  1. You can also try spraying anti bacterial cleaner such as dettox etc through outside air vents with aircon running full. - this worked for me.
  2. don't worry - if you are speeding that fat sod will never catch you on a bike :D
  3. It highlights the fact that by only looking at mpg you can be mislead into thinking a certain car will be a money saver..... For example you could swap to a hybrid but unless you analyse the gallons used for your mileage and the extra cost of the car you cannot know if you will save money. e.g buying a diesel Fiat 500 over a petrol one takes you 170,000+ miles to get your money back.
  4. Saw this and it got me thinking.... How much do you save by buying a so called more efficient car? So if you are thinking of buying a hybrid, make sure you do the maths!
  5. Let us know how you get on - I have had my RX 350 for a couple of years now and can't rate it highly enough. As for the test drive - gearbox should be smooth, check load cover for rattles (they often come loose and rattle), check tyres - they can be £600 for 4 so if they are low use this as bargaining tool. Check for stone chips on the bonnet and front bumper. Other than that if it drives well and has FSH you should be fine.
  6. Check driver seat for squeaks and sagging - I have had my seat replaced because of this. alloy wheel corrosion If it is SE-L make sure the air suspension works - i.e. it drops / raises and rides level. and in general check all electrics work - seats, windows, tailgate, etc and check that air con blows cold air
  7. Postcode is 4 digit not full postcode maps are 2D No speed cams on it I think in general terms a Tom Tom or such will give greater functionality but IMHO it's one more thing to plug in, charge, get nicked, dangle wires from. I like the inbuilt system and have had no complaints so far. I do a lot of traveling and the lexus system hasn't failed to get me there yet.
  8. I ban whiteman for making me want a beer
  9. I have had sagging seats replaced in an LS, GS and now RX - I am 15 stone. Wonder if they test te seats with larger boned folks in Japan??!! :D
  10. In my experience Lexus seats are the weak part of the experience for some. I found that the padding /support went in my seat base after about 12000 miles. I spoke to Lexus about it and they replaced the seat for me. In fact I have had seats replaced in LS, GS and RX!!! Maybe I have a wonky bum?!! :)
  11. I spoke to a dealer who "confirmed" new RX 2009 followed by small lexus to compete with golf shortly after.
  12. SE-L has air suspension - allows you to drop or raise the car a little and provides self levelling. If you tow this could be useful Not sure if SE has the swiveling headlamps, or Mark Levinson stereo?
  13. Now all 4 wheels are balanced and pointing in the same direction it feels good! :)
  14. Took the RX to WIM today to get the checks and balances done and what can I say? Really chuffed with their service - highly recommended. First they balanced and swapped my wheels - according to Lexus my wheels were fine but WIM showed them to have been balanced by an idiot and that only 3 had been done! :D Next got the laser tracking check and a clean bill of health. Finally had some nice coffee and a surprisingly small bill!!! Overall - highly recommeded and great professional service at all times. Thanks to all at WIM - see you soon for new tyres....
  15. ICE system in RX - anyone managed to connect a playstation via the three coloured leads? Also wondering what kind of adapter needed to power PS from 12v socket? Any help appreciated...
  16. Also check tyre pressures - if you get a leak it will constantly be trying to keep the car level and you may hear the pumps working
  17. Hi, I have 350 SE-L and can confirm that left front clicks and rear buzzes for a short time on start up.
  18. 1 - check luggage cover is "plugged in" correctly 2 - fasten up rear seat belts 3 - moved rear seats at all - check they are locked in place 4 - check under boot storage and toolkit in spare wheel
  19. It probably is a faulty sensor but check them for muck / leaves / dead flies. I had one go off when it had a bug splat on it and another when there was a gob of car polish stuck to it. Suggest you give them a good clean and see what happens.
  20. mine arrived this morning - is it any good?
