  1. Hi im thinking of buying a sat nav system for my IS 200 does anyone have any advise on what would be best/suitable?

ive just brought tomtom 700 from comet with free speed camea check its great got blue tooth so u can use your phone as well on it and also traffic updates witch is a cost option but free 4 a month .

  2. Morning All

I have had my IS for 5 weeks and at the weekend got a puncture in the side wall of my rear tyre.

So put the spare on and hot footed it t ATS. They check the other tyres which had all had plenty of tread on.

However 2 of the tyres had cracking all the way round in the tread where the tyre wear markers are.

So I took it back to the dealer who have taken the tyres off and are sending them to Bridgestone to have them checked out. If Bridgestone say that they are OK then I will be paying 50% of the cost for 2 new tyres.

The question is has anybody had anything similar. ?

    Thanks

tokk me car in tday had 4 wheel geomety checked way out more so on the back , no joy on cracks in tyres they said they were ok but replaced them anyway as the tracking had trashed them ive learnt my lesson get the tracking cheched regulary its cheaper than 2 new tyres lol

YES I HAVE checked them yesterday only about 3 months old and small cracks all around the tread gonna take them back tomorrow

Let me know how you get on.

  4. Folks,

    Am an owner of a 2003 IS200SE.

I recently had my tyres changed to find that the inside treads had all worn down but had a good 6-8mm on the rest of the tyre. Speaking to Lexus Guildford, they told me that this was by design and that the wheels were set in a way for better road holding and that is why I'd get the wear that way..hmmmm sounds fishy to me.

On further investigation I found that many owners were having issues with their alignment and that some people were having to change their tyres as often as every 6 months. In other cases people were paying for the car to be realigned on a regular basis...either way incurring way too much expense.

I had my alignment checked and it was out...within 2 months it was out again. Guy at the garage seemed to think it was the parts that Lexus use within the suspension that allow for this to happen far too easily.

My question to anyone who would be kind enough to answer...Do you have this problem? Have you heard of this problem before. looking at other forums and speaking with other Lexus owners it does seem to be an issue however as this is a more reputable site I wanted to know what the folks here thought. It could be me going mad but if there is a known problem then it's something that Lexus might want to address. If it's me going mad then I'll take my head in for an MOT!

    Many thanks

    Kind regards

iHAVE THE SAME PROBLEM i had the front 2 tyres replaced about 5 thousand miles ago and yet again bald on the inside tread on both tyres, is it worth going back to lexus or does any body know any one good near wolverhampton

  5. Afternoon all,

I took Ownership of my first Lexus IS200 yesturday and what a dream to drive ive been reading through the Manual and found that the battery indicator should always show half way between 0-18V Mine seems to sit Constantly about 3quaters up on the dial? Is this serious and how can it be fixed?

    Many Thanks

    Proud New Lexus Owner

the gauge sould read on 12 volts if not get it checked could be charging problem or faulty Battery, enjoy your car

  6. hey lads i just recently bought a rs200 and im new to this forum im just wondering what kinda fuel consumption are you guys gettin from your cars when your not giving them hell?

it used to bother me with fuel consumpton but not any more its just fun fun fun, just enjoy it mate, i did add cataclean to it it did give me a bit more mpg as any one else tried it??? :driving:

    Bout 300 mile to a tank :D

where did u get that cool front spoiler from it looks great

  7. doesnt it depend on how you are driving? aka if u are tearing the arse out of the car you aint gunna get that many miles, where as if you drive nice and easy like motor1 does :D you will get good milage?

me drive nice and easy i need more power more power, what am i saying im going to buy a diesel lol

  8. I feel sorry for you all. I had a superb granite sky is200 sport earlier this year and had to sell it as it used too much fuel, i only live less than 2 miles from my work but even taking it and driving at the weekend i was paying about £40-50 per week on fuel.

I guess it depends how much you can offord to spend but a maximum of 25mpg was terrible most of the time it was 20mpg.

I bought an old passat tdi s reg, estate and get roughly 48mpg in town and 55mpg on motorways. or 680 miles  per tank.

I know its not a lexus but i feel better knowing that i dont have to spend lots on fuel.

I still have my xsara vts anyway to play with.

nice car u have must admit as much as i like it i keep thinking about getting a diesel a BMW or something , any recomendatons? heard mercs r not good these days

  9. Hi Folks,

Since my post from a couple of days ago where my car was acting odd I have been keeping an eye on a few things - one thing being MPG.

I put 22 litres of Optimax in the car yesterday and that has taken me 87 miles :crybaby:, which is less than 20mpg.

My route for the above was M4 j11 - j8/9 3 times with some cross country driving needing to make 4 stops to pick up bits and bobs. Now I am not a sedate driver but I should be getting a little bit more than 19 and a bit mpg shouldn't I.

ive tried catacleen in my is300 and its hardly made any difference ,runs smother but still lucky to get 20mpg, any 1 else tried cataclean? :driving:

  10. Hi all,

You are not going to beleive this but I'm quite chuffed with MPG I'm getting out of my IS200se.  Getting around 30MPG, used to have a Rover 420 and that done less...!  Getting about 100 more miles out of the same cash.

    :driving:

not bad then lol another happy lexus driver lol

  11. :driving: :D

Im lucky if I get 26mpg in my IS200........still wished id have gone for the IS300 though! Welcome to LOC! Whats the colour of your beast?

That's what I get in my IS300 on my daily commute of 20 miles each way.

I get into the 30's on a long motorway run, neither of those are hanging around either.

I managed 500 miles on 60 litres in my Supercharged IS200 by accelerating and driving steady

im lucky to get 400 in mine

If you are getting 400 to a tank then you are doing well, I normally get 350 and that's about 26mpg.

glad you said that uve cheered me up a bit now lol

  12. just after i got mine i drove from basingstoke to glasgow and chowed down on nearly 100 litres of petrol, but an adjustment in driving style ment i got back, using just a tank, (486 miles) but maybe thats cause its all down hill  :D its worth the cost for the fun when you find a good road to ragg it along in phsyco mode, whoo hoo, plus my misssus hates the fact that i usemy feet as a micro switch, bury that mpg needle in the 0 area you wont mind filling up as much then when you have a huge big grin on your boat race

yep its true its great fun to drive

  13. Im lucky if I get 26mpg in my IS200........still wished id have gone for the IS300 though! Welcome to LOC! Whats the colour of your beast?

Mines blue but some i drove into it in a car park saturday scuffed my bumber drove off , still chips away reapared it looks better than ever now

Blue is a nice shade on Lexus. You say scuffed, did they take the paint off or was it just a paint indent mark? Reason I ask as my rear bumber is scuffed big time! Bad lcuk about the b :tsktsk: d who didnt stop!

How much did the repair cost?

yep it was quite bad but cost £114 to repair
