  1. Apologies, got you confused with the thread starter GThorpe who has the 8gb drive! A slow transfer back to the drive probably indicates you have a slow flash drive. Performance varies greatly and also ensure you use the fastest USB ports on your computer (not all USB ports are created equally).
  2. This isn't true - it entirely depends how it is hardwired in. There are parts of the circuit which are kept live all the time, and parts that aren't. I have a Lexus-installed Dashcam in my car - it doesn't get power when the engine isn't on. The nextbase camera has a battery to support parking mode (which doesn't continuously record, only recording when triggered).
  3. As it's only an 8GB flash drive... do you not have a smartphone (iPhone or Android) that the music could be loaded onto? In terms of the issue... it's really the usual suggestions: check a different flash drive to see if it's a problem with the drive; and ideally try connecting a phone via USB cable to see if it connects (eliminating problems with the Lexus USB A port). I would also double check that the 8GB drive is formatted correctly (per instructions shared by others, above). Do note that formatting a drive wipes the contents - so ensure you've copied your music onto your PC first, so you can then copy it back across! Otherwise, I would try loading on only a few music files at a time - it may be long file names or special characters (anything other than letters and numbers) are causing a problem.
  4. Agreed. Also worth noting the view changes depending on whether you are reversing / moving forward. My problem is that I'm now so used to the 360 cameras and view on my NX, it's a chore when I have to just rely on parking sensors. I'm slightly worried I'll have lost the ability to reverse and park, relying only on mirrors, without any sensors at all...
  5. Indeed. If someone applied for a normal job and lied on their cv, it's a criminal offence called fraud. For some reason, the Chancellor doesn't think it applies to her...
  6. Welcome to the world of EU mandated safety aids. I’m afraid any new car will also come with similar.
  7. Unsafe? It’s designed to stop someone stealing your untethered type 2 cable by keeping the cable locked into your car. It is actually a very sensible anti-theft measure. The vast majority of 7kw-22kw public chargers do not have a tethered cable.
  8. Year to date, there have been 4722 LBX registered out of 13950 Lexus cars in total (so just over one third). An impressive feat given they only really started coming through from March. ObViously sales will be a different matter (and would feed through into new registrations eventually), but. I’d be surprised if it was 50%+ of sales…
  9. The only consistent for me is popcorn. 🍿🍿 🍿 Popcorn to watch otherwise sensible people losing their heads at another nation’s democratic election results. Popcorn for those claiming only “cis, white, straight, non-disabled men” are safe under Trump (huge Trump gains amongst women, Hispanics, blacks etc. all ignored in their blinkered reality, and where 1 in 5 LGBT voters voted Trump too) and yes, popcorn for the next 4 years, as a Trump is rather unpredictable. More people in the USA thought he was a better President than the other option, and for many, sadly, tolerance of people having different views has sadly disappeared. That lack of tolerance, losers consent, acceptance that people have different views - this poses a far greater danger to our society than Trump ever would (and yes that applies to Trump & and his supporters in 2020 too!).
  10. The problem is the few weeks that passed since purchase before it was noticed and raised - there is no evidence that it was there at point of purchase or something that the customer damaged in the few weeks they owned it. When purchasing my car, I went through everything on the dealers premises, and also took plenty of photos. I spotted a couple of issues which were rectified - would have been much more difficult once I’d driven away! That said, I would push for a better resolution -p than living with it - even offering to go 50/50 on a repair (at cost - not retail) given fault is difficult to confirm.
  11. I’ve had mine sat unused for three weeks, no issues at all on return. Have also had it sat unused for 1-2 weeks at a time, again no issues. It isn’t a worry I have with my NX 450h+ (my partner’s Toyota Yaris is however a whole other question). If you are worried, get a USB power bank that doubles as an emergency starter and keep it in the car.
  12. Figures sound about right. Lexus has a calculator on their website to give suggested range… Motorway driving in an EV is one of the least efficient for the motors and battery usage - essentially the opposite of diesel and ICE where you’d expect your best MPG.
  13. Well you’re on a Lexus forum and a good part of the current Lexus range are PHEVs with co2/km around 25g - so very much under 50g and thus the opposite of irrelevant. We all know you have disdain for any car built after circa 1980, but for once it may be worthwhile seeing the bigger picture…
  14. The wireless hardware is already there as it supports wireless CarPlay. It’s just a matter of a software update, if Lexus choose to do so. I would personally wait for the AAWireless Two dongle to be available in the UK
  15. I guess you missed all the BIK changes - huge increases for EVs and also PHEVs in future years: As always, need to dive into the budget detail to see what’s really going on.
  16. You can turn them off for a single journey via the screen. However, EU rules mandate they are re-enabled each time the car starts, so it’s something you’d need to do on every journey.
  17. Independent analysis shows there was no marked increase in “privatisation” under the Conservatives: https://www.kingsfund.org.uk/insight-and-analysis/long-reads/big-election-questions-nhs-privatised ”Overall, there is no evidence of a significant increase in spending on private providers or widespread privatisation of services in recent years.” It should be remembered that Labour baked in private sector involvement from the founding of the NHS - at the time of its creation the doctor’s union required GP practices to remain independent and private, outside the NHS. Conservative governments have ran the NHS for nearly two-thirds of its existence, and yet it’s still standing. Stop drinking the Labour kool aid and “24 hours to save the NHS” slogans, take off the blinders, and consider how we have an NHS fit for the 21st century.
  18. If your gut is telling you to be careful, I'd walk away. You've spotted a few clear inconsistencies and issues already - how many more might there be that only a qualified mechanic could spot and diagnose? Given your and any passenger's lives and safety depend on the soundness of the vehicle.. I'd find somewhere more reliable to purchase.
  19. This should hopefully help https://media.lexus.co.uk/lexus-presents-the-2022-es-luxury-saloon/
  20. Lexus cars were the most stolen in the UK in 2023 (as a percentage and proportion of cars on the road) due to a vulnerability in their vehicle communication system (canbus) - thieves pull back par of the front bumper or headlights, plug a device in that looks like a Bluetooth speaker, and within a minute the doors are unlocked and engine started. Im afraid the RX is the most popular vehicle they want to steal - 1 in 46 of all Lexus RX on the road were stolen in 2023, making it more stolen (as a proportion) than even Land Rovers. Hence many insurers just won’t touch any Lexus cars now (even those on new platforms that don’t have the same flaws), or charge a small fortune… https://mag.lexus.co.uk/lexus-uk-statement-on-vehicle-theft/?
  21. Were your front bumper or headlights damaged in any way? Thieves don’t need to use relay theft to steal many Lexus cars from 2016 to 2023 (your ES is vulnerable): https://mag.lexus.co.uk/lexus-uk-statement-on-vehicle-theft/? Your car is also as a result eligible for a tracker device from Lexus - it’s not great but may give slightly more peace of mind.
  22. Yes. Was very easy install once I got the right plastic tool (Amazon, naturally) to help easily remove the black plastic blanking plates. I think it was two of these (even though it says UX, NX is the same) : https://lexuspartsdirect.co.uk/product/lexus-ux-phase-1-front-door-courtesy-light-assembly/
  23. On the NX, they are only on Takumi. Not premium plus.
  24. There’s a reasonably common scam where a spare key is kept by a “seller” - and they then come and steal your new used car and take it back using that key! My first priority would therefore be securing the vehicle - if you have a driveway, using another car to block it in etc. A trip to the dealer for a service (it’ll activate a 1 year / 10k warranty) and getting any other keys removed from the security system in the car would seem to be on the cards. They can also order another key for you. I assume you ran a HPI check on the car ahead of purchase? If not, do that now before spending another penny…
  25. When I sold my last car, I had a problem with Motorway - can’t remember what the issue was - so ended up via Carwow, similar setup I think where traders bid for cars. The highest bid was a small trader approx 2 hours away. They were useless at confirming if they were actually going to show up or not, to the point I wasn’t going to believe it until they were physically there. They arrived (two people), and noted they’d not bought a car they’d looked at earlier - I wonder if they had been successful with that one, whether they’d have simply not shown up with me. They spent quite a bit of time looking over my vehicle, pointing out defects that had been clearly shown in photos and noted on the sales material and carwow description. Asked for a test drive, they broke the local speed limits, but they seemed happy enough. Then they tried to haggle(!) - I think they’d bid £10.5k via carwow. I just stuck to my guns and didn’t budge an inch. But this continued for 15 minutes. I was at the point of telling them to get lost, and I’m annoyed that in response to their “come on, why not £10250” etc. I didn’t start adding £50 on and upping my price every time they tried to knock my price down. I was conscious they’d travelled far and probably wouldn’t have wanted to leave empty handed… eventually they sent £500 to check my account got it and then the balance of £10k followed. But I can see that many people may have given in to their very persistent approach. Carwow followed up to find out if the sale went through - presumably as they want to bill the dealer for their commission. I flagged the rather horrendous experience, didn’t get more than an acknowledgment. Carwow weren’t interested. So while it will always be dependent on the trader who is buying,I definitely wouldn’t use Carwow again given they were completely indifferent. I only change vehicles every 5-7 years, so I’m hoping a better option might exist before I need to sell my current Lexus.
