  1. I have heard Bilt-Hamber does not last for very long. Personally, I would very reccommend the one I have been using (and last time I checked, it was on discount) which is Fusso Coat 99, which is a special wax that claims to last a whole year. And in my experience, it gets pretty close to that. Great shine and beading too. As with most waxes, you just have to make sure to apply it when it isn't too cold (in principle winter isn0t the best time). And in particular with Fusso, work with a very thin layer, hardly visible, as a bit of wax goes a long way. Then buff off. Don't do the whole car at once but work in quarters or eights of the car.
  2. Democrat or Republican, the objective truth is that the average US worker, if such thing exists, has less of everything. Less pay, less coverage, fewer work benefits, fewer options, less purchasing power, less heatlh... most struggle to afford the basics of life. Productivity per employee, aided by technology, has skyrocketed. Yet the life that was presented as the one of "the average factory man" in the early 90s (The Simpsons) is now an unattainable dream for most. Both Democrats & Republicans have adopted Reaganomics as their bible, and are now facing its disastrous consequences (not them personally, but working people). Chickens are coming home to roost, as they say. And we're not better here: same can be said about Tatcherism being the UK's de-facto M.O. for many decades now. We planted seeds and it's been harvest time for a while. The country is in tatters.
  3. True, that was the right version of the pet eating hoax, thanks
  4. The Orange Golem has been elected! He promises spectacle from day one, like a modern-day Caligula appointing whacky horses to his cabinet. Lo & behold... foreign policy won't change substantially, bar de-escalating the failed Ukranian war. Alas, lame-duck Biden has just authorised Zelensky to target areas of inland Russia with long-range missiles (Blinken et al. doubling down ontheir backing of an authoritarian government) to re-escalate, thus creating a problem for the new the Trump administration. ...In the meantime, US citizens will keep struggling to afford the basics of life. Trump has zero solutions, but has Joe Rogan to disseminate new conspiracy theories, so who cares. Half of them citizens voted for a guy who asserted the Asian community ate their pets (and he got an applause).
  5. They have a bit of velcro in the back so they attach to the lower side of the back of the seat (woolly texture) and stay up firmly there, but you can remove them easily too.
  6. I never managed to get it to work but i thought it was because mine is a 2018 model....
  7. I asked recently and they said they didn't have (or weren't able to provide) the tyres i enquired about (some michelin primacy), and I was surprised they didn't.
  8. Given I was a bit hesitant before I purchased (for fun, mostly) some stuff for the car, I thought I would post it here in case it would help any of you.... and likewise, in case someone else found something that would be fun to have, I may wanna know! So these are links to items I'm actually glad I got (disclaimer: I'm not on Aliexpress payroll or anything): Car seat gap fillers (the missus said she does not know where to rest her phone) Storage bag for the trunk This is good to keep the road triangle, the first-aid kit, and all of those things tidy in one place Lexus umbrella for the trunk it rarely rains in Britain but just in case Anti-kick pads for the back of the front seats they wipe clean easily Neck pillows (mostly good if you need to take a quick nap, or for your co-pilot to do so –we groundhogs do a lot of that)
  9. you mean your car won't talk to you?
  10. If it's the front bumper and you end up swapping for a new one, or even removing to fix & re-fit later, then save extra money to cover the recalibration fee of all the sensors and cruise control systems, which can easily be an extra £300 or so.
  11. It takes faith to believe "It's cheaper to run" 😄 Of course! When you need to turn a profit and fat cat bonuses, it is magically cheaper to run. ...And you talk about religion and cults! Ignorance is daring, I won't hold it against you. Either that or you're one of the people I had above me, who did nothing all day but shaking hands and self-promote (leaving some very expensive Power Point slides in their wake). I was there and I know full well how it works, no need to school me. In this context, "joint venture" means the public side takes the losses, and the private sector reaps the benefits. I am going to assume you're at a very early stage (professionally) not to know this. You went from the straw man to the tautology. What an addition to the forum.
  12. Your straw man reply does not add much to this. Let's leave it at that.
  13. This is why I urge you to look up modern monetary theory: The debt trap is to think "oh would it not be nice to have all of these things that are good... such a shame we can't afford them" Funny you use Japan as an example. I wish we had half their infrastructure, public transport, clean streets, safety, recycling programmes and obesity rates instead of ours.... Are they a perfect society? No... but they have had the bullet train for 60 years while here we failed to build a few kms of high-speed rail because of all the NIMBYs.
  14. ...If only most of that money was well spent. I worked in public sector projects and I can assure you a huge amount of that money is fixed to flow to private "consulting" firms such as NHS SBS, owned by Sopra Steria, and not to fund patient wellbeing, prevention programmes, good working conditions or efficiency. This practice infantilises the NHS and is more expensive to run. We have UK educated doctors for instance, leaving for Australia in droves.
  15. Not sure you're agreeing with me or trying to paint me as a pro-china activist? Beware, however, of the power of propaganda. Our media have been forecasting "the end is nigh for China" for man years now... and the fact is they're moving forward and we're reversing to Victorian times.
