  1. Philh3333, The part number you need it 68910-48023 its the latest part number for the rear PBD motor, if you do need one theirs a company in the UK that can supply them or buy from abroad much cheaper than Lexus dealer. If you are capable of swapping it out yourself quite an easy job
  2. Philh333, I would suggest try this reset procedure, check around battery for water, you could drop rear of roof to see around PBD Motor for damp - hopefully your motor hasn't broke 😞
  3. Oh Gosh ! that's a shame seems like there is a pattern to these failures and the cost owners are paying the Lexus dealers to fix the issue seems excessive. I have found two places where we can get these motors for far cheaper cost Approx £600, and fitting is not that hard. At least yours is fixed now like many of us. 🙂
  4. Richard was aware of the Boot access MOT requirement as had the same issue with an Old Jazz that a friend had. Anyway, what did Lexus do about the Back door fix ? How did they fix it ? Paul
  5. Peter I think your right from about 2016 - RX450H Up to 2015 Motor in roof after that I think its motorised struts ? Ive been having a look as to replace the former roof motor is about £800 but struts are around £200-300. 😞 someone in Lexus must have had a brain wave !
  6. None Taken Herbie, Are you saying the motor won't lift the Tail gate if there are not struts ? I was thinking it would take out a potential part of the problem with a little help from your hand and see if its a strut issue ? Paul
  7. John , Your synopsis sounds about right, other option is to remove one at a time see if it manages to close normally - I think yours could be a strut issue rather than a motor issue. The amazon struts are an interesting replacement I'll wait to se if others comment on suitability but they seem to fit Paul
  8. Thanks Herbie, I did wonder but thought it only gets hot in use, all the other time it just sits there - if it does get hot it might dry out the wet in the roof !!! lol
  9. LOL Don't think you have ! had mine over 6 years and this is the only thing that's gone wrong. So its either you have been out and the battery has charged up again ? if it wasn't at first. but suspect of that. Or its aMoisture issue (which I feel mine was). And your trip out has dried up the moisture. Its quite an easy job to drop the rear headlining to have a look at the Motor ECU and check for any damp, if your so inclined. see pics of mine
  10. Rob, In answer to your previous questions - I did in fact take my old unit to an electronics firm to have it checked out, the guys said it would cost about £110 per hour, two hours work and if the chips were programmed they would not be able to rep-program them. hence I went down the route of a second unit cheapest I could find. As for protection from Wet - my new electrical unit is wrapped in protective cling film and tape now and I will look at adding further water protection form above and round the new unit just to make sure 🙂 good luck Monday
  11. Rob the part number you need it 68910-48023 its the latest part number Paul
  12. Rob, welcome to the logical way this fault seems to manifest ! 😞 Only thing I can suggest is try dropping the roof to see if you can see any damage to the Motor ECU, I.e Water ingress ? You said your car was laid up for a couple of weeks ? Was it in a wet environment ? they do seem to be very fragile to any sort of change. Humidity or Battery. Update to all on my Issue. Ordered a new part from UAE cost approx £600 and was shipped really quickly, arrived and fitted all working now ! Phew !! what a mess It seems like if you have a RX450H 2010 model, this is an issue you will come across some time or later. I really cannot understand why these units seem to prone to a similar issues on the same car and same year and how we communicate this back to Lexus ?- As for the detail I still don't know which actual item failed to cause this issue - as you need to change out the whole unit to fix when I suspect half of the mechanicals and motor are fine. Thanks to all the people on here that helped in this and good advice was given to narrow down my fault. Paul
