IS300H Leather Seat wear / lack of wear :)
Notamech replied to Colinb623's topic in Lexus IS 300h / IS 250 / IS 200t Club
Personally i didn't bother with keeping it white. I went all out with the colourant and now i have black stitching. I dont mind it. I reckon you could use masking tape/cello tape to mask the stitching but sounds like a lot of work frankly. -
New Tyres; recommendation needed
Notamech replied to Gaurav Bhandari's topic in Lexus IS 300h / IS 250 / IS 200t Club
I have goodyear asymmetric 6 and am happy with them. They weren't too expensive and noise and comfort are good. In terms of grip as well its great never had squeals when cornering or braking. Id recommend them but what i cant comment on is how they stack up vs offerings from other brands like continental or Michelin as i haven't tried those on this car. -
Replacing O rings on A/C system
Notamech replied to Jose DS's topic in Lexus IS 300h / IS 250 / IS 200t Club
Looks like they might be right some things in the ac system dont seem covered. But id still recommend you pushing them to do it free or discount it as a goodwill gesture. -
Replacing O rings on A/C system
Notamech replied to Jose DS's topic in Lexus IS 300h / IS 250 / IS 200t Club
Is it lexus official that you finally went with? I thought doing a leak test with a uv dye would be their first port of call vs deciding to replace o rings. Why did they change the o rings? -

Yeah the logic is correct. Also watched a few youtube videos and all use a heat gun to apply heat and a wet towel to keep wetting the leather. I am not sure a hot towel will provide enough heat. Ofcourse i guess you would need to dial down the heat on the heat gun. -

Same. Was considering using a heat gun with a wet towel to fix it. But never got a chance to. -
IS300H Leather Seat wear / lack of wear :)

Yeah i think the 2016 onwards models have artificial leather which i think is perhaps more durable. Models prior to that had genuine leather from what ive understood. -
The Lexus relax warranty as a previous poster mentioned. I get Lexus cars tend to be reliable but should something fail the price difference pays for itself. Think of it like 3rd party warranty but cheaper. Some people don't mind paying a bit more for peace of mind. Also refill/replace just sounds like semantics to me. I have always seen new oil at every service both major / minor.

IS300H Leather Seat wear / lack of wear :)

Mine is a 2014 at ~92k while theres no major wear. The right side portion of the seat base has stretched and it looks a bit saggy. I treated it with some leather balm which tightened it up a bit but its still not gone completely. Like in the pic -
Ooh sorry about that. Didn't realise it was that expensive to ship. Here is a another one from the US. Part no is the same so it should fit. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/275891129864?hash=item403c648e08:g:LnoAAOSw0Y9kgG8k&amdata=enc%3AAQAIAAAA8PE1IRiuIDkJoYA12AVruSMAEuXQ4kjtJL2AVPv%2FghC8v7l%2FOqYoXnm7KJ%2BFoT3tJ8RsSEsg9AxXHfz%2FNlwZpY%2Fv%2FQdLrHhN0giHAGYjqb4OAbXV%2FDhjIQPlXtqFKHcYhswwRVgtpXwicmQPdDVbCylaGck6QQYbe9BBIY15ScmecvSYr0Gg%2FNNiGyawjeAcB%2BhFveIHF3FzF2gfEhgylIwFlY8FyBG2LWAWeGcr8OlLpW3q%2Bsys1qEPLb775NzU2QXQuPudId6ncwbW%2Fd8RJMFJT4g5cKz852qtFnfgRYadp1yy7e1wlKNIrb8RwlO5ng%3D%3D|tkp%3ABk9SR_aZ0YiiYg Also i think on aliexpress you can order just the headlamp lens i remember seeing it for a previous car i had. If its just your lens thats cracked but the headlight is working then this may be a cheaper solution if you're good with a bit of DIY.

The non original one is in the ebay link in my previous reply. Looks like it ships from Lithuania. Also you can try to get a used main headlamp as well on ebay. Alternatively look on sites like aliexpress they ship from china though. Its pointless spending over 1k on fixing headlights on an old car unless you plan to keep it for the next 10 years or more.

Not necessarily. The small light also called a daytime running light or DRL has its own connection. Its typically an LED panel of lights and its not very common for them to fail. So I would first double check if your body shop has missed connecting it back or if its a loose connection. In any case if it has failed its super expensive to replace im afraid. Even a used one is £420 on ebay. But you can get non original ones cheaper if you're ok with that https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/304723186194?hash=item46f2ead212:g:zbkAAOSwdJZjiKKT&amdata=enc%3AAQAIAAAA8HSpMGBlXG4hdPt2ArBVBqO%2BkQIPyxImK6reEPJNDdxroX4vfmWxGEfCrMYyK8yfpDt3T2pE4sjkZjX11%2BSFi3QlQvbPVw6RmV04htMS5z8lqIiP9B1Jwz42L8H1xeRLBb9GtYgO37T9qN6CjnD1lL63DHiJjgPd8j3TuytHm09pfrD2aEP7RMsT8dWBuqak%2B9bqNGiqcVbHToJHgmxFdAPaUCJfc4m3ktJzYPxXeyzhIbzcQM1HrJen%2FowPhlyuDs8KRtt6yjlx1K%2BcCpF%2FiBFPQE%2BqhGPPIer05TIKVzxVQ8Np%2FbcdJy6VlQwLv8ntHA%3D%3D|tkp%3ABk9SR4af-IOiYg

Screen black after battery change
Notamech replied to rayaans's topic in Lexus IS 300h / IS 250 / IS 200t Club
Maybe switching the radio off before swapping the batteries could be another potential solution. Like you say dealerships disconnect the battery when undertaking certain jobs but ive always noticed that my radio was switched off whenever i collected my car after a visit to the service center. -
If you're looking to get any work done. I highly recommend checking prices across different authorised service centers. Lexus also have just service centres that do not have a dealership / showroom. These service centres tend to be cheaper. E.g. Lexus Hayes and Lexus Chalfont. I had my waterpump replaced a while ago and Lexus Hayes did it for £320 with coolant and a new belt for the price. Lexus Twickenham which is a "dealership" wanted £428 without a new belt. I am not sure if service costs differ too but worth checking. You will continue to retain your warranty if you use these centres and their rates are comparable to an indie.

2014 IS 300H F-Sport Softer Suspension
Notamech replied to ZXSpectrum's topic in Lexus IS 300h / IS 250 / IS 200t Club
Wow £35 for alignment is cheap. I paid £80 and i know Lexus charge £100. But its a 4 wheel alignment that i got on a hunter machine. -
Dont think there are exceptions. Is there a possibility that the previous owner removed them? Or did they just not come with tpms? Apparently if your car is fitted with tpms then it should be working correctly if the dash light is illuminated you can receive a PCN or fail your MOT. This is news to me too.

I have the asymmetric 6 and am very happy with them. They are fairly quiet on my 18inch wheels and definitely much better than the crossclimates that were on there before. I only just got them in feb so cant really speak about how durable / long lasting they are but with regards to braking, handling etc they're good.

Air Con pressure too high
Notamech replied to Veloces_'s topic in Lexus IS 300h / IS 250 / IS 200t Club
Here is the service manual if it helps http://zatonevkredit(blocked word)/repair_manuals/viewdoc_html/AWHuj7EURvZszzJrV4Yg/AWHuk8RrrzlLPWuuGLBM As others here have already mentioned you should never service your ac outside of the Toyota network as familiarity with hybrid systems is not very high among local garages. Hybrid ac systems use electric compressors and not belt driven ones like most petrol and diesel cars. Hence the compressor oil needed is different (non conductive) and you cannot use regular PAG oil. Just fyi the oil is a very small quantity that goes in with the refrigerant its job is primarily to lubricate the compressor and rubber seals inside the system. The machines that kwikfit and halfords use to suck out and regas the ac refrigerant use regular pag oil. If your system has been contaminated with this it's going to be an expensive repair i think as its presence can cause things to short in the compressor. As far as your problem of too much pressure on the low pressure side, it is indeed typically indicative of a faulty compressor but as you have rightly suggested it still warrants proper diagnosis to confirm the problem first. My advice is take it to lexus or toyota alternatively look for a hybrid specialist. -
2019 IS300H No Electrics.
Notamech replied to colabora962's topic in Lexus IS 300h / IS 250 / IS 200t Club
Just an update on the performance of this battery. For background - I use my car thrice a week at least and do around 10-15 miles whenever I run it. I have never used a charger to charge the 12v battery. Recently I went on a 3 week long vacation. After returning around 21 days later i started the car and it booted right up. No issues. I do keep keyless entry off though. So sounds like a reasonably good battery to me as ive read of quite a few batteries going flat when the car is sat for 2 weeks or longer -
Yes these are readers available on amazon carista is one such example. You may be able to read codes and diagnose the problem after spending on such a device but i highly doubt you will be able to fix any issue with the AC as a DIY. Id recommend getting professional help as recommended above
-
It's a very bad idea having Halfords or Kwikfit service your hybrid AC. The compressor oil used for hybrid cars needs to be non conductive. You may have problems otherwise. This is because hybrids use electric compressors not belt driven ones. And having regular PAG oil contaminate your system might mean expensive repairs. As far as your problem is concerned it could be because of other reasons such as issues with the compressor or a failed tempreature sensor. Would be best to take it to lexus. Yes they will charge you a good £100-200(depending on the dealership) just to diagnose the issue. Fixing it will cost you on top of that. So unfortunately it will be an expensive job. Alternatively look for a workshop that specialises in hybrids / priuses. They should be able to sort you out for cheaper.

Front Drivers Side Door - Leather Fix
Notamech replied to ilovepurple159's topic in Lexus IS 300h / IS 250 / IS 200t Club
Sounds from the above like replacement may be a cheap option but you would most likely have to DIY. Here in the UK most garages are very reluctant to install used parts as their insurance doesn't cover it. Some might help you for cash in hand - off the books. Not sure how it is in Croatia. Alternatively consider going to an upholstery repair place and they should be able to fix it. They will fill it with leather filler and match the paint/dye to the rest of the panel. -
As others here have said its unlikely to be anything else and is related to either incorrect pressure or a failed sensor. The sensors are sealed and need to be replaced although hacks are available online on how to change the battery if you want to go down that route. My recommendation would be to ignore it (as long as you check the tyre pressure regularly) until your tyres need changing and get a new set of sensors for all wheels at that time if you plan to keep the car long. If one sensor failed its likely that the other ones are due as well and will fail sooner or later.
