  1. I'm not saying this is the case (I dunno) but more often than not, we expect services to work. That means a majority of the people who actually bother taking the time and leave a (bad) review are the ones who had a bad experience with something. For instance: I always had positive experiences renting cars with Hertz or Avis (touch wood), but when you go online you see lots of horror stories in the reviews.
  2. Thank you for clarifying. No I wasn't offended in the slightliest but I felt the debate on manometer vs gauge was getting too heated for what it was actually worth (I can now see it was only my perception). I guess I'm too used to seeing people getting belligerant online over small stuff these days ...so didn't wanna get into it. I much appreciate your comment by the way.
  3. if it's a thin, simple crack, a CarGlass type of repair will leave it like new and without the bother of changing the whole windscreen
  4. We're splitting hairs here? From those links above: Anyway, I can see there are some thin-skinned forum members. I won't be around to bother you no more, don't worry.
  5. well the definition of manometer is a device to measure pressure...
  6. Oh man, I didn't even know that acronym existed! 😄 What my wife enjoys the most of the IS300h are the heated seats. She said as long as the next car had heated seats, she was fine with my car choice
  7. Maybe we're talking about the same thing. This is the one I bought back in the day, it works really well: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01EN36I32?psc=1 I also have a 12v pump which i keep in the garage for when i need to top them up
  8. Who is shmbo? Lexus does sell an ashtray that fits into one of the cupholders, it is about 12 quid or so... I use it to put the keys in there while driving, car park receipts, etc.
  9. I use a manometer to do so, every two/three weeks or so. And before every long ride. I keep it in the boot. Don't you ?
  10. I was in Whitstable yesterday afternoon and in the same car park I spotted this IS300h Premier, which I inspected underneath for tyre wear (yes I get geeky with these things), but then while I was at it, I noticed the mudflaps were smaller! ...Now, I have been thinking about removing my mudflaps (they're OEM ones, I think)... I find them way too bulky and the car possibly looks better without them? I also have a non-scientific suspicion they hurt my MPG, being so bulky. --> So I mostly wanted to ask you people: Has anybody here removed them and then regretted? Do you know how/where to find these smaller mudflaps? ...LexusPartDirect seems to have the same ones I have, but not any other "alternative" OEM set, and when you look in other places online all you see is a plastic part (out of context) and it is hard to tell.... I thought of leaving a windshield note asking but the way things are these days (people are terrified of one another), the owner would probably think I'm was trying to scam him. 😕
  11. I wonder what the actual recommendation from Lexus UK is regarding goodies etc in a case like this one.
  12. did you take pictures of the process? 🙂 About the warranty: I am not sure I understood you people: so if service at Lexus annually, with Relax, something like this would be covered, no?
  13. I guess those "free" espressos and cookies at the Lexus dealerships work out very expensive in the end....
  14. It is very straightforward, unless there are Royal Mail delays, but no funky business with unable to deliver messages, that's what I meant above, sorry to sound misleading. Is it worth updating every year? how often do you guys update ?
  15. I ordered two months ago and it came via regular post (the memory card), in a pretty slim, discreet envelope....don't worry, that seems a scam.
  16. But the ES is front wheel drive. The IS is rear wheel drive, so it wins on that account.
  17. @Mincey I meant I'm NOW pretty sure, not I'm NOT pretty sure ... silly typos
  18. Umh, that's interesting..... truth is I'm not a tech expert (at least not this type of tech) and have little to compare against. But basically what he's saying in the vid is that they aren't all that great overall.... passable but not great.
  19. Thanks so much @Mincey ! I have read the first page of the thread and I'm now pretty sure I'm gonna book myself in with the local lexus dealership to have it fitted. Shall remember to mention a forum discount.
  20. Front and rear....has anyone fitted them? any good? any rattles in the car after installation? Did you get a discount from the dealership....? Thanks guys!
  21. Ceramic coatings seem great, to be frank. Never tried one but seems a good idea for some cars! Personally, I prefer the waxing option because of its meditative factor (it calms me down, it is like meditation and I generally enjoy the process, doing it slowly while listening to some good music), and it's less fiddly and risky to apply than a proper ceramic treatment. ...It seems I live very close to one of the most famous detailers in the UK, who specialise in Gtechniq treatments, so have the choice if I change my mind. I think there is a sort of intermediate option: a very durable wax: Soft99 Fusso coat claims to be a special, 12 month wax. I bought it last month but have not used it yet. I'm waiting for temperatures to go up as it's supposed to be applied between 15 and 25 degrees. The one I tried is the high def wax by autoglym and i found it pretty good and super easy to apply.
  22. ....actually Lexus does! Probbaly not one of these "ceramic" ones , but the manufacturer claims the car comes with a self-repairing coating that lasts about five years after leaving the factory, as mentioned in page 546 of the extended manual: https://www.lexus.co.uk/owners/about-my-lexus/manuals See screengrab here:
  23. It is nice isn't it? you can fiddle with music and look at the landscape, etc.... But the problem is I'm too biased to trust others driving and I would always keep an eye on what/how they're doing 😅 I think what I would enjoy the most is not having to watch out for potholes 100% of the time
