  1. You could do the start button, shift lever & pedals dance to activate MAINTENACE mode to force the ICE to run. It will say MAINTENACE MODE on the display while its active. Make sure you cancel maintenance mode before attempting to drive the vehicle! Plenty of videos showing how on everyone's favourite video hosting website.
  2. The reason why a lot of aftermarket security companies wont touch Toyota / Lexus hybrid vehicles isn't down to the CAN bus, its they just don't have a clue on how to fit an aftermarket security system to one without causing issues with the hybrid system.
  3. Steering wheel locks dont work either, seen videos & pictures of plenty that haven't stopped the vehicle being taken. Also if they cut the steering wheel it can be expensive to replace especially if it heated.
  4. Fitting an aftermarket alarm / immobiliser - warn away sounds as soon as the thieves attempt to gain access to carry out CAN invader theft then full alarm will sound if they continue. Immobiliser stops the vehicle being driven away.
  5. You need to report the vehicle stolen to the Police first & obtain a crime reference number. Tracker require that crime reference number before they will trigger the tracker & start sharing the vehicles location with the Police.
  6. Hopefully it has the protection plates & tracker plus geo fence device fitted FOC from a Lexus main dealer.
  7. Toyota / Lexus fixed the IT system glitch that allowed a backdown in to the new vehicle order tracking process to prevent people from status diving using the order number via a PC internet browser.
  8. An S5 tracker with no tag = no start would have been a much better solution as it would stop the vehicle being driven away in the first place. Seems Lexus / Toyota have gone with the cheapest & easiest to install " solution " that still doesn't solve the real underlying issue, being able to enter then drive the vehicle away easily.
  9. Its not exactly difficult to disable the built in Lexus vehicle location services.
  10. TSB or Technical Service Bulletin isn't just related to safety issues. Toyota / Lexus now very protective over vehicle security information on the technical portal.
  11. Its not eligible to qualify for a recall under DVSA regulations so Lexus cannot access the DVLA records to contact vehicle owners.
  12. The factory fitted security system is Thatcham Cat 1 - unfortunately since it was certified newer theft methods now mean its easily beatable from outside the vehicle. Lexus do now offer free protection plates for RX & a Thatcham Cat S7 tracker device FOC to affected vehicles including a 3 year free subscription.
  13. Strange as the EU requirements stipulate vehicles with an ICE require OBD port. AFAIK only Tesla don't have OBD due to the all electric platform.
  14. The brown stuff being confused with rust has been mentioned before on the Toyota forum - it turned out to be some kind of cavity wax applied at the factory confirmed by Toyota UK on inspection of the vehicle.
