Often dealerships simply do not deal with bodywork facilities. They rely on other specialised garages for it. If anyone is in Kent/Medway, I know an excellent bodywork garage where they do things really well.
-
Given that the ES wouldn't fit inside most single garages, I would get one of these if I was you... https://www.everycarcovered.com/collections/lexus/products/lexus-es-1997-2018-half-size-car-cover Unless you have a double garage, that is.

Why Lexus is yet to break into the UK mainstream
Mr_Groundhog replied to Roger Bill's topic in Lexus General Discussions
I wish they had kept the IS instead of the ES which is too large for UK streets and driveways I like the thing, but I would not upgrade to an ES from my IS because driving it in our 16th century urban layouts feels I'm driving the Titanic through the hallway of my house -
I honestly could not believe how ugly this thing is
-
You know Vicks Vapo Rub? cats hate that smell big time
-
It is so ugly that when I saw the release I had to check it wasn't april fools

Dongfeng - Look out; the East Wind is coming.
Mr_Groundhog replied to GMB's topic in Lexus General Discussions
They realised we're (we and our governments) stupid enough to believe that "free market" narrative and have used it to their advantage because it is in itself a trap for fools. But wait, isn't your comment advocating for more government intervention of the "free market" ? -

If they're smart to bring back good saloons, good estate cars and good coupes, they'll find lots of people tired of SUVs -

I think it was actually 4,000,000 supermegabillions or more ..... where did i get the figure? well the same place you seem to have gotten yours 😄 Good luck not owning anything Chinese... I bet your mobile phone was made in the UK? Also, I won't go down this rabbit hole just now, but I tried hard not to laugh with your "blurred lines" comment: anyone who has NOT been in a coma for the last 45 years (or is severly blinded by propaganda) can see that our "governments" are only legislative arms of private corporations. They largely write the laws the parties pass in parliament, oiled by the mass media in convincing the population that going against their own interests is a good thing. Governments do not have your interest at heart and if they ever do, they'll be brought down quickly as it happened many times in the past. Have the recent Whitehall scandals (and there are many to choose from!) not been enough to clarify how "blurred" the lines between private corporation and Government are here in the UK? And how corrupt both sides have proven to be? As for the spying thing, forgive me if you have indeed been in a coma but I dunno if you have heard of someone called Edward Snowden? Back in the day it used to be a conspiracy theory to think that we're spied on all the time, and that anything you do anywhere can (and will be) used against you by the Mi5 or Mi6 if needed... that all operative systems have backdoors for the NSA....etc etc. Now we know it is a fact. Not debatable. How is that any different? Most of the time they don't even need to make an effort... We actually give away all our info, willingly, to thousands of corporations who know every detail of what we say and do, and we don't get a cent for it, but we as a society, don't care. I know of this fella, Julain Assange, who's been imprisioned for a long time for simply fair journalisim: publishing verified matierial. Scapegoated to send a message; how is that in any way democratic? How is something we're doing not something that Russia or China would do just the same? Last but not least, a link on why we're not in a position to lecture -
Programme new key fob
Mr_Groundhog replied to Johnlex's topic in Lexus IS 300h / IS 250 / IS 200t Club
Bear in mind the time you're investing in finding a new alternative also counts for how much you may be saving... If you spend several hours looking for a solution in forums to save 20 quid, yo're essentially working for less than minimim wage. -

Maybe the dealership can do it? -

IS300H increase in value
Mr_Groundhog replied to Colinb623's topic in Lexus IS 300h / IS 250 / IS 200t Club
I know this forum is a heavily biased statistical sample 🤔 but something tells me the Lexus marketing people didn't do their homework before they decided not to bring the new IS300 to the UK.... You read around the internet and there are many of us that aren't much into SUVs. -
IS300H increase in value
Mr_Groundhog replied to Colinb623's topic in Lexus IS 300h / IS 250 / IS 200t Club
That's the thing.... for me the ES isn't an alternative because it's too large to handle it through the narrow streets of where we live, plus my driveway and garage are a bit tight. I like the interior of the ES but the wheels Lexus sells it with are way oversized for the engine and he type or car it is (most cars do nowadays). -

Mr_Groundhog replied to Colinb623's topic in Lexus IS 300h / IS 250 / IS 200t Club
Same here. The newest version of the IS300h is super cool. I want to keep mine for a long time (partly because they don't sell the new one) but I admit that if they were to have it available in the UK, I would be looking forward to upgrading in a couple of years or less (fortunately my car can't read this so she won't be offended). -
Excessive air pressure typically wears the center of the tyre too much. It's low pressure that does the sides in... but not one side alone. Looks like a suspension set-up thing. Be it as a result of a pothole or excessive toe/camber.... or both

When I cross over to France and I find that, despite being a similar country with similar challenges, their roads are all fine and hardly any potholes, my blood boils. I drove lots around Spain and most roads are faultless. The UK somehow chose to have chronically ailing infrastructure. I'm not sure why. Perhaps because doing otherwise is considered by some to be a form of dangerous, child-eating evil socialism or something. Every time I see the Royals in their yachts, their private planes/helicopters, their manor houses, palaces, castles and servants..... I think of our roads. Call me crazy.

Apparently the front ones are easy but for the rear ones you have to remove the wheels! However you do need extra holes apparently. I have in the work sheets for both on the other computer: will try to upload them later. After these two answers plus what @agent_dess menioned, I'm starting to think that maybe I will let them be ..... 🤔 that picture by @LenT suggests they actually do make some difference...

New Is300h Recall (Spotted Dec 2022)
Mr_Groundhog replied to matt8's topic in Lexus IS 300h / IS 250 / IS 200t Club
yeah totally agree....defeats the purpose of fixed pricing. So far so good for me, touch wood. I had the dashcam fitted the other day and I got a nearly-new NX for the day at no extra cost. -
True, I thought it was ludicrous that they would give me that....you know what they said when I asked if the hole could be covered? "What the technicians said is that either we leave them on or there will be a hole" ...as in, no alternative sort of thing. I was deflated to see they treat clients like they're children. Seeing as to how they were addressing the issue, I also concluded they just didn't want to do it and I thought I would ask elsewhere... Thanks 🙂 I'm not 100% sure but i think in the end I will just remove rather than replace 🤔
-
Yeah mine are the same ones: the factory fitted ones. But I find them too bulky 😬 I asked at the dealership the other day (took the car in to have the dashcam fitted) and they quoted 140 pounds to remove them, plus they were shocked I wanted to do it (they said nobody had requested that before) and that removing them would leave some holes from one of the screws holding each of the mudflaps..... So I said I would think about it. I think longer term I will have them removed but in the meantime I need to find out if there is a clip, peg, plug, or something that could be used to cover the whole left (I asked at the dealership and they said they could not cover them which sounded very odd)
