  1. Not true - I’m afraid in my main Lexus dealer purchase was under it. And that was with me requiring work to be completed to bring the car up to scratch. It was also a straight purchase - no trade in - and so no ability to do anything funny to make back the margin elsewhere. in my case, the car had been advertised for some time and the dealer clearly wanted rid. I had been looking at the models for a few weeks, and saw they’d reduced the sticker price (thousands), and I was in a couple of days later and negotiated more off (thousands). There will always be circumstances to make a deal - the key is being prepared to walk (as I was) and not being limited to local dealers (I’ve typically travelled hundreds of miles to pick up my cars). When I collected, the salesperson confirmed he was happy with the deal - so whatever it owed them, they clearly weren’t unhappy with the final result, and I remain very happy with what I paid. You are right that the guide prices are just that - guides. It’s always about what people are prepared to buy at, and what people are prepared to sell at.
  2. 4 beeps is the “check back seats” I think. I find that happens if a rear door has been opened during the journey, but not just before you lock the car at your final destination. Never had 3 beeps to my knowledge - sorry!
  3. A Lexus NX is actually 5mm shorter than your IS generation (4665mm). Width wise, the NX is 55mm wider (1865mm) - which is noticeable (but also the same width as a new ES). The LBX is also slightly wider than the IS (1810mm) at 1825mm wide, and much shorter at 4190mm, similarly is the UX at 4495mm. if I had to park on the street or/and lived in inner London, there’s no way I’d have the car I do now. But I don’t, so I can little it a little large 🙂
  4. They have a strange customs union with the EU, so in theory their products could count as “EU” depending on how the other regulations are written. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/European_Union–Turkey_Customs_Union
  5. The luxury car tax rules are based on the list price the day before registration and it's that list price which should be used on the form V55 by dealers - not the price you paid, or the price on the date of ordering. This has caught many people out, as list prices have increased for some cars after ordering, meaning people have ended up paying it (or cancelling vehicles).
  6. Your dealer also registered it wrong then! Lucky you 🙂 Jan 2022 price list (you use the list price from day before registration) has premium plus at £47k (launch price was £45k, so still over)… https://media.lexus.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/sites/3/pdf/220120-NX-Price-List.pdf
  7. I literally made that point. You cannot compare a 300h with a non-hybrid engine, that’s an entirely pointless comparison. The engine choice is largely dictated by environmental regulations, not wholly in control of manufacturers. There is also no sales tax included within the quoted MSRP prices on the Lexus US website, sales tax gets added on top depending on location, so I’m afraid your maths are entirely made up!
  8. It will show on the V5 if the luxury tax applies. Sounds like the dealer didn’t register it properly, probably putting sale price rather than list price on the form, so lucky you!
  9. ES trim lines aren’t directly comparable UK vs US. The base ES hybrid 300h (US has non-hybrid models that are cheaper, due to lower government emissions requirements) starts at $44590 - this is less well specified than our Premium model - and works out at £42560 after VAT. £1000 less than the new UK ES starting price - if you add packages to make it equivalent, you’d be paying more in the USA.
  10. I’d sell the car with the stock wheels. Anything else would require (in theory) a modification to be disclosed to insurers, and premium possibly going up - so putting people off. I had a set of OEM winter wheels & tyres for my previous Volvo - they sold for peanuts after several months. Thankfully I’d originally got a bargain from a dealership for them (basically the price of tyres) so didn’t feel too hard done by!
  11. The Premium Edition had been kept artificially low for more than two years , presumably to stay below the £40k luxury VED ceiling as long as possible - while nearly every other Lexus model has seen jumps of £4-5k, the ES Premium Edition only moved from £39.3k (plus cost of metallic paint) to £40k (with free paint!). The other ES trims kept increasing in line with other Lexus models - e.g. ES Takumi has gone from £52k to £57k in two years. Sadly it seems Lexus UK has decided that’s no longer possible to maintain. So a large jump, yes, but really just catching up to where it should have been if not artificially kept low.
  12. On my NX, it works with Apple CarPlay and Apple Maps - the next turn (ie turn right) and distance will display in the driver display and HUD (possibly not if you have the minimal HUD view). It does not work with Google Maps on CarPlay - just Apple Maps in my experience.
  13. I’m afraid Volvo has also dropped all saloons and estates in the UK over the last few years - just SUVs and “crossovers” in their range here now!
  14. Lexus cars, as a percentage of those on the road in the UK, were the most stolen cars in 2023. They have taken that “accolade” from Land Rover… and their insurance and theft problems are well known! lots of Lexus models are at risk of a vulnerability that allows thieves to plug in a device, open your car doors, and drive off in less than 60 seconds. A bbc watchdog report finally promoted a response from Lexus earlier this month: https://mag.lexus.co.uk/lexus-uk-statement-on-vehicle-theft/?fbclid=IwAR2u1DC_0mAo4_kSpK_1FLViLNyHJq0nAKctwfXCMxQi1CwuNiGBA10yY0w_aem_ATXzc0mSafM1xX72JZyfSo-7KpoTKXtkPQjmf6ToRhjQ_4GsDaGMH6Nf5ACoFWEW2pE given Lexus themselves have only recently shared that list, it’s unsurprising insurers have taken a blanket “no Lexus” approach to underwriting.
  15. Yes, originally NX and NX with premium pack were just under…but I’m not sure (m)any were actually delivered before the list price increased? The VED is based on the list price the day before new car registration rather than point of order. first deliveries were due January, and by April 2022, all were listed over £40k. The NX FWD also then appeared, but, quickly also moved above 40k and so unclear if any were delivered before that.
  16. Sorry but it shouldn’t be a surprise at all… as noted in the Lexus statement, and as others have shared in this thread, only the RX has a protection plate currently. A solution for other models is being communicated to dealers at the end of April (although it seems the statement now reads “coming weeks”)… https://mag.lexus.co.uk/lexus-uk-statement-on-vehicle-theft/?fbclid=IwAR2u1DC_0mAo4_kSpK_1FLViLNyHJq0nAKctwfXCMxQi1CwuNiGBA10yY0w_aem_ATXzc0mSafM1xX72JZyfSo-7KpoTKXtkPQjmf6ToRhjQ_4GsDaGMH6Nf5ACoFWEW2pE I know it’s not great having a vulnerable car, but Lexus was rather clear a solution wasn’t yet available.
  17. The list is of affected vehicles. The article is clear Lexus will be communicating with dealers about their solution at the end of April. It should have been obvious there was no solution to book in for at the present time - obvious to both Neil and his dealership…
  18. They don’t. However, new EVs registered after April 2025 will again pay this.
  19. Not sure if you were talking about F Sport trim specifically, but in terms of the UX.. Lexus have sold approx 23k UX (hybrid & Ev) vs 34k CTs, 89k IS, 41k NX, and 61k RX in the UK. Some of those will have been scrapped by now, but, I suspect perspective may be skewed slightly in terms of what you’re noticing on the road! The UX (hybrid & EV combined) was (just) the best selling Lexus in the UK in 2021, 2022 and 2023 - around 1 in 3 Lexus cars sold those years. However, it was only just the best selling model - the new generation NX (hybrid & plugin) was only a couple of hundred units behind the UX in each of 2022 & 2023
  20. There’s also this dedicated page: https://www.toyota.co.uk/new-cars/yaris-cross/premiere-edition
  21. I assume it’s for all these bits… “Raise the floor, all new panels. wheel and tyre, jack, wheel brace, wheel nut spanner, spare wheel bolt.” someone in the parts department was taking the p*ss.
  22. Same boat as you, I’m afraid. Any Siri voice action in the car via CarPlay often results in complete gibberish.
  23. Bonkers. What did it show on the service plan paperwork?
  24. Never had these on my Audi or Volvo. Not something I consider as being necessary.
  25. In 2023, in the UK, only 16.5% of new cars registered were EV - in percentage terms, this was down slightly on 2022! https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-68199898
