  1. I dont know, id like to see a car that doesnt need components replacing as it gets towards 20 years old. I had an 18 year old Nissan that also had the battery light come on & needed an alternator rebuild & 90's Nissan was good quality. A ssangyong may not even make it to 20 years old, cars like that end up on the scrap heap after 10 years.
  2. There are solar powered battery maintainers. ie - https://shop.ringautomotive.com/rsp2000-20w-solar-battery-maintainer.html
  3. The dreaded Valley plate coolant leak seems to be the worst nightmare I've heard you can have, just check for evidence of dried coolant under the car I guess.
  4. I got my road tax reminder this week & it says in red writing that tax on hybrid & ev cars will be going up in 2025. At least it won't be £750 a year though.
  5. To me the BZ4x & Solterra are practically the same, the RZ is much nicer inside & looks a lot better than the other 2. The only thing I dont like on the RZ is the flap for the charging point, it doesnt ever seem to fit well & feels like cheap plastic. Also none of the cars have sliding covers for the panoramic roof so you cant block the sun, apart from the RZ which if you spend more you get roof glass that turns white at the press of a button. In the toyota you can get a JBL sereo upgrade but its not a patch on the Mark Levinson upgrade on the Lexus.... oh & none of them have a glovebox! genius.
  6. All I ever hear is that they will kill all sedans & everything with be SUV's & crossovers.
  7. I've seen a number of these now. The best one being 2 seats in the back that can fully recline like a bed with a TV screen the width of the vehicle, fridge, full floor carpet mats. I think it's the coke & hookers edition.
  8. After much pondering about a lack of spare wheel, I bought a "dynaplug" kit & I already have a 12v tyre compressor I keep in the car. If you can find the hole in the tyre you can plug it up
  9. white smoke could be coolant leaking into combustion chamber or the car isnt burning the diesel properly.
  10. you must have a fitted a flat battery by mistake or fitted it upside down?
  11. Had the RCF serviced & the fuel vent recall done today & they fitted the OEM tpms, it works now. Im unsure if it was a coding thing or the part that was not working well with the car, but id only replace them with the OEM in the future, TPMS was £75 from lexus parts direct & whatever brand/part the tyre place supplied in the first instance was a similar price.
  12. The rz & bz4x don't have the issues with the battery, seems like a design issue with the uxe, the cars we get don't even have the dome fuse in so it can't be a drain. You just have to drive it frequently I guess.
  13. I work with these cars & i can confirm that the majority of them need jump starting all the time. Im not sure about UXE but the RX 450+ can die if you jump it wrong, needs a new ECU.
  14. The regular tyre place I went to that replaced the valve says they can't program the oem ones, just the ones they stock & fit.
  15. I bought a sensor for £75 from lexus parts direct. As my car is going in for its service at lexus in a couple of weeks, I'll ask how much to fit & code the sensor but I'm expecting a rip off price, so I'm looking for a place that can program the oem stuff
  16. Tumbleweeds. Well I decided to order the exact TPMS sensor from toyota & can only hope it will fix it. If only it was a DIY job.
  17. I have a 2015 RC-F but no idea if TPMS is similar on all models so I posted here to maybe have more chance of responses. I had a slow puncture in a rear wheel, the air was leaking from where the valve meets the rim, I took it to a tyre place & they couldnt get the TPMS off because it was seized & was going to break, so they asked me what I wanted to do, I said it was ok to replace it, so they broke it off & put a new TPMS sensor on that wheel, cloned the ID etc. I drove away after but I noticed none of the tyre pressures were showing on the dash, the TPMS light wasnt on, I thought it might take a few miles to recalibrate or something, but it never came back. I read the manual, did the turn on the ig, press the TPMS button under the dash, it flashed 3 times & then waited a few minutes, turned it off & back on again, didnt work. Plugged in the diag tool, it shows all 4 sensor ID's & all sensors are reading a pressure. Took it back to the tyre place, they spend 2 hours messing with it, resetting it all etc & gave up, refunded me for the job. Anyone else had these issues, does it HAVE TO BE an OEM Lexus TPMS sensor? any ideas before I get ripped off by Lexus dealerships? would TPMS be covered by that "Relax" warranty? So to sum it up, no TPMS light is on, all values on the dash are -:--, all tyre pressures are good, I did the reset procedure from the manual & all 4 TPMS sensors are transmitting & reading values when viewing them on the diag tool. Anyone has any ideas I would appreciate it. Thanks.
  18. I ordered a new scuff plate for the drivers side as it had a few noticeable dents & scuffs on it, got the new one in the mail today & fitted it. If I can ever get the alloys refurbished, Ill have a good looking 9 year old car!
  19. oh yeah, "OBD Eleven" does Lexus now, it used to be V.A.G. only. I had one on my old car, it was decent.
  20. Id rather they ended production of the RCF & LC500 than put in a smaller engine with a turbo & only offering the hybrid LC would not sell enough units. Weve already seen glimpses of what their future sports models will be, so its the end of the v8 era & the start of ..whatever the new one is with fresh platforms.
  21. You can go to the mongoose official website & buy the real cable for £200 or something.
  22. I bought a techstream thing off amazon/ebay you get the software & an obd cable for about £30
  23. Anyone managed to get their oem diamond cut alloy wheels refurbished? Ive been looking into getting mine done & it seems although various places advertise as doing diamond cut wheels, they REALLY dont want to..or maybe they cant, they only want you to get them powder coated, if I insist I want the OEM diamond cut finish, they dont want to know.
