  1. Main dealers, when I bought the car in December. The thing is, that soon after I bought the car I was looking through all the service print outs and noticed that the service they did just before I bought the car said there was very uneven wear between the two rear sets of pads. 2mm/7mm iirc. They only replaced the discs and pads. The service sheet stated possible caliper fault, but they didn't replace it. I contacted their service department and they said that 'calipers were within tolerance.' I'm just being very aware, that the further it gets from me having purchased the car, the harder it'll be to get them to replace it if it is faulty.
  2. Brand new discs and pads put on in October. One is doing a full, even sweep of the disc, but the other seems to be applying more pressure and only to the main central part of the disc. The shiny disc was slightly warm after driving for a few miles, while the other was cold. Everyone think the caliper is f#[]#[[?
  3. The windscreen is supposed to be heated isn't it? It's the Premier model, so has almost everything.
  4. It's loud even on the lowest setting, like you'd expect if it was on the highest. The cabin takes longer to warm up than I expected.
  5. Bought a Series IV RX 450h. The fan seem very loud, even at minimum setting. The car takes longer to demist and longer to warm up than I expected. Two questions: Does this model tend to make a lot of noise when the blowers are turned on? Could the condenser be knackered causing the other symptoms?
  6. I know the steering is speed and angle sensitive, but it just seems too heavy, for example, at 15mph on roundabouts, the difference is big, even running 39 psi. It doesn't lighten up until the steering is totally straight. They said that they would have automatically checked the alignment and wouldn't be itemised on the bill, so fair enough.
  7. I's a Gen IV. The dealership replaced trailing arms before I bought it to get it through the MOT, but there is no evidence of them doing an alignment. The tyres are more worn on the edges. I've got a copy of their internal invoice and it doesn't state that it's been done. Perhaps it was OK but I'm going to speak to the sevice manager today as their own workshop recommended a caliper replacement two years ago with the previous owner but they didn't get it done, just replaced the discs and pads. It had pads again the last service due to uneven wear with a comment suggesting a caliper fault yet it wasn't replaced. This dealership was great a few years ago when I used them last, but the new owners have spoilt the Lexus experience for me.
  8. I'm at the dealers on Thursday so I'll ask to drive another Mark I to compare.
  9. I've inflated them up to 39 psi, and obviously it's better, but still seems heavy. Take into account that this is a new car to me. What psi do most people run?
  10. Does the RX450h steering feel quite heavy?
  11. I've got a 2016 Premier Plus with 20" wheels. Can anyone point me towards a space saving wheel for this? TIA
  12. Perhaps it's something that might be worthwhile for the club to contact AF to see if they'll offer a discount to members. Like I said, the Celica Club got one.
  13. Thanks all. Got it sorted, but I told the dealership that I wasn't happy. Emailed Lexus customer care yesterday and had a reply at 8am this morning saying that they had contacted the dealership to sort out ordering and fitting the plates. 'Lexus UK will be supporting this financially.' The dealer called me to say that they can fit them for free but the plates will cost £175+vat and they didn't know of any other dealers doing it for free. I told them I wasn't happy about this, and my tone told them that they were risking the sale. They said that they'd look into it and call me back. It took all of 5 minutes before they called back saying that they'd contacted Lexus Uk and that they'd order the parts and fit them this week before I collect the car. If they hadn't got back to me this morning I would have gone back to Lexus UK and complained. Now this Dealer is FRF Lexus Cardiff. I think it might have changed hands from when I used them about 20 years ago because back then they would have given you their first born if you'd asked for it. FRF own dealerships all over South Wales selling Lexus, Toyota and Volvo, and more. I've been unhappy with the service the service from their Volvo dealership in Swansea over the past three years, but was very surprised when I ran into bother with their Lexus brand. It seems like they have a group think policy. All sorted now thanks to you all. I'll be a regular here from now on. By the way, do any insurers do a discount for club members? I used to get 10% discount from AdrianFlux when I was a member of Celica owners club.
  14. I'm currently purchasing a 2016 RX from a Lexus dealer. I called them today to enquire about the plate, and they told me that they can fit one, but there would be a charge of £175 +vat. They should be fitting them free of charge. I'm gobsmacked! Has anyone had this done for free?
