  1. Good example of too much writing and not enough drinking.
  2. "am I paranoid or what? ". Appears a likely explanation. You see, I know this is going to come as a shock, they (whoever they are) don't know who you are, and they owe you nothing by way of information. That applies also to the wider general public unless they think it is a high risk public health and safety matter. Just because you have an 'itch', does not mean they are going to scratch it for you. I mean would you like to know what I am having for breakfast tomorrow? 😉 NB Please do not take that literally.
  3. It might be tough finding ,because it was a long time ago.
  4. The incident involved an RR adapted with a spitfire engine. It was recorded at about 170mph by police chasing it on the MOTORWAY. They burned out their engine giving chase, but eventually of course it was stopped. I remember it went to court for prosecution. I cannot however recall who was driving it.
  5. Reminded me of that RR with a spitfire engine that was in a police chase years ago. From memory the police burned out their engine trying to catch it. I was searching online for the news article ,but couldn't find it.
  6. What a coincidence. I have had my plates also since 1972, but I will never sell. Me and my friend in my first car.
  7. That's a coincidence. I keep mine there ,but call it wife.
  8. Interesting. I wonder can you pass your advanced driving test sat in the back seats ? I only ask 'cos for sure the beggar back there always seems to know how to drive better than me.
  9. See where you are going with this ! Warning, buy Lexus or else ! Wow, talk about tough sales pitch.
  10. Haha eureka, but did the cycle have an electric battery? 😉
  11. Let's have a brace of what every hormone driven teen should be listening to. Rolling Stones https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=hqqkGxZ1_8I&si=vk4cLyXvvUJ4GA52 https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=DOfDD2OYOZE&si=gMC0VooQu1YQP1zb
  12. "Oh for the luxury of a complete 7 day set of Lexiii" ...oh, now you've got me thunking and what about each a completely different colour ? Then we have the issue of matching the specific colour to it's specific day of use. Alternatively, we could just identify each colour as a particular emotional mindset and drive that when we felt that particular way. Nah, I'd get bored driving black 7 days a week.
  13. Don't knock plastic bags they are a major step forward from Brown bags (no way you are going to get that joke unless ugly humour is cross cultural). For clarity of moderation it is not known if Brown bags and a persons appearance ever correlated and did, or did not become a source of humour on this planet, or anywhere within this galaxy.
  14. Indeed, but the problem is the research is underway, but there is much division regarding what the results to date tell us. Without a doubt you have a strong view here, but still it is the nature of division that others disagree with you. For myself I have no issue with doing nothing, because I am not convinced on this climate change issue. My point is many others will not do that if only because they are driven to act by their nature.
  15. I was referring to the inflammatory potential of the derivative conversation regarding EV 'racism' which might burn down the forum if left uncontrolled. I forgot how 'literal' 😆 you can be.
  16. Well if I were to give you the principles of good portfolio management encompassing some Monte Carlo modelling then you would see writ large the mistake some people make when it comes to familial homes and inheritance tax. Damn it Malcolm stop snoring.
  17. It has been my experience that when it comes to uncertainty the thing people find hardest to do is NOTHING. They will act and do so in the most illogical manner just to try and remove uncertainty. I suspect they find it unduly stressful to live with the not knowing.
  18. Well damn it. Cancel my flight reservation straightaway 😉
  19. Indeed, far too long for me to post it comprehensively. However, starting with Terman (flawed or not) there is a vast amount of research work that would support the argument you are making. Opportunity is just that and nothing more. It's the rest, familial values and support, individuals motivation etc etc.that makes the idea of equal opportunity nothing more than a fairytale ideal hardly worthy of pursuit.
  20. Same as the cost of a hair transplant done in Turkey followed by the cost of Uk healthcare to put it right.
  21. Let me put it this way I don't believe in inheritance tax , but not for the usual reason. I don't believe in it , because stored wealth passed along is way too inefficient at every level. Spend it, gift it , but for god sakes don't try to sit on it and hatch it like an egg !
  22. Financial history is a sort of hobby of mine and I think I am pretty confident when I say that speculative investment as always been with us simply because human nature is what it is. That is, too much of it is based upon emotional reactions as opposed to objective analysis. The latter of course is not infallible if only because what you think you know is sometimes just clever misrepresentation. Still longstanding good management is usually a good way around that issue. Hence, Buffet buying the management comment.
  23. Clever guys, but not infallible. In the market no one is. However, their biggest secret (which is no secret at all) is buy right, leave to compound, and at all times be tax efficient. I can think of 3 guys within 1/2 mile of me who did just that at a more modest level of course and voila a comfortable retirement that is essentially based upon good decision making coupled with delayed gratification ( leave it, don't spend it). If I could take your average Joe Public and brainwash that into him then society would be much better prepared for the long term. heck they would look like Norway ! 😃
  24. Just been looking for a private plate for Lexigirl. Never got into it before. I am sure there must be some logic to the pricing ,but for the life of me I have not worked it out. Is there a system at all, or is it purely random with a bit of scarcity value applying in some cases?
  25. Think that is Electropop? It's very understated which I like. Pretty eclectic when it comes to music ,but that is one genre I seem not to have touched on much. Although I do have these... Digital Daggers https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=K2C6G3PCpqw&si=bc93SHmIBLGx8MVV
