my installer and ask them to check to see if the same applies to the NX…..
  9. Thank you for this info. Does that mean that when they try and shift into reverse or drive the engine just shuts down or they just can’t engage drive? We have the gen 1 NX so it may have been implemented differently for that car. Presumably the installer will be happy to explain this on install.
  10. Do we think Ghost 2 will fully lock down the Canbus system, thus preventing access into the car at all, or that it just works on the part that allows the car to start or be driven?
  11. Well I’m booked in for next week too now. Ghost HQ gave me two local fitters and having checked them out made a decision to go ahead. I did discuss Ghost with the Lexus parts manager and he had no issue with Ghost and did not advise against it. The only issue he mentioned was an issue they had once when they had to do extended tests in a car for a customer that refused to give the code and set it to valet mode. They went over 30mph for a period of time and it triggered the Ghost. That issue could have been resolved if the owner had simply changed the main code while they had the car, rather than use valet mode. Then set the code back to their normal one afterwards. He did say they fitted 3rd party immobilisers and trackers themselves for customers, in fact the car behind us in the workshop was having just that done. But the one they offered had a subscription and I didnt want to do go down that route. I did raise the point about battery drain with the installer, and was told it is a passive device if fitted correctly, and is dormant until someone tries to start the car. He had recently done an RX350h and when we discussed Canbus attack he brought up the RAV4 (which of course we know shares the same Canbus set up).
  12. I’ve just rung again and got through, they were helpful and quickly sent across a couple of installer names.
  13. Same, I have emailed them twice with no reply, and tried to ring them but no-one answers.
  14. Thank you - could I ask who you are using please?
  15. Is this TSK software / hardware or both I wonder. Just wondering if it’s within the realms of possibility to retro fit. The fact they went with a plate suggests maybe not, unless that was purely the quickest and cheapest fix…
  16. Just to echo other comments that the range you are seeing at this time of year is normal. The heating system is not efficient, there is no heat pump, so it saps loads of energy out the battery. The car is not that efficient to start with. Driving style and use of heating does still make a big difference. My wife mainly drives ours and on the last fill range was sub 100 miles, low 2’s miles per kWh. She just drives it, leaves the heating on etc. All of that is fine, and arguably how a car should be used, but I drive for efficiency and turn the heating on only when needed, then back off etc. When I was using it more around Christmas I was averaging low to mid 3’s over a charge. When it’s cold the Lexus is using not far off twice the electricity to travel the same distance as our previous Kia Soul EV did!
  17. Update from dealer, the 2021 NX300h only has limited functionality with the Link+ app. Namely, service history and car location. Trip data and fuel stats not possible. Sounds like I was following the right process, just the car does not support everything.
  18. So, just spoken to our nearest installer TTW installations Nottingham, and they said they would not fit a Ghost 2 to a 300h, citing unresolved compatibility issues. When pressed about what the issue was, they said 12v battery drain, and that until resolved they would not be prepared to fit one. Anyone else had a similar response, or found their Ghost 2 causes battery drain or any other hybrid issues? Thanks
  19. Thanks David, I’ve done about 100 miles since, but probably no more than 30 miles in one go. I’ll see if the owners book covers connecting to the app, and the requirements.
  20. Thanks Ronnie. Thought it was strange as followed exactly the same process as with the UX (also 2021) and that worked fine.
  21. Hi all Ive added our used NX300h to my garage in the Link+ app (already working as expected with our UX300e). It’s paired to the car successfully, I can see the service history, and the Wi-Fi is on in the car, but I just can’t get any driving stats to appear in the app. It just always says “no data. Data will appear after your first trip”. Any ideas? I’d like to get this up and running to be able to see where the car is, not to mention the driving stats. Thanks Jim
  22. Yes, the tyres are coming up to 3 years old but do have some life left yet. My query is for when they need replacing, not just for the sake of it. Although I’m not intending to do this yet, you never know when an unrepairable puncture will necessitate a pair of new tyres. With AWD by the book they may even suggest all 4 are replaced if the wear is significantly different (not read the book yet as only picked the car up an hour ago). Just wanting to get a feel for the right tyres when the time comes 👍
  23. Thanks for the tip, I did see Asda Tyres come up as a search result, but hadn’t gone to them yet. I normally use Costco, but they did not have Cross Climates for the NX, weird as they had them for our Leaf and Kia Soul EV. I normally wait for a Costco offer and then jump on it. Might call them and check if it’s just a stock issue and if so wait. Will try Asda for pricing too. If I can get Lexus to price match like for like would go with them and ask them to fit mud flaps while the wheels are off
