  1. I will share a quick anecdote: a friend who drives a Porsche 997 got an engine dash light on, and got scared. Took it to the Porsche specialist right away and the mechanic asked: "where did you last top-up fuel?" and he told him it was a low-cost gas station at a supermarket (those whitout humans at all) The mechanic said not to worry and upon deactivating the alert, told him the remedy was a full top-up of Shell/BP E5 to flush it. Apparently the petrol is the same but the filtering (purity) and the additives can make all the difference. He's got no more engine lights turn on since. BTW I saw Halfrauds sell a bottle of an additive that claim to make E10 safer. Anybody knows? Im curious but ultimately, I only refuel 98/99 E5 anyway. The car seems to like it better.
  2. I had Lexus Maidstone (or the call centre 200 km away on their behalf) say they'll call me back in 10 minutes, a couple of times I'm still waiting for the callback I think we'll call you back is code for get lost Canterbury lexus on the other hand has been brilliant the one time i had to deal with them
  3. It is pathetic (and sad) to see how some people persist in trying to see positives in a shoot-in-the-foot, taking imaginary sides, only not to admit they've been had (and ****** on), thus admiting failure to themselves. Anyway, thanks for the insights of this thread. I still struggle to see how I have been all over (driving in cities and all, Toulouse included) and haven't been told anything about the sticker. Or even just crossing the channel. How much was the sticker by the way, to those who just bought it ?
  4. Something thats annoying me with the dealerships is that no matter what you book for, even if a very small thing, they tell you they need to have the car "all day". It is super annoying unless you don't work full time and live next to the dealership, which id say most of us dont 🤨
  5. where in the interface do i look what version im in? thanks in advance
  6. I have also noticed lately that now they put you through a call centrer, whereas just a few months ago i was able to ring the local dealership and.... lo and behold, talk to the local dealership. If anyone in marketing is reading this: lexus, please beat it already. Calling any company these days is knowing they're gonna waste 45 min of your time on the phone, please don't be one more
  7. Cross climates are a compromise usually where you get only half-good of each type really... Michelins for me have been far more durable than any other brands, including Continental eco contact which are also good.
  8. All I can add to this thread is that I'm super happy with my very reliable, very durable, and very comfy Michelin Primacy 4 VOL on my IS300h. It's been 5k miles so far and they're just like new. Whe we had snow and ice this last winter, all it took was a bit of care and I drove everywhere just fine. They are rated A for rain so that's not a problem... and when I drove to south Spain a month ago, they were brilliant too. And quieter than the OEM Yokos by far
  9. I realised I have a similar problem: the rear vents don't blow any air, even if I uncheck the block button on the dashboard...
  10. oh wow 37% is terrible.... I don't think there is a lot of demand for the IS300h in the theft market (touch wood), i thik it's more the RX's and the like However, it is hard for me to calculate a percentage because I changed cars in November. But yes all in all, a significant increase.... Tomorrow I will check the comparisons and see if there is something. Any advice? Any comparison sites that may be better or insurers that aren't on them?
  11. How much has your renovation come for? I was outraged today as it's over a thousand quid.... I mean, I'm over 40 and quite a few years of licence.... is this normal? last year wasnt anywhere near that much!
  12. I was in Versailles end of last year, and also Amiens, Rouen and other places.... and I haven't been told anything 😶
  13. No way! Are you telling me cars with an exhaust pipe and a combustion engine actually produce pollution? I'm in disbelief you decided to grace us with your superior knowledge in this humble forum. Please, do go on.
  14. What? I have just come back from Spain and France all May and nothing was requested.... I thought foreign cars didn't have to display the environmental grade sticker.
  15. Is this a good or bad thing for us? How so? I really am in the doldrums when it comes to this soap operas in the high echelons of power
  16. I had a similar noise when I got my previous car (honda civic 9th gen, with 38k miles) ...it turned out to be one of the anti-roll bar links that was broken. I guess most people are pretty careless about speedbumps, potholes and other imperfections whereas im pretty OCD about them (I somehow feel the suspension is a delicate thing) so the previous owner must have been one of those.....that plus the total state of UK roads of course, for which we pay plenty of road ta but see no improvement.... In the end I replaced both links for peace of mind and the noise was gone. Using the video above, I'm talking about this piece in the screengrab: BTW @Digifant I did replace the front arm bushings with those of the GS-F (so they're still OEM pieces) and the change isn't major but you do feel the steering a bit more grounded and firm. A tad more sensitive (in a good way). I got them from Amayama I think.
  17. The ES is huge! It does not fit inside the average garage and in many towns/villages it would be a pain to move, given the small and narrow streets. It looks nice and im sure is super comfortable, but I would not be able to have one even if I wanted to.
  18. Before opening any link, I could tell you is yet another SUV. How exciting.
  19. Makes sense. The lower front arm bushings I replaced were those of the GS-F too...
  20. I would see if I can find any high-end detailers in your area and speak to them. They may have seen this before and know how to deal with it
  21. I will use this thread to ask a question: Sometimes when the car has been in the garage for a few days and I disengage the handbrake (foot brake, rahter) and shift to D to leave the garage, it feels as if the rear brakes had 'stuck' to the discs and it takes a split second of the car pulling in D to feel it 'unsticking' and pulling away.... I dunno if this is normal and if I should be worried about it... the car is 23K miles and registrered at the end of 2018. 🤔
  22. be careful for I was told at the dealership that THEY need to do it, otherwise your electronics in the centre console will start to do strange stuff: they need to do a dealership reset upon changing the battery
  23. my view is that it does indeed spoil it. the IS300h is a refined car with fine-tuned aerodynamics (Cx is only 0.26 if memory does not fail me) and I would not choose to lower the resale value of mine by adding a spoiler. Looks don't improve either.
  24. What i meant is they often dont have the facilities to do bodywork repairs, sorry.... i explained myself pretty badly there
