  1. Does anyone tow with an RX450h ? (thinking about a 2020 on model). I see the nose weight limit is 80kg, which seems a bit low. Does AVS help with this? I'd be towing a horse trailer, weight 950kg plus a 600kg horse. It's a twin axle trailer, which should help with the nose weight. I plan to measure the empty nose weight tomorrow
  2. 100%. It's good that Lexus produced the plates but surely they have a duty of care to make sure that everyone gets them fitted, having sold vehicles with such a major security flaw. If they made it a recall, they may sell more cars because currently, insurance is getting insane. I've been looking for an RX 450h for quite a while and insurance quotes increased over the last six months from £650 to £1000+, and today it came in at £1400+. I won't now be buying one.
  3. I'm always confused by economy figures for plug in hybrids. Do your quoted figures exclude the cost of the electricity used, was this calculated?
  4. Two suggestions. Any photos pf the car out there while it was for sale? If you save the photos you can enlarge then to get a closer view. Secondly, can you trace the previous owner to ask about damage on the car when they sold it? I understand there are ways to get this information from DVLA
  5. Can anyone please advise towing limit for a 2021/2022 RX450h. It seems to vary between 3500lbs/1600kg to 2000kg, depending what I read
  6. GAP insurance is a big con in my opinion. Better to fight to make sure insurance companies pay out a proper market values for any losses
  7. The purpose of insurance is to put you back in the same position you were in before your loss. You (and they) can find a realistic value for your car within minutes, based on age, condition, mileage etc. Send them examples of similar cars for sale. They accepted your policy and charged you a premium based partly on that value. This is why gap insurance is a con, it's only needed if car insurance is not fit for purpose. You should fight tooth and nail. including the ombudsman if necessary.
  8. Apologies for the last sentence, it looks a bit passive aggressive now I read it again, it wasn't intended to be.
  9. Finding local recommended tradespeople, either by looking at previous posts or by asking on local groups,, keeping in touch with distant relatives and sharing photos and videos, finding local things for sale (bit of a minefield tbh but I have picked up some good buys), free and VERY effective advertising for my daughter's dog grooming business, keeping up with local campaign groups, getting reviews for local pubs, restaurants and other local businesses, often with better information, photos etc than any other source (for many businesses now, their sole website is a FaceBook page). Currently, my local group is posting updates on flooding and which roads are impassible. That enough for you?
  10. I'm on the fence about buying an RX, having been 99% ready to go ahead. I may still get one, depending on insurance quotes. If I get one, with the plate fitted, i considered ordering some magnetic signs, like fridge magnets, with the words "Canbus protection fitted", and then placing them on each wheel arch when I park up. Together with every other device I can think of, obviously. Any thoughts on whether this might be effective?
  11. My application to join this FaceBook page has been ignored and no new members have been added for ages. I messaged Suky Singh, the admin, a while ago but received no response. Suky seems to have disappeared from FaceBook. It seems a useful page and a shame that new members are unable to join. Is there any way it can be resurrected, perhaps with anew admin?
  12. The earliest report I've seen was in Japan, an article dated September 2021 referring to a canbus theft there in July 2021 - https://soranews24.com/2021/09/02/japanese-police-struggling-with-growing-number-of-can-invaders-used-to-steal-luxury-cars/
  13. Still waiting for a response. No new member seem to have been added for many weeks. Has Suky Singh given up on it?
