Whilst driving down a dual carriageway a few weeks back the combination of road camber and a passing articulated truck resulted in my NX450+ experiencing something similar to that of a sudden strong wind hit to the side. This movement made me feel slightly queasy for a short period. Since this I've felt that the car feels slightly 'bouncy' and doesn't appear to be as planted as it once was. I've checked tyre pressures just in case one of the UK's many thousands of potholes that had an affect but all looks OK from that front. The car is in for its first service in a few weeks so will mention this to Lexus but could the incident a few weeks back have affected my suspension in some way?

My insurance is up next month. If it goes beyond £700 I'll look at getting rid of the car as I can't see the insurance situation changing anytime soon. Any savings I intended to make with regards to ongoing costs will slowly evaporate. My wife has just exchanged her PHEV for something far less green and more sporty and is now enjoying far cheaper insurance. The whole car market is complete madness with any incentive to go 'green' being kicked into the long grass.

Until the weekend I'd always used a USB stick for my music store in my NX450h and all worked fine but having just bought a new Samsung mobile with oodles of storage I decided to use the phone as the music store. One of the main reasons for doing this was to free up the USB data connector for Android Auto if ever needed. One difference that became instantly apparent is that the interface presented is slightly different than that when using music sourced from USB. The interface using the USB displayed an A-Z quick list option on the far right of the screen which, although too small and a bit of a pain to touch on, gave me the option of quickly moving to artists\albums\tracks beginning with a certain letter. This option isn't present when music is sourced from the Samsung phone so if I want to choose music from say, ZZ Top, I have to scroll through every artist entry from A to Z. This takes an age. Has anyone else noticed this? Is it linked to the phone model or is it the same for all phones? Is there a workaround?

Insurance renewal - pleasant surprise
BonzoSPB replied to BillSt's topic in Lexus NX300h / NX200t / NX350h / NX450h+ Club
There should be a law that prevents a manufacturer from selling models that their own insurance won't cover. There are Range Rover owners who are selling their nearly new vehicles with huge losses in value because they can't get affordable insurance. Here's hoping that certain Lexus models don't go the same way. -

I've just used Lexus Insurance for a quote and it's gone from £404, what I currently play with another provider, to £1550! This doesn't even include the add-ons that would match my current policy. -
Stats on NX 450h+ Predicted EV Range

Now that we're on page 24 of this topic I'm of the opinion that the predicated range figure is of no value or importance whatsoever. -

The car is obviously the issue but I assume they failed to detail why? I'd guess that it's linked to either security or battery technology or possibly even both. -

Having just seen this post I've checked on my possible NX450h renewal and the cheapest quite is £240 higher than what I paid 11 months back - no claims, no convictions. Ridiculous. Having just sold the wife's Mini Countryman PHEV for a surprisingly low amount due to what we were told are 'industry concerns about batteries' I'm beginning to wonder if the whole electric\PHEV industry is turning out to be an expensive disaster for the consumer. I'm beginning to wish I'd ignored all of the green\electric crap and gone for the M340 xDrive which was my original plan. -
Interesting...

What should I go for NXh or UXh?

You wouldn't believe how many new cars there are that have a list price of just over £40k. -
I can report that after having all four door handles and the petrol cap replaced the doors opened fine after a frost over the weekend.

Having just had a UX for a day as a courtesy car whilst my NX was having its locks replaced I can safely say that the NX is in a different league in terms of quietness and comfort. The UX seemed noisy and quite harsh. -
Four new handles and petrol lock replaced last week - 4 hours. We are now guaranteed warm winters for the period I keep the car for 😃

My washer nozzles are frozen but I know that my washer fluid was nowhere near being strong enough to stand the frost so on next top up I'll be putting in a winter concentration. I called my local Lexus dealer about the stuck petrol cap so they're going to order the replacement part for that too - something to do with the spring apparently. Lexus Norway must be busy at the moment.
-
Ha ha. So far the charging cover and boot have remained fully accessible.
-
And now my petrol cap won't open. Oh the joy.

I'm ringing Lexus today as the inability to get into the car with frozen doors is ridiculous. The last time I suffered from similar issues was in the early 90s with a Mark II Orion. At around 7pm last night I needed to use the car. It hadn't been used since the previous evening so was pretty iced up. It took me over 5 minutes to get into the driver's door with the aid of warm water. The passenger side front door would only open from the inside. I never managed to open the rear doors after over 15 minutes of warm water treatment. I didn't manage to open any of the windows after what seemed to be a thorough defrosting from the inside. It's now 9am and the car is frozen over again so let's see if I can find a way of entering the Lexus NX450 Houdini edition. Update - one thing I noticed last night when trying to open the rear doors is how lightweight and flimsy the door panels are. The amount of movement in the panel was something I've never experienced on a car for many years.

Stats on NX 450h+ Predicted EV Range

Is 14KwH considered the norm for a full charge? I use the full 18.1 KwH in my calculations just to be sure. -

32 miles for me from the last full charge. If this remains the norm over a cold winter I think it'll be cheaper to not bother charging and use HV mode\petrol.
