Anti-glare a must, espcially as you get older.

I prefer polaroid coating over polychromic as they cut down glare rather than cut down all light and they (IMHO) are better for when you are one minute driving in sun  and then cloudy conditions, as polaroid will only filter out a max of 50% light, and next to 0% if the light is all in one plane.

So I carry clear set with anti-glare and polaroid set with no anti-glare with me

I also agree anti glare is a must. When you driving at night and the very powerful headlights hit your eyes, the impact is lessened with having the coating

My tip would be don't travel unless necessary, many jobs allow working from home in the post pandemic era.

If you do venture out make sure the car is fully defrosted and all windows clear, also be wary of using your screenwash which can instantly freeze in cold conditions.

I have a recollection of driving on black ice on a dual carriageway, car in front spun hit the kerb and then rolled over three times (fortunately no one was injured).  I stopped and got out of the car, immediately falling on my arse it was so slippy.

    Thank you.

Just talking about screenwash, I think it is a matter of higher concentration in winter? Also does anyone know if Lexus have heated washer jets like the VW group?

    You're kidding, right?

    https://www.unrwa.org/palestine-refugees

    Where do Palestine refugees live?

Nearly one-third of the registered Palestine refugees, more than 1.5 million individuals, live in 58 recognized Palestine refugee camps in Jordan, Lebanon, the Syrian Arab Republic, the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, including East Jerusalem.

Approx how many live in Jotdan and Lebanon please? Where are all the other Muslim countries please,? E.g. Egypt. UAE etc etc

I doubt it’s just UK originating stolen cars feeding the Africa and Eastern Europe crooked car dealers and breakers ……..

How they get into containers and then freely onboard ships baffles me ……. does no one check, Maersk themselves whatever ?

Clearly the UK insurance industry doesn’t care a hoot …… possibly not economically viable for them to set up any sort of checking system !

Simply up the insce premiums to cover themselves OR not even insure some marques …… like Range Rovers now I understand

Best to simply own a car not worth thieving maybe 🤔

    Malc

One issue with this country we just claim off our insurance and no chase or bother by police or anyone  else.

Yes more should be done in the docks.

There will be an issue in other European countries too, but I think we ee always slow to react in the UK.

Insurance companies do not care. They are in thus business and work off cars getting stolen and not recovered.

The owner will always lose, come renewal or have to oay an excess

  5. Hello,

I just wanted to talk about cars stolen from the UK and abroad.

They are rarely going to Middle East countries as many have very strict laws, in Dubai you will see lambos and ferraris abandoned, if the owner defaults payment on the ca, it could be a jail sentence.

Africa (quite many countries) there is a huge demand for SUV and luxury cars. There is so much corruption nobody cares if it has been stolen and where from.

Car stripped for parts, Romania , Poland and some other East European Countries.

Car crime uis rife in most countries..

I was in Pakistan and there is a place called Ghair Alaka. Which is about 15 mile stretch before you hit Afghanistan.

In that area it is full of stolen cars, brand new shoguns etc and you are free to drive there and in Afghanisran, just not in Pakistan where are stolen from. Is anything g done to recover these, nope.

I use neat screenwash (extreme winter stuff) on a rag and coat all of the door seal surfaces - stops them freezing together.

Also I carry a tube of rubber cement (innertube glue) - if you happen to split a rubber wiper blade this is excellent for emergency repair, if your out and about without a spare blade to hand.

Thanks guys, learning good stuff here, keep them.coming

In truth, I I kind of make it a thing to try and make some kind of positive contribution to people ,because I really don't see the point of all that negativity and bitching and complaining. It wears me out whilst being 'up' makes everything a bit more enjoyable.

Nice one and the way it should be!

T'is the truth, but if I have learned one thing in the biblical three score and ten it is that life is just too short to live it thinking about things over which you have so little control. Hence, we can germinate over international politics , or we can go squirm about under a really cool car in out thermals. No poll required. Choose you epitaph , "he died with a frown", or "he was smiling right up until the jack gave way".😀

Yes spot on. Or how about..

Whatever you drive, wear, own or even the Country you think is yours forget it!!. Its all borrowed and you are on borrowed time. Put all the differences aside and make the most of life. And smile!

  9. Hello,

    Interesting views and comments.

The first thing we should think of is humanity. All innocent lives are the same and does not matter if you follow a religion or not

The second thing is, most of what you think is not what it seems, hidden agendas.

If you are having big issues in politics only two things come to mind..

    1. Go to war  everyone forgets politics

    2. New election, very risky.

In any war there are Countries that gain.e.g.Uk/US make profits on selling weapons.

So going back to hidden agendas, Israel is not targeting Hamas as much as it is showing strength in the Middle East and saying look we have backing from US etc.

Hamas do not represent the Palestinians just like IRA do not represent Ireland, however desolate people have no choice as PLO were ousted out of Palestine, there are no fair politics or rights for the people.

Also why have none of the Muslim countries taken Palestians as refugees?

Iran may back the Houthis and the Hezbollah, and this is not to do with Palestine as it is a Sunni Muslim population and Iran is a Shi ite Muslim population, so hardly get on with each other, but more on Western intervention.

Regarding China.yes they are not happy about Taiwan and also regarding g shipping know that it will hurt Western countries. That is a gamble they want to take.

It is chaotic and sad to see what is going on, their are Countries and people that will gain and sadly innocent people will die. It is nothing new.

I always say. What is man's greatest invention? The GUN to shoot his own brother!!

  10. Interesting but very unfortunate issue.

JLR prices have gone well below dealer purchase prices so where dealer bought it for £19k and sold for £24/£25k, now being sold for £14k.

This will apply to Lexus soon and other affected used cars.

The thefts will not stop soon. 3 minutes or less to steal a car worth £40k plus, must be a good deal for a thief with minimal equipment!

Lexis only want new sales and they know there is no canbus issue.

So the issue is what price will they pay for part ex.so If it a normal partex price?

But I have feeling the part ex price will be considerably lower, which means they HAVE accepted an issue with the thefts and security!

Lexus reputation is on the line, so I have a feeling they want to do the plates but keep it quiet and do it slowly so as not to distract sales

  11. Hello,

If you live in London, you will get fined!

Also locking all the doors from the inside, can't really be done as you will find one door will always be open.

Most of us clear the winscreen and then drive off, old fashioned way, but I guess it works.

You could try locking all the doors with the driver side window open and then trying the remote fin to close the driver side window??

I've just had the front lower control arms replace on my 2006 LS460 at 100K miles ( I believe these are the same arms on the LS600).  It took quite a bit of research to find the correct part numbers, but this is what I found.

    Mine are these

    https://lexuspartsdirect.co.uk/product/lexus-ls-phase-4-o-s-f-lower-rearward-suspension-arm/

    https://lexuspartsdirect.co.uk/product/lexus-ls-phase-4-n-s-f-lower-rearward-suspension-arm/

    After 2010 they are these;

    https://lexuspartsdirect.co.uk/product/lexus-ls-phase-4-n-s-front-lower-arm-no-1/

    https://lexuspartsdirect.co.uk/product/lexus-ls-phase-4-o-s-front-lower-arm-no-1/

So yes, the design was revised. I couldn't tell you if they're an improvement though!

OK great thank you. Besides these revised designs would be interested if anything else got changed

  13. Hello,

Does anyone know if the facelifted (2010 to 2012) Ls600hl models have had revised control arms,  suspension bushes. suspension design - changed from the pre-2010 models.

I remember reading somewhere the design has been changed but not sure.

Also has anyone had any issues with their suspension (facelift version)

    Thank you.

I agree, it is definitely not normal and the view is they are not sure what to do.  Question is, where can you take the car to get the problem identified and resolved, although I will take this up with Lexus HQ next.  Thanks

If you know if any good indys that you can try, it should take 5 mins for a good mechanic, they will know whether this is normal or not.

I would start off with seeing the Manager of the servicing department and explain it is a faulty part.

No joy. Go to the Manager of the dealership next.

If you are not getting anywhere write to Lexus head office as a formal complaint. Get the reference number and take that back to the dealership, why? As a lot of people complain and then give up. If you show them the complaint number they know they have to look into as it affects their targets etc.

Please remember we are good hearted people and are only asking for fairness. So if it a faulty part,  then it should be replaced

  15. We moved over from BT to Virgin  media and rook the broadband optoon about 1 year ago, we  th the landlines.

Quite a few of our elderly relatives have mobile phones so no concern there. Just problematic regarding the NHS. They take forever making the changes you have asked for.

The good news, no constant harassing nuisance  calls!

It'd a big change and everyone has their own way. Good luck.

I completely agree with Larryadler. My Mercedes AMG E43 was stolen last February. I had a Scorpion S5 fitted as per insurance requirement. The tracker was active for two days after the car was stolen. The Police DID NOT ATTEND! The tracker company will only inform the police of the car location.

    That's shocking!

I would have put a complaint in, after all wichever you look at you are out of pocket!

I might get myself in trouble for saying this, but we are too soft in this country and should be more like the French!

Good stuff . They might also have had the radio on as well as the interior lights . One hour of that I would think would drain most batteries.

Oh I didn't think that would be the case as you can't have radio on without starting the car?

In fairness, I have not come across much corrosion listed as advisory after they switched over to Aluminium. Some, but not much. Suspension related issues appears perhaps the most common.

I am almost too aware of my lack of mechanical nous so it's going to have to be persuasive. Indeed, I might suggest a mock mot from my local Indy Jag specialist and everything conditional on that outcome.

I think I had more confidence buying the 430. So , that door isn't closed, but there isn't much in the market to get excited about right now. That pale blue special from the SWest might have done it.

I was not aware Aluminum corroded until 2 weeks ago, my drivers wing mirror part made of aluminuim was chalky white!

I have a '63 plate LS600 hl (103k miles) which has developed a noticeable 'clicking' sound upon depressing the brake pedal.  Its more than the feint click you can expect with some hybrid Toyota/Lexus models.  Dealer had changed out the brake actuator under warranty (apparently) before, sound disappeared for a few months, and now its back. The message I get is that this is quite normal, but I am sure it isn't.  Any suggestions as this seems more than a microswitch operating.  The sounds comes from behind the front bulkhead, in the pedal box area.  Would like to know if anyone on this forum has experienced the same and/or has advice for me to present to the dealer.  Thanks.

    Hello LS600owner,

I have the 2010 ls600hl and do not hear the sounds other than the compressor, which is normal.

Personally, I disagree with the dealer and what you really need is someone local who has a similar model. The dealers know your car is rare and it is 10 or 11 years old.

Lexus engineers went through quite rigorous lengths to get this car as smooth and silent as possible, would they be happy with this. No chance!
