Just read the instructions someone else posted above. Looks like this is not meant to be sprayed in the vents but rather in the air inlet. I think on most cars thats typically around the black plastic area where the wipers are. Not sure if anything needs to be opened to get to the actual inlet in which this needs to be sprayed. Perhaps if its too complicated just return it and get one of the foam ones that go in the vents from a different brand. Else going to a dealer to get it done might work out expensive.

Here is a diagram of all the ac parts http://zatonevkredit(blocked word)/repair_manuals/raw_content/AWHuk534U9h2CeTmOt_S Not sure if you can access it easily though. But arent these cleaners just meant to be sprayed into the vents... I am pretty sure you should be ok spraying that cleaner in the vents. It will eventually reach the evaporator and then drain down from the drain hole that is meant for condensation from the evaporator to drain. But perhaps ask lexus?

Cracked Air Con Condenser
Notamech replied to purse3223's topic in Lexus IS 300h / IS 250 / IS 200t Club
Pretty sure the evaporator should be buried somewhere under the dashboard. Its the thing that cools the air that the blower motor blows on it. It should be in the cabin as opposed to the engine bay. Condenser is a different thing. Its the one behind the radiator -
Do you know if its coming from the rear? The rear brakes dont get applied much by most hybrid cars and the caliper pistons can sometimes seize due to corrosion. Maybe have it checked at a good independent. Might be a good idea to have the brakes serviced every few years as a matter of maintenance. Since the brake pads last so long i reckon nobody looks at the brakes until the pads are worn but it might be a good idea to clean things and grease the slider pins etc. once every 2 - 3 years or 20-30k miles. Anyway in my opinion the noise you hear is definitely not normal because "lexus brakepads are rough" and warrants investigation by a professional.

I understand that. And its a valid reason. But was wondering if there is a reason not based on feelings. Like some test results that prove this notion that having 2 odd tyres which are good quality is still a bad idea. For example there are tests that conclusively prove that most cheap chinese tyres are not as good as known brands.

Well I've changed it now. But even when i had different tyres (i ran it for a good 3 months) it made no difference at all. At least for my regular use in the city and on motorways. Also why is it not good to have tyres of different ages if all 4 are the same? For example i have good years on all 4 wheels now and the 2 fronts are new but the 2 rears are from 2020 but still have ~4.5 mm left on them. I see absolutely no reason why this can be an issue.

No sound - amplifier gone?
Notamech replied to winrris's topic in Lexus IS 300h / IS 250 / IS 200t Club
It will say on the panel in front of the gearstick. In models that dont have it its just a blank black panel. -
On the IS it turns off if you disable voice guidance in navigation. Maybe try and see if that works. You may need to turn the nav guidance volume all the way down. Shouldn't be a problem if you dont use the built in nav. Else no other way other than if you are savvy with techstream from what i understand.

In my experience this is typical of Japanese cars. When i bought my car used i was quite surprised to see a rust fest under the bonet as well. And it was mostly brackets and bolts that were rusted. I was surprised as I came fron a merc where everything was still like new even after 70k and assumed all premium cars are similar. Got some fertan and sprayed it on everything rusty. Now everything looks black. Much better in my opinion.

Yes indeed. Infact mine were exactly like that the michelin had plenty of life at 6mm the dunlop was older and had 3.5mm. I sometimes feel like I could have squeezed a year at least out of them and saved some money. But I like pampering my car 😋

So recently I noticed that i have mixed tyres on the front. Not sure how i failed to notice this before buying the car but probably due to the tread pattern being similar (both were all season tyres 1 michelin and 1 dunlop) and my brain just assumed they were the same brand as the rear had the same brand both sides. Since then everytime i have been to lexus this has been called out as not being ideal. I have since then researched quite a bit on this online but couldn't find anything conclusively proving this is a bad. Just that it is not recommended as it can cause a blowout or can cause some or the other type of damage. None of the articles were clear on the why. I finally went ahead and changed them as i didn't need all season tyres on the front anyway and got some decent GY asymmetric 6s. But the question remains is it really that bad having tyres from 2 different brands on the same axle? When i was none the wiser i drove it in heavy rain in the cold on the motorway and it was absolutely fine. No issues with braking or anything. Is it just because they were good quality branded tyres? Or is there any genuine rationale and i just got lucky? Also not once have i heard any anecdotal stories about someone having issues with different tyres. I have heard stories about people with cheap tyres from china and have had bad experiences myself so am convinced that its worth investing in a known brand. But not yet convinced that having 2 tyres from different good brands on the front can cause issues. What do you guys think?

So i think I figured this one out and its probably normal. If i use a stronger braking force and apply more pressure on the pedal then i do not hear the groan. Im just so used to gentle braking especially because of the regen braking i keep a light foot on the brake. I think it is actually what I thought it was i.e the computer compensating for lighter braking force. I could be wrong but if anyone has any other explanation let me know.

Definitely expensive. I was quoted ~£50 recently for an aircon purge / clean at lexus twickenham. They quoted £150 for re-gassing the ac.

Replacement Shift Knob is300h f sport
Notamech replied to Colinb623's topic in Lexus IS 300h / IS 250 / IS 200t Club
Expensive. https://lexuspartsdirect.co.uk/product/lexus-is-phase-3-shift-lever-knob/ i reckon this is the regular one not the perforated leather one. Comparatively this looks great for £30 https://a.aliexpress.com/_ms5agii Alternatively consider wrapping it. Might take some time and effort but will be cheap and effective. -
Reviving this old thread. Did anyone manage to find a solution or is this normal? I just noticed mine today and a search lead me here. Its exactly like the OP describes in slow stop and go traffic everytime i brake after moving a short distance at low speeds, the car stops and theres a loud groan from the rear brakes. It sounds like when you don't apply enough pressure to the pedal on a non hybrid car and the pads engage just enough to touch the disc but not stop the car and you hear a groan. And it feels like the computer / brake actuator is compensating and adding more brake pressure or something. Does anyone know what this is?

Switch to normal is300h ?
Notamech replied to Dantebloom's topic in Lexus IS 300h / IS 250 / IS 200t Club
Thanks so much for the info. Makes a lot of sense. I figured the same i.e asymmetric 6 offers a good balance of everything. -
Switch to normal is300h ?
Notamech replied to Dantebloom's topic in Lexus IS 300h / IS 250 / IS 200t Club
Thanks for the input. Makes sense. I guess like you say they probably bought the wheels later rather than as an option from the dealership. I did see a few bad reviews on Bridgestone mostly rubber cracking. The other alternative i was considering was the Good Year Asymmetric 6. I have the Asymmetric 5 on the rear and theyre pretty good but not very comfortable. Are michelin primacy 4s more comfortable? -
Switch to normal is300h ?
Notamech replied to Dantebloom's topic in Lexus IS 300h / IS 250 / IS 200t Club
Aah ok 225/45s are for 17" wheels. That makes sense. Mine even though is an exec came with fsport wheels. I reckon one of the previous owners opted for it. They look awesome - the car looks much better with the f sport wheels. Il just get decent tyres to hopefully get a softer ride. Am considering Bridgestone turanza 6 they're new and supposed to be good for comfort. Currently have a michelin and a dunlop all season tyres on the front. I don't need all season tyres nor do i like having different brands on the same axle so looking to switch. -
Switch to normal is300h ?
Notamech replied to Dantebloom's topic in Lexus IS 300h / IS 250 / IS 200t Club
Im looking for new front tyres as well isnt the front size meant to be 225 40 vs 45? Or can we use either? Im not very happy with 40 as i find the ride quite hard especially at the recommend 36psi. I found the ride gets a bit better if i go long without topping up the air. This is the first car ive owned that needs 36 psi vs ~30-32 on most other cars I have had. -
New Is300h Recall (Spotted Dec 2022)
Notamech replied to matt8's topic in Lexus IS 300h / IS 250 / IS 200t Club
Got mine done yesterday. The letter said not to go with more than 1/4th tank of fuel. Unfortunately i had more than half a tank and it wasn't really a problem. -
2021+ style rear lights mod
Notamech replied to MattDH's topic in Lexus IS 300h / IS 250 / IS 200t Club
Looks awesome. Makes the car look modern and up to date. I guess one could justify the cost if they plan to keep the car for really long. Will probably be much cheaper than trading in for another equivalent modern car. -
Finally got this done today. Cost me £130. No real difference could be felt but at times I did feel it was peppier in eco mode not sure if its just a placebo. But at least i have peace of mind now that I don't have to worry about the oil going bad at least for as long as I plan to keep it.

No wonder they're going bust. Also not at all surprised. I bought my car from a similar online type dealer called car planet. Didn't enjoy the experience at all. Super salesy and kept trying to sell me extras like warranty, paint protection and other BS. They didn't even valet or wash the car before delivery. Never again... Id much rather buy from a small family business. The overall experience is much better in my opinion.

Just an update on this. So I got hold of the workshop manual and its very clear that toyota dont use any special blend of chemicals or magic portion from the factory that must not be tampered with. The workshop manual clearly details the procedure to drain and refill the hybrid transaxle and specifies using ATF WS. So i have booked it in with Lexus Hayes for tomorrow to get it done. They've quoted £130. Will update once ive got it done if I notice any improvement in smoothness etc. I guess it probably wont make any difference but at least I'll know theres good fluid in there.
