  1. Yes. And likely you’ll be able to pay Lexus for updates / functionality beyond the 4 and 7 years.
  2. It’s actually 4 years for most functions and 7 years of map updates (LBX has the latest MM21 system): https://www.lexus.co.uk/owners/about-my-lexus/lexus-link-plus-app/faq?hideNav=true&hideFooter=true#:~:text=The first 3 years* (may vary by country) of Multimedia
  3. …if I was in your shoes, I would probably also be looking at the Toyota Corolla estate and C-HR. Possibly better value for your money…
  4. The UX has changed quite a bit in the last few year’s model years (including a change of engine, 250h vs 300h)… and so the answers will really depend what year you’re looking at. In terms of trim… generically across Lexus cars it’s roughly: No name / nameless trim (now “Urban”) Premium F Sport Design Premium Plus F Sport Takumi F Sport Takumi Its not necessarily the case that a higher case always adds features and has everything from the trims below - e.g. F Sport variants typically have some differences from Premium / Premium Plus / Takumi. If your budget stretches, I would try for a UX300h in any trim - the engine is much better than the 250h, and it doesn’t have the theft vulnerability all the 250h cars do: https://mag.lexus.co.uk/lexus-uk-statement-on-vehicle-theft/
  5. I would check around the car… see if it’s been left in the glove box or under the boot. And also ask the dealer - often they take things out and forget to return at handover…
  6. https://media.lexus.co.uk/lexus-announces-prices-for-the-new-rz-300e-all-electric-suv/ Also now on Lexus UK website and configurator: https://www.lexus.co.uk/new-cars/rz/build
  7. It’s now on the price list - but Premium Plus seems to have been dropped entirely: https://media.lexus.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/sites/3/pdf/240919-All-Lexus-Pages.pdf For some, e.g. NX, it’s simply renaming what was the nameless base grade. Calling it “Urban” rather than just e.g. “NX 350h” is a bit clearer for consumers. For others like LBX it was the entry level when that car was first introduced here, and now on RZ a new more basic trim below Premium which was the base trim previously.
  8. Indeed, but over 3000 of them have been registered this year… so you’d expect to see one occasionally. (or maybe I’m just spoiled as my neighbour has one in a lovely silver!)
  9. North Korea and Russia would like a word about your position that “true socialism has never been tried!”.
  10. Depending on the exact age of Takumi, you may find a RZ 450e works out cheaper on a PCP - e.g. https://used.lexus.co.uk/approved-used/lexus-rz-suv-450e-71-4kwh-premium-auto-direct4-5dr-jtjaabab70a000971?___SID=U Obviously depends how often you change cars, how you finance etc. but there are some very cheap RZ cars around at the moment…
  11. Note that the UXe is one of the Lexus models vulnerable to theft (Lexus was the most stolen car brand in 2023, as a percentage of vehicles on the road, because of this issue). https://mag.lexus.co.uk/lexus-uk-statement-on-vehicle-theft/ Lexus are now rolling out trackers and other solutions to these vehicles, but unlike the hybrid model with the 300h now using a new platform, I don’t believe the UX EV has been updated and so all models are vulnerable.
  12. Yes, by default it would be the right set of steering wheel controls assuming it’s got the touch sensitive set with a HUD.
  13. From the 18th September letters page... a sensible person making a very smart choice!
  14. The banks have given up their entitlement to dividends. Hence any surplus is gifted to the Motability charity. A non profit organisation can still generate a surplus (when income exceeds expenditure). individuals with certain benefits are able to give up their cash benefit in exchange for a car. I have said previously that it’s frankly quite miraculous that Motability can provide quite expensive cars, tax them, maintain them, and insure them all for this relatively small cash payment… and still generate a healthy surplus. It should be noted their recent surpluses have partly been a result of used car values increasing - they had assumed a certain level of depreciation, and instead cars are worth more when sold - at which point that extra gain shows up as part of their profit and surplus.
  15. This video may also help https://youtu.be/3eS1NXjDnSE?si=ibZKjnILrA_tAFgS
  16. You need to login to Lexus Link within the system, and ensure your key is paired with your profile. ideally your dealer would have helped set this up when you bought the car, but it’s easy enough to do if you follow the onscreen instructions or manual if you get stuck.
  17. It’s not an issue in everyday driving, although it does make quite a racket if you plant your foot fully down on the accelerator (certainly more than my previous DSG diesel car!). But the ecvt on these cars is quieter than the traditional cvt of old, and reviewers don’t seem to always understand the ecvt is different to a cvt.
  18. On the 450h+, You need to use the USB A port (not USB C) below the screen. My system picked up a map update there and started the process, but the codes you need weren’t being recognised by it, so I gave up.
  19. A new AutoExpress review of the Lexus NX dropped yesterday: https://www.autoexpress.co.uk/lexus/nx Still very positive. I did find it odd they criticise the cost of the plug-in hybrid 450h+ versions - given it's several thousand cheaper than equivalent Audi/BMW/Mercedes options... otherwise seems a fair review!
  20. No insurance company has had my exact job title for any of my roles in the last ten years. It has always been the case of trying to find something in their system that vaguely matches. Doesn’t help that every insurance company seems to have a different list.
  21. Yes. Apparently all to be forgotten and brushed under the carpet now…. https://news.sky.com/story/keir-starmer-once-called-for-the-end-of-the-monarchy-but-he-and-the-king-may-now-have-much-in-common-13173567 https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/13945259/keir-starmer-abolition-monarchy-labour-patriotism/
  22. In case you weren’t aware (and many dealers aren’t either), there is a paid-for warranty available- approx £600 per year - for cars up to 15 years / 150k. Details elsewhere in these forums if potentially of interest to you.
  23. The good thing is it should hit half a million signatures before Tuesday’s vote in parliament on the cut. It will hopefully focus Labour MPs minds….
  24. Lexus has never been specific about the exact percentage. If you deplete the EV mode, and then drive the car hard depleting the battery further without any real chance to recharge (e.g. going downhill, spare petrol engine energy) you’ll find it takes a bit more energy when you plug it in. If you just deplete the EV miles, you’ll find it takes less than 14kw from the plug.
  25. Nope, that’s right. EV mode can only use approx 70% of the battery. The remainder is kept for hybrid driving to maintain the full engine power in all circumstances.
