  1. The 4 seat had the dvd from the ceiling, mine has it in the middle next to front sets.

Either the middle seat level cushioning is too high or the ceiling has dropped?

I hbe owned many cars and yes the middle seat can be tight, but the head touching the ceiling and the light controls in the way is not good.

My other car is a Bentley Conti mental GT and the back seats are made for shorter adults or kids, but I can still sit at the back and my head does not touch the ceiling.

It would be good if someone has the 5 seater from 2010, can advise.

  3. Hello,

I have a compliant about my Lexus.

Does anyone own a Lexus Ls600hl, with the 5 seat option.

Is it me or is the rear middle seat only suitable for children?

    Was this an after thought?

Had I known this I would have gone for the 4 seat car, as there are more of these  on the road.

Hello all, pleased to say i bought the car! Picked it up yesterday and drove it 200 miles home. Exquisite drive! 34mpg average wasnt shabby either

couple of newbie questions - i notice the indicator stalk doesnt seem to have the function of a 3 x flash you have to turn stalk all way on for a continuous flash. But i noticed on doug demuros youtube video on his review of this car that in the screen menu there was an option to select 3/5/7 flashes etc. was that a US only spec thing?

Also need to source some rear headphones as the car is missing them. Can you still buy them from Lexus?

    Hello Craig,

I think there is one set of headphones on eBay UK.

Remember these are infra red and not Bluetooth so will only work with your Rear DVD, radio etc.

  5. Sorry I am not a mechanic or technical.

    1. Does the smell from the exhaust smell lean?

2.Have you scanned for any  any codes?

I like your approach of elimination?

Also we as the read spot on last year if so what changes have you done in last 12 months?

    Just guessing some exhaust temp?

Good luck mate, hope it gets resolved quickly and without any further pain for your brilliant car.

  6. Yes I agree Malc,

I do a max 3k a year in the Bentley, but drive it every 3 or 4 day.

Max mileage on the lexus will be 7k, realistically 5k.

The category cars are good value as long as you keep the car and do not intend to sell it.

Car insurances are all to do with risk management and underwriters.

Some insurance companies are now changing their policies on a regular basis and those who had been insured are finding they are not even getting a renewal quotation!!

Some of this has to do with those scammers and lying b... who falsely claim, making it very difficult for us decent law abiding citizens.

some of it is down to companies and profit.

Whichever you look at car insurance will continue to rise for a majority of us, just like everything else here in the UK.

  7. Sorry I know this is an old thread.

I did not realise that my LS600h was going to be that expensive to insure.

In fact it cowts more to insure the Lexus than my other car a Bentley Continental GT.

I think if you have a hybrid car the Battery replacement and getting hold of parts plays a big part in the costs.

A few years ago it was all about where you lived, but now it's all about the insurance companies and being loyal does not pay!

    Hello all

Haven't been in a Lexus for a long while now and I think its about time to get back into one. Looking for a full fat LS600h this time, rather than the GS300's and Aristo's I've had before.

This one seems to fit the bill for me, only down side being that its a previous Cat S repair. Biggest fear is the Hybrid battery but as it has a full Lexus service history I'm assuming there will be some cover from Lexus on it.

Anyone been to see it by any chance or know anything about it?

I just found my dream car... Search for yours https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202309031501732?advertising-location=at_cars&atmobcid=soc5&fromsra&make=Lexus&maximum-mileage=150000&model=LS 600h&sort=price-asc

    Hello Sir

Just after I replied to Newbie777 yesterday I made an appointment to go see the car.

I was told over the phone that this was a part-ex taken in against a newer LS500h the customer had bought. Also, the Cat S damage was done in March of this year to the rear quarter, about the size of a tennis ball. The insurance company wanted a new rear quarter panel and given the price for the repair against the value of the car it was written off. I wasn't told which rear panel was damaged but the repair was so good that you'd struggle to tell. The rest of the car had a few minor scuffs and chips to the front end. The drive is brilliant and has a full Lexus service history, having just had a few thousand pounds spent at Lexus recently on repairs to the climate control system. Brilliant I thought, I'm expecting a bit of minor damage given the age and mileage of the car but definitely one i could live with. I told him I'm not one to waste someone's time so if its as described and we settle on a price I'll take it away today.

When I arrived i was parked about 7-8 metres away from it and it looked quite nice parked there in the sunshine. I'm having this i thought. But just so I don't get too giddy about it I took 2 friends down for a second opinion.

The first thing they noticed was the damage repair on the driver's side rear. Its right on the wheel arch, the repair is not only swelling/blistering up but its also dull around there, stands out a mile compared to the surrounding paint work. The drivers rear door has a few dents in it, a kid on a bike I was told. The front bumper on the passenger side has been hit or driven into something at low speed. The paint is cracked there and the bumper bracket is broken on the corner so its all out of place. The entire passenger side of the car has been repainted at some point, you can tell by the orange peel effect which isn't present on the surrounding panels/areas. All 4 wheels need a refurb, and at a good guess I'd say the TPMS valves will break upon removal, so another set required there.

On the drive the very first thing I noticed was a rattle on the driver's side rear upon acceleration, like an exhaust heat shield or the exhaust back box rattling on the bodywork. Very annoying to say the least. The drivers door armrest and for some strange reason the b pillar where the seat belt is (just next go your right shoulder) were badly worn.

Along with that, and I'm guessing this is true for all LS600's and not just this one.

The guy asked me to check the power by accelerating hard on the dual carriageway. For the claimed BHP it felt quite slow, I understand its a heavy car, but I wouldn't use the word Performance anywhere near it. The revs were going up a lot faster than the pace of the car. What can only be described as a slipping clutch in a normal petrol manual car. Very weird feeling.

I did mention this elsewhere, wether the Hybrid system was worth having on this car, and the answer is No. It doesn't work above 25 mph, and cuts to petrol at the gentlest touch of the accelerator. Just like I've always thought, its more of a Gimmick.

So unfortunately, unless its about 70% off the price, its not worth the hassle for me. Thats not to say its a total scrap, just needs time and money spending on it which i don't have.

Through the wheel well I think. I know the headlamps are different between the LS460 and LD600, but if you search YouTube for “LS460 headlamp bulb replacement” you’ll find a couple of useful videos which might get you started. One with the wheel on and another with the wheel removed.

Did you manage to get it sorted Niaz?

    Hello Wasim,

Any luck with your car search?

Loving mine, everything is spot on for a 13 year old car  (bar one sidelight bulb).

Although not an issue for me the 5 seater long wheelbase, the middle seat is setup so that you sit way too high and  your head hits the roof, ok for a child, but surprised about Lexus thinking or engineering on that one!

    Highly recommended!

I also check the pressures with my preset inflator which automatically fires up if it senses more air is needed.

It also, on rare occasions, reveals another new scuff on my Alloygators so that I can feel good about the cost of a rim repair that I’ve just avoided!

Mines a 13  old car, so not too bothered about scuffs on wheels. More concerned about these damn potholes and road humps that damage the suspension, but that's another topic.

And I’ve been reading before that pre 2012 car TPMS doesn’t have to function for an MOT …… if that helps !

    Malc

    Thanks Malc,

It's more annoyance with the light is showing than the MOT.

Will need to get an obdii scanner

    Any help?

Sorry just seen this now, no, this is what's missing from my car, there looks like a bit of plastic covering the area.

I think this maybe done so you go through diagnostics or dealers

2 of my close nr next door neighbours have Bentleys and rarely use them ……. think it’s the concern about being money pits maybe 😂

Thinking your TPMS light mightn’t be an MOT issue as you’re pre 2012 !

Hope you find that LED guy to manipulate the unit …… worth his/her weight in yen

Keep us posted please …… I had thought at some stage to buy a Ls600 ……. but there we are …… got my 2nd dear old  ancient brilliant Mk1 Ls400 now…… let’s see 🌞

    Your ongoing story intrigues

    Good luck

    Malc

    Thanks,

Bentley's are fine as long as you drive them on a regular or daily  basis, 8 to 12 mpg is realistic round town in this season and if you get the two batteries, well you re big trouble as there is noway to open boot with, key, switch, remote fob, so most of us use a trickle charger every few weeks, the price to pay I guess.

I know the guy with the lighting so not worried at all.

Tpms on my Bentley is switched off via Diagnostics.

Your Lexus is a truly classic and a great car, so don't rush for a ls600h as more to go wrong.

I need the car for two years and a max of 5k miles a year,  to cover family holidays in UK, not bothered about resale of the car, just don't want to too pay too much on maintenance,so will see.
