  1. This feature should come stock with the car. The way the boot opens in the IS300h does not scream "lexus" to me.
  2. One good thing about the SE is cheaper tyres (205/55/16 which is what all IS300H should have anyway) One negative thing is you lose the ability to fold the rear seats for extra luggage ... think about it. Additionally, thye say the SE sounds sytem isn't that good but I havent listened to one myself so I dunno...
  3. There is a stupid arms race these days, when it comes to wheel sizes and low profiles. Not too long ago a 16" wheel with a 195 or a 215 was considered very sporty and worn only by GTIs and the like You see small/medium cars wearing ridiculously fat and large wheels, far exceeding their capabilities, just for the sake of "looking sporty". Three-cylinder 1.0 engines with a 215 and even 235 tyre and 18' size ....stupid. As it is, I feel the 225/45/17 I have on mine are way more than enough. Fitting 18s or even 19s makes no sense to me. Even less so with the apalling quality of the roads.
  4. There are a couple of threads in this forum about it (apple carplay fitting) and it certainly works with the right installation and wiring etc. It is feasible. I guess most of us just can't be bothered given the workarounds (I listen to music in the car via bluetooth just the same, from my phone), and in my particular case, the fact that I would have to get someone else to dissassemble the dashboard to fit it etc. I can think of better things to do with 600 quid and the carplay isn't a must for me. Actually, if you get the Maps update (do you have the big or the normal screen?) the Lexus maps work pretty well and they tell you about upcoming gas stations, tolls etc that the Apple carplay does not.
  5. Welcome to the club! 👉 Anecdote, since you mentioned Mercs: I was in San Sebastian a few weeks ago. We got in a city taxi that was a Lexus ES 300h (same engine drivetrain etc)... the taxi driver told us that he had three Merdeces E class as a taxi, but that after 150,000 km, the car needed constant small repairs here and there, to the point it was hardly profitable. He said since he had got the ES he was super happy: after 350,000 km he had zero problems with it and was now a Lexus fan. I'm in love with the IS300h just like you: such a shame they didn't bring the 4th gen to the UK! Ticks all the boxes for me, and very few others (if any) would (the ES is too large).
  6. When I hear them say something "lasts a lifetime" I think of the first girlfriend (or boyfriend) you have when you're 16 and you think it will be forever...
  7. Lexus sells original touch-up paint, so you only need to know which Lexus colour your car is
  8. I hear it....it is like a shudder at 1500 rpm.... have you taken it to the dealer yet?
  9. What I was told at the dealership when I asked about this was that only (or mainly) the RX and the CT are being targeted because in other models like the IS the cat is hard to access and therefore not at risk. I felt such a relief I felt like driving all the way just to give him a hug.
  10. Don't mind me Wharfhouse, I'm the type of person that thoroughly cleans the engine bay for fun....
  11. If it really was topping up only they would do nothing on mine. I check oil level every now and then and it hasnt dropped. This engine does not seem to drink oil much
  12. Im gonna sound like a broken records here but all i can say is im super happy (including the cold spell last winter) with michelin primacy 4 VOL and after 6k miles, they're like new (they're hard tyres). Noise levels good too.
  13. How do you guys apply the colourant those of you who do, without maing a mess of the white stitching in black leather?
  14. Looking great! Would you say the rubber mats are a lot heavier than the regular ones?
  15. Using heat you would ruin the little flexibiltiy that leather may have left, so I would advise against, strongly. Use a colour refresher or something like that. I know colourlock offers colour matching aside from the standard colour range
  16. It is not leather in most cases, it is synthetic leather. Balms usually don't get absorbed, but what you can do is throughly clean, then apply some matt protection or colour refresher, and then apply some shield such as gtechniq's leather guard. From their site:
  17. Lexus aren't always the most expensive: my dashcam was fitted by them at a loss (brand policy), but if you're looking for an independent specialist to do work the dealership would say no to, you can try these guys (I haven't tried them myself yet) https://www.dmbautomotive.co.uk/
  18. As it is, there is already a massive decline in French and German tourists visiting the UK.
  19. Very helpful thank you: I had been looking under the mats all this time
  20. Isn't it a simpler question? If one is concerned about noise, just look for the ones with the least DB on the energy efficiency label... most of the quiet ones are about 69DB and only a couple of models go below like these ones at 68DB (bear in mind the decibel scale is not linear, which is to say the distance between 68 and 69 is not equivalent to the one between 70 and 71...
  21. Just in case, I'm not letting my car anywhere near supermarket fuel and only give it BP or Shell 98/99 E5. Call me paranoid, but for the difference I'm not gonna take the long-term risk (I don't do lots of mileage anyway)
