You must be very pleased with her. From the bit that I can see your leather work is looking in particularly good condition. Have you done some restoring work on that, or is it just lightly used due to say low mileage? I think this blue colour really takes a good shine. In fact the only other colour that might just get me in buying mode is the Anthracite Grey that someone just bought on here recently (only one I have ever seen). Coupled with a tan ,or ecru interior that would be super appealing. However, there is a lot to be said for the black leather in pragmatic terms of daily usage. Do you drive it as your main car ,or do you just reserve it for fun days?

Thanks very much Ronnie. The answer is yes. When an opportunity arises then ceramic detailing is on the agenda. However, in fairness the kudos at this time all belongs to Stew who sold me this car. I have done nothing ,but pay the man, and I am very happy to have done that.

Moreover I had shoes albeit they had been worn by two other people before me. I think what you are trying to say is my story is parochial not reflective of society as a whole. Partially true, but probably only in so far as many other people had similar albeit different hardships to endure. Hoever, the underlying story is our times ,then and now, are just vastly different ,as opposed to better or worse.

Well, apparently you now have some company. I think it would be great to swap comparatives on our experiences with them albeit mine of course is so very recent. Having said which I cannot recall ever having been so enamoured of a car as I am with this one.

You see at 70 I think you are probably going to understand that the things you think are 'reality' today are not. They are in the main just one of many different perspectives that exist on virtually any issue. All those 'good' things you think we had that you don't are nothing more than a distortion of what you think you know about how we lived in the past. A past that you have not experienced for yourself ,but have only really heard about. For example, was it a good thing for a lad to be up at 5.30 ,clogs on, up the hill onto the moor to cut some peat for the open fire that was the only sort of heat that we had. Or perhaps it was a good thing to scrape the ice off your bedroom windows ! That is ,the ice on the inside !. Or perhaps it was a good thing to go to bed with blankets which were always semi damp from the lack of heat. Or if you like your sugar finding it hard to get hold of. Don't get me wrong here there really was some fantastic stuff growing up back then, but there was some really crap stuff as well. Moreover, I am fairly confident the same can be said of today. So who had it, has it better ? Frankly , the only thing I am really sure of is we of different generations have had it 'different'.

You know I agree with quite a lot of the points you are trying to make ,but then you go and spoil it with the intergenerational stuff. When and if you get to 70 I hope you can look back at this and laugh to yourself about the things you didn't know then. Been awhile since I bought new. However, last times there has always been a very detailed sales sheet showing all specified choices signed by them and me at the time of ordering so forgetting what was ordered has never been remotely possible. Do Lexus not do this?

I think there may be more logic there than appears at first blush. For example, perhaps a glass tint is seen to reduce the probability ,hence cost, associated with theft from cars. A PPF though one imagines raises the potential cost of a car repair following any damage to the bodywork. I really do not know if the above holds true. Just me musing on it.

Yes, I read your labour of love leather restoration. Have to say I admire that level of commitment and attention to detail. At this point I am assuming I won't need to compound, because this car has had a respray less than 2 years ago so I think whats there is going to be relatively superficial.

Todays wash and go was just a let's see what we have got here. What I leaned from it is that I will next do a full decon job on the Roof/Bonnet and Bootlid. Then I will build from there . On the face of it it probably looks good to most looking, but I wear variofocals and washing it at approx 9 inches magnifies everything for me and I see absolutely everything .I am just too pernicky to leave contaminants when with a bit of elbow grease they can be removed. Frankly , she deserves to look the best she can be so that is what I will attempt to deliver. Stew did such a great job with this car I would be letting the side down not to do my bit.
