Anyone here owned a Ferrari...
RadicalCoupe-Fuji replied to pfn's topic in Lexus General Discussions
Ive not owned a Ferrari, but I watch a Youtube channel called JayEmm on cars & he owns a few second hand ones, it seems like he spends more time trying to keep them running than driving them, but he also seems to enjoy the trials of owning such cars. Recently he did this video about the long term issues hes had with his F430, seems like even if youre happy to throw money at the car it can still be a headache. Youre also limited to who can service & repair the car, got a local Ferrari specialist? -
Missing front bumper cover
RadicalCoupe-Fuji replied to UX250h's topic in Lexus UX250h / UX300h / UX300e Club
maybe it was damaged during fitment or badly formed, the little clips are just plastic, also the tethers can break off or perhaps whoever fitted it originally/last didnt fit the tether into the hole. -
Purpose of the Lexus Link+ app?
RadicalCoupe-Fuji replied to MrB's topic in Lexus UX250h / UX300h / UX300e Club
You have to get the app & accept the agreement to activate the app controls. -
Missing kit.

No one anywhere has had a second key on most Lexus since the silicon shortage whenever that was, locking wheel nuts still dont exist on cars that have the new wheel bolts instead of wheel nuts because of a design issue..apart from the LC500 which started getting the locking wheel bolt just recently. -
Tailgate kick sensor
RadicalCoupe-Fuji replied to GALex's topic in Lexus NX300h / NX200t / NX350h / NX450h+ Club
In the UK the higher spec ones definitely have a kick sensor, unsure if its an option or part of the grade, if you had a tow bar accessory fitted it will be swapped out for a shorter kick sensor that will only work on the left side of the bumper. -
Post your Pics

Had the RCF for a year now. Apart from getting the road tax letter in the post its been a great experience. -
Bit random but recently the heat shield above the right hand exhaust backbox came loose & rested on the top of exhaust, it had 4 mounting points but they had all corroded away so it was 100% loose but not in danger of falling off the car, is this sort of thing common on these? Cheap replacement though.

I did find out the problem with engines in the USA, apart from in VW's case the cars we get in the EU are made in Germany at the Wolfsburg plant & in the USA they come from Mexico, the cars we get in the UK/EU have some form of port injection to combat the carbon problem too while the american ones dont. It seems that some of the IS models have port injection too, id just make sure to get one that does.

Letting my RCF go
RadicalCoupe-Fuji replied to Jon_B's topic in Lexus F Club - Lexus IS-F / GS-F / RC-F Club
If you're in no rush, I'd hold on for 6 months. Even if the proces dont improve it will make showing & testing the car better & safer with lots more daylight & less wet roads. -
A YouTube channel called "carwow" has been drag racing the tesla model x plaid against hyper cars. It beats every one off the line & up to 150mph.

Shortcomings of NX 350H
RadicalCoupe-Fuji replied to Me 2023's topic in Lexus NX300h / NX200t / NX350h / NX450h+ Club
Well, they are still supplying most of the new cars with 1 key fob so I doubt that will be resolved for current owners probably even well into next year. Its not poor company performance, its just a global reality following the covid pandemic. Every model that has wheel bolts instead of nuts has no locking kit, RX, RC, RZ, BZ. its not just the NX. -
locking wheel nuts
RadicalCoupe-Fuji replied to robby666's topic in Lexus NX300h / NX200t / NX350h / NX450h+ Club
It stems from the switch to wheel bolts from wheel nuts. The first car to get them was the BZ4X & it had design issues with wheel bolts coming loose, they redesigned the regular wheel bolts but they never made new locking ones, so all new Toyota & Lexus that have bolts instead of nuts dont get a set of locking ones. I thought the locking ones would come but its been at least 16 months now & all the new Lexus models get bolts now with the exception of the ES, LC & UX which I guess will get the bolts when/if they do a full new model of those. Who the hell steals alloy wheels these days anyway I guess. There have been many part shortages on owner manuals & some admin mistakes so a lot of NX got sent from the PDI without one. They get an owners manual now though. -
My RCF had its major service in June at a Lexus dealer, Im pretty sure this involved the diff oil being changed & since then I have noticed the same thing as in this post. When pulling out of a parking space or something like that the left rear skips & skids, havent noticed any noises or anything during general driving. I thought maybe it was a characteristic of the LSD & id just not noticed before or maybe that as we got into summer i had the windows down a lot more & could hear it Would Lexus put the wrong oil in the diff? Like is the diff oil used in the RCF the same oil that goes in the other RC models?

Gearbox hesitation
RadicalCoupe-Fuji replied to sevoflurane's topic in Lexus F Club - Lexus IS-F / GS-F / RC-F Club
Ive always had manual cars & avoided autos, rcf only comes in auto like a lot of similar cars, i found it hard to get used to, go to overtake & nothing happens, but now I am used to manually dropping gears with the paddles when I know I'm going for an overtake or something & the car takes off when I want rather than ending up steering into the right lane but not going anywhere. Auto box can't read your mind & in normal or eco the gearbox is also fast asleep. -
Mudflaps
RadicalCoupe-Fuji replied to WhiteHart's topic in Lexus NX300h / NX200t / NX350h / NX450h+ Club
No, they ran out. I work at the place they get fitted & they had a 3 month lead time, they were holding the cars but in the end they started shipping them without mud flaps, they are in stock & being fitted now though. -

You know things are bad when theres a shortage on quick & easy to produce moulded plastic parts. -
some years ago took a car to Kwik fit to get 2 new tyres & have the alignment checked because I managed to kiss the kerb with the front wheel on an icy mini roundabout & wanted to be sure nothing had happened to the alignment, I booked online, I waited while they did the work, they did the tyres & noticed that I never saw them do the alignment. They billed me for it & told me everything was done, I had to point out that I didnt see them do the alignment & then they did it. i think they were trying it on. I also paid to have nitrogen in the tyres instead of air as it was a thing at that time but who knows if I got that haha. Went another time to a different kwik fit a year or so ago for some new tyres & they did an alignment check without asking or mentioning it & claimed the alignment was way out & showed me a dodgy printout with the scary red readings on it, except the car drove fine, no pulling in the steering or uneven tyre wear or anything so I really thought they were trying a scam. They had me a bit paranoid though, so took it elsewhere for a free alignment check & it was all fine. Time wasted. I actually went back to the same kwik fit a few weeks ago in the rcf because I had a slow puncture in one of the rear tyres, I only went because it was closest & I wanted it sorted out asap, went into the reception & asked if they could do it, the young guy there said they didnt have time, I asked if I could make an appointment, they said no but they could get a new tyre. They have time if you want to buy a new tyre but not for a puncture! While I was there the cocky 19/20 year old behind the counter who was managing the garage it seemed informed me that my brakes were shot because they squealed a bit when I was parking up, I told him it was the oem pads & high carbon discs on that model & it was unfortunately common, I knew the brakes were fine but he said I was wrong & that he would put it on a lifter right then & prove it (after he told me he didnt have time to repair a puncture in a tyre) I guess at 20 years old all the years of experience he had being a trained mechanic at a kwik fit meant he knew more about my car than me. Id rather go further out of my way than go back to a kwik fit now, there seems to be a pattern of dodgy practices.

Lexus Dealer Quality - A Natural Decline?
RadicalCoupe-Fuji replied to Rabbers's topic in Lexus General Discussions
Just had my rcf serviced & mot'd on Thursday. Was fine until during the health check they found the offside rear brake disc to be corroded because the brake pad wasnt fitted very well, not worn out, so it was an mot failure. They ordered a new pair of rear discs & pads but when they showed up the next day the kit had 2 lhs pads, as the pads are directional that wouldn't work so they ordered a new kit which wouldn't be in until Monday, they gave me a free nx courtesy car to use, got the kit & was all done Monday. Bit annoying that the disc was only no good because presumably a lexus tech fitted the pad badly at some point. £835 on top of the £770 service.
